Abstract In onshore oilfields, sucker rod pumps are deployed to lift fluids from wells to the surface, which are then transferred by a pipeline network to a central facility. Each pump operates according to a cyclic control policy that alternates between a period of production and a period of recess, allowing the reservoir to replenish the fluids. To minimize the peak in the electric power drawn by the sucker rods, previous works have considered the scheduling of the control policies over time. However, when the production system sprawls over a large area, the energy required to force the flow through the pipelines and the pressure drops are significant. To this end, this article develops mixed-integer nonlinear formulations and mixed-integer linear approximations for baseline control-policy scheduling and reconfiguration.

Context Wildlife can be injured or orphaned through a range of (often anthropogenic) activities, creating need for volunteer rescuers and wildlife carers, of which a substantial number is active in Australia. However, the causes and contributing factors for rescued wildlife are rarely reported, which limits development of response options to these wildlife issues. An understanding of the distribution and number of rescuers and carers in relation to injured and orphaned wildlife allows training and outreach to be targeted around specific seasonal peaks, species and causes of injury. Aims and methods We conducted an analysis of 22723 reports over 7 years to the Bonorong Wildlife Rescue Service in Tasmania, Australia, to determine the frequency of species and types of human–wildlife interaction, the report distances from the central facility, and the report distribution relative to the registered rescuer and carer networks. Key results Mammals accounted for over half of all reports, followed by birds, reptiles and invertebrates. Road trauma was the predominant cause for report, followed by orphans. Disease reports and animal attack were also common. Overall, reporting was highest in late spring and summer, but different seasonality in specific causes and species suggests that targeted response options are needed at different times of year. Areas with higher reporting relative to the number of registered rescuers and carers show where volunteer recruitment can be focussed. Conclusions We used a wildlife reporting dataset to illustrate trends (such as seasonality and species vulnerability) and causes of human–wildlife interaction to inform potential response options. Implications Continued citizen reporting can assist wildlife managers to allocate resources, plan training or recruit additional volunteers, track emerging issues, such as disease and climate-related stressors, and guide the planning of public education and mitigation initiatives, particularly for human-related wildlife issues.

ObjectivesAn increased risk of vertebral fractures (VFs) has been reported in spondyloarthritis (SpA). Our hypothesis is that the prevalence of VFs is lower than reported in previous studies, especially in early SpA. This study aimed at assessing the incidence of radiographical VFs over 5 years in early axial SpA.MethodsThe DESIR (DEvenir des Spondylarthropathies Indifférenciées Récentes) cohort, which included patients with inflammatory back pain highly suggestive of axial SpA, is the basis of this study. All radiographs of the DESIR cohort had been assessed at a central facility, by one investigator specialised in the field of the diagnosis of VFs according to Genant’s method. We assessed the prevalence and incidence of VFs and vertebral deformities at baseline and over 5 years.ResultsFive-year X-rays were available for 432 patients (mean age 34.3±8.7 years, 53% women). Diagnosis of VF was doubtful and needed adjudication for 19 patients (4.4%). 13 patients had prevalent VFs (3.0%) which were located at the thoracic spine (12 were grade 1). At 5 years, five patients had an incident VF (1.15%); seven vertebrae were fractured, mostly located at the thoracic spine (n=6/7), and of grade 1 (n=6/7).ConclusionIn the DESIR cohort, a population of early SpA, we found a low prevalence and incidence of VFs (3.0% and 1.15 %), respectively. This confirms our hypothesis that the actual prevalence and incidence of VFvertebral fracture in SpA is lower than that reported in the previous studies.

This paper focuses on the development of library webpages available on Engineering websites in the state of Maharashtra. In an information age/era, for any college library, its webpages integral part as central facility that the students and staffs need resources for curriculum and research works. Depending on survey and study of engineering websites throught out in Maharashtra it is tried to search information regarding various resources and library services provided. It searches all data informatics of available books, Printed journals, E-book, E-journals, Project reports, Doctoral research thesis, Reference books, Journals and periodicals, News papers, CD/DVDs , Videos , etc. Main purpose is to find out whether all details resources of library webpage are available on Engineering college websites or not.

The application of IR spectroscopy to the characterization and quality control of samples used in neutron crystallography is described. While neutron crystallography is a growing field, the limited availability of neutron beamtime means that there may be a delay between crystallogenesis and data collection. Since essentially all neutron crystallographic work is carried out using D2O-based solvent buffers, a particular concern for these experiments is the possibility of H2O back-exchange across reservoir or capillary sealants. This may limit the quality of neutron scattering length density maps and of the associated analysis. Given the expense of central facility beamtime and the effort that goes into the production of suitably sized (usually perdeuterated) crystals, a systematic method of exploiting IR spectroscopy for the analysis of back-exchange phenomena in the reservoirs used for crystal growth is valuable. Examples are given in which the characterization of D2O/H2O back-exchange in transthyretin crystals is described.

The National Repository Library of Finland was founded in 1989 as a means of providing the most economical way of storing library material for all libraries in Finland. It also acts as a connecting link in the country's library network and a centre for interlending. The paper describes the cost savings that have been achieved (€3.5 million annually) by the use of this central facility. Interlibrary loan requests are processed within 24 hours of receipt. Physical copies are mailed to user libraries, and periodical articles are scanned and despatched electronically. Fulfilling an important function in national collection policy, the National Repository Library has allowed other libraries to concentrate on maintaining active local collections, in the knowledge that research material sent to the Repository Library can be made available to them quickly and efficiently. As repositories acquire more and more material they become print resources on a regional or national scale, leading to the possibility that in time they might come together in a network to create a Universal Repository Library.
