Notes remain to be playing a significant role in the curricula of higher education institutions, however, the amount of online materials has increased over the past years, primarily thanks to the project EFOP 3.4.3. The advantages of these developments’ direction can be easily recognised as they correspond to the expectations of the students and of modern times. However, following the traditions of preparing notes, each institution currently develops their own education material and curriculum, at most only sharing their experiences in educational methodology at conferences and workshops. Nevertheless, the question arises as to why higher education institutions do not cooperate to develop their curricula together, or why they do not adopt each other’s already existing curricula. The question may also be important because the development of online curricula presents considerably higher costs than developing and preparing “written” notes. A multitude of other questions concerning this issue arises, detailed further by the lecture: - Can the custom of only accepting the institutions’ own lecturers’ materials be broken? - Can cooperation in curriculum development be achieved? If yes, what is required for it? - How can a structure be devised for curricula used by multiple institutions that allows for maximum flexibility and modularisation for application? (‘Bunch of grapes’) - Is it true that if applying the same curriculum, there would be no difference between the courses offered by different higher education institutions? In my lecture I provide a possible answer to each of these questions.

The article introduces the birth and the operation of a unique Hungarian database, which contains specialist dictionaries and lexicons of several scientific areas. It describes how it can be used from user- and administrator point of view. I also tried to position it in a historical background as well. The purpose of the collection was to take stock of all works (monolingual, bilingual, multilingual) which list the vocabulary of a particular field and which (were): - published in Hungary; - not published in Hungary, but has a Hungarian author; and - Works called dictionaries are also the subject of collection, e.g. manuals with adictionary-like appendix. - One of the languages must be Hungarian.

Ebben a rövid tanulmányban először rövid áttekintést szeretnék nyújtani a mikroadatokkal ellátott szemantikus jelölőkről s azok általános könyvtári felhasználásáról. A továbbiakban néhány a webarchiválást érintő kihívást említek meg az archivált tartalom megjelenítése, a kutatástámogatás és a hosszútávú digitális megőrzés témaköreihez kapcsolódva. A tanulmány fő célja annak vizsgálata, hogy a mikroadatok felhasználása miként tud segíteni e kihívások kezelésében. Fontosnak tartom kiemelni az International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) Research Working Group tevékenységét, mely nemzetközi értelemben is segíthet összehangolni az érintett kutatási és gyakorlati felhasználási tevékenységeket.

SORIN (Search Organize Research and Interact) is a cloud based research workflowplatform that uses APIs to leverage the Alma-Primo catalog system to a custom madeuser interface. SORIN allows researchers to build collections, annotate items, attachedfiles, and export their contents into Google Drive (see https://library.stedwards.edu/). Developed at the Saint Edward’s University library, SORIN has been in use for thepast three years. It is built on Phoenix and, through Rest APIs its central PostgreSQLdatabase is linked to an optional React front end. In its current version, it uses Googlefor authentication and Amazon S3 for file storage. SORIN has been in use at the SaintEdward’s University library as the default catalog user interface (see: https://library.stedwards.edu/) and it provides a concrete example of how a modern LSP (LanguageServer Protocol) can be extended into library services beyond search.

The Hungarian Library Institute launched a new service called konyvtarak.hu on March 2020. It is a website that promotes libraries and reading in general. It aims to be the starting and common access point for the services of libraries in Hungary. The purpose of the site is to provide up-to-date information on library services, on the continuous development of libraries, on renewed and refurbished spaces, programs to the general public and on the new services readers can use thus shaping the images of libraries inthe society. We collect and want to make digital library services more visible. In addition to promote the libraries, we intend to bring reading and books closer to the visitors of the website. The study discusses the design, objectives and target groups of the website, as well as its services, and the communication related to the portal, the achievements in the six months since the launch and our plans for the future.

Reading, either in the traditional or digital form is a concern, whose importance today’s youth must be aware of. The representative national reading surveys of 2017 and 2019 of reading and library use habits carried out within the framework of the My library project demonstrated the declining popularity of reading. Furthermore, results of international reading comprehension surveys, especially the PISA tests pertaining to the specific ability of Hungarian students confirm this tendency. What can be done? What methods can we use to promote reading for the youth of the digital world? Programs popularizing reading can give potential answers. Since libraries play a significant role and they are perhaps the most influential in popularizing reading the opinion of the library profession related to these programs should be explored. In my presentation I compare domestic and international trends related to the popularization of reading. I will also introduce the results of an on-line questionnaire-based survey concerning the library profession’s views on the efficiency of such programs along with discussing the potential role of libraries and the expectations for the future.

In the last 3 years, Electronic Information Service National Programme (EISZ) concluded transformative agreements with the leading Hungarian and international scholarly publishers which enable corresponding authors affiliated at the consortium member institutions to publish journal articles under an open access license. Terms and conditions provided by these transformative agreements require the implementation of new workflows for the publishers as well as for the librarians and the researchers. The lecture introduces the opportunities provided by these new generation agreements, and presents its success and benefits for the Hungarian research community. It describes the conditions of open access publishing in this framework and focuses on the efficiency of various methods of identification and authorisation used by the publishers.

In 2020/21, the collaborative distributed Hungarian library platform will be completed and introduced, revolutionizing library services with state-of-the-art IT solutions. The Hungarian National Library Platform (HNLP) puts the national library services, the common catalog and interlibrary loan, the services of the ISBN office, the digitization cooperation on a new foundation, and integrates the Hungarian National Namespace and opens up entity-based data connections beyond the library world. It expands the range of services provided to readers, providing legitimate digital content to both library visitors and remotely logged in online users. It provides modern interfaces for publishers and authors to expand the range of information about their publications with relevant data. It is open to libraries to replace, in part or in full, their existing IT solutions and, moving into the cloud-based system, use it as their own integrated library platform. The parameterdriven HNLP allows connected libraries to create a unique brand image, deliver their collections in the most diverse way, while becoming an integral part of an entity-based data model-based metadata repository and digital object repository. The collaboration between libraries, which began in 2016 with the design of the new platform, has now entered a new phase: our partners review the specifications, the libraries provide their data for the developed modules, test the system elements, and then the entire platform in an integrated way. The first module of the HNLP, the “old and rare books” module, was launched in October 2019, followed by the launch of the Library Science Library in 2020, and in 2021 the operation of the National Széchényi Library in this modern environment will follow. What are the main pillars of this platform? What secures the required flexibility? What makes it capable of accommodating any type of metadata and serving any type of library? How can all types of libraries be connected, small and large libraries, university and church, public and private libraries alike? How is the system open to the processing of archival and museum materials? What has been achieved so far and what are the next steps until the full transition?

A nyílt tudomány (Open Science, OS) a kutatási folyamat minden összetevőjét hozzáférhetőbbé, láthatóbbá kívánja tenni. A kutatók vállára ezzel újabb terhek kerülhetnek – mind a költségek, mind a feladatok szempontjából. A nyílt tudomány gyakorlata csak akkor terjedhet el, ha ezeket a terheket csökkenteni tudjuk. A nyílt hozzáférésű tudomány kívánalmainak egyike a megfelelő dokumentálás, ami jelentős részben metaadatok alkalmazását jelenti. Mind a metaadatok létrehozását, mind a kutatási objektumok egyedi azonosítókkal való ellátását megkönnyíti, ha a kutatás során ezeket a feladatokat támogató szoftvereket alkalmaznak. Előadásunkban az ilyen, OS-támogató vagy OS-barát szoftverek kérdését járjuk körül, a kutatási adatoktól egészen a tudományos publikációkig.
