Leucojum vernum a Súri-Bakonyalján és a faj Bakony-vidéki elterjedésének áttekintése

A Leucojum vernum Magyarországon dunántúli elterjedési súlypontú, montán karakte­rű faj. A Magyar-középhegységben ismert állományainak zöme a Magas-Bakonyra és nyugati peremvi­dékére korlátozódik, néhány egyéb, szigetszerű előfordulással. (Zalaszántó-medence; Tapolcai-medence). A faj regionális elterjedési képét számottevően módosítja, hogy 2020 tavaszán jelentős egyedszámú populációja került elő Súri-Bakonyalja egy eddig kevésbé kutatott, más növényföldrajzi szempontból fontos növényfajokat (pl. Anemone nemorosa, Corydalis intermedia, Veratrum album) is őrző völgyrendszerében. A populáció előkerülése apropóján a dolgozatban áttekintésre kerül a faj regionális elterjedési képe, a térségből származó herbáriumi és publikált adatainak feldolgozása.

Seasonal dynamics of shoot biomass of dominant clonal herb species in an oak–hornbeam forest herb layer

Seasonal fluctuations of light availability, nutrient concentrations, and moisture affect plant population traits like density, standing biomass, and flowering. We analyzed seasonal changes of density and shoot biomass of the four most frequent herb species growing in an oak–hornbeam forest community, i.e., Anemone nemorosa, Ficaria verna, Galeobdolon luteum, and Galium odoratum. In 2010 and 2011 plant biomass was harvested from 7 to 10 randomly situated square sample plots (0.36 m2) in the homogenous oak–hornbeam forest community every week in the spring and every two weeks in the summer and autumn. The highest abundance of Anemone nemorosa reached over 1000 shoots per m2, of Ficaria verna 459.5 shoots per m2, of Galium odoratum 83.6 shoots per m2, and of Galeobdolon luteum 98.4 shoots per m2 (means for 2010 and 2011, based on all sample plots). We did not observe negative correlation between density and shoot biomass. Growth rates of vegetative shoot biomass amounted to 0.857 mg day−1 for Anemone nemorosa, 0.467 mg day−1 for Ficaria verna, 0.722 mg day−1 for Galium odoratum, and 0.448 mg day−1 for Galeobdolon luteum (means for 2010 and 2011). Spring ephemerals had much higher densities of shoots than summer-greens. Summer-greens reached higher biomass of individual shoots than spring ephemerals. Flowering shoots constituted only 4, 2, and 11% of all shoots for A. nemorosa, F. verna, and G. odoratum, respectively. More resource availability resulting in high shoot biomass did not translate to higher share of flowering shoots.

Climatic Causes of Plant Flowering Time Displacement in the Central Forest Reserve

Meteorological series and phenological data in the framework of our environmental monitoring in the South taiga Central Forest Reserve were analyzed. During 1984– 2017, the average annual air temperature was 4.63±0.41°C, and the average annual rainfall was 2.14±0.12 mm/day. For eight of the 43 (19%) climatic parameters, reliable linear trends of variability were found: an increase of air temperature in July, August, September, and December; an increase of soil temperature in December; an increase of precipitation in November and December; and a decrease of precipitation in September. Three causes of their directed long-term changes were revealed, namely: a shift of the winter timing, violation of the annual dynamics of climatic parameters and a change in the precipitation type during a longer autumn – snow to be replaced by rain. Of the 11 species of vascular plants, the statistical significance of the long-term displacement of phenological dates was proven for Anemone nemorosa: the longer the autumn and softer the beginning of the winter, the earlier the onset of its flowering. Two classification types of vascular plants in identifying interspecific synchrony in the phenological events variation were considered. Variability components of phenological phenomena occurrence was estimated: the share of long-term trends of the shift in phenological dates timing due to changes in reserve climatic system is from 20 to 68% of the total sign dispersion; interannual climatic fluctuations explain 5–34% of its variability; and the proportion of variability under unaccounted factors influence is high (21–64%). Species with a high proportion of their long-term variability components (Anemone nemorosa: more than 60%) are recommended to use as indicators of climate change under the conditions of the study area.

Experience herb relocation for preserving its population during reconstruction period

The article is devoted to the experience of transplantation Anemone nemorosa L., listed in the Red book of the Vladimir region as a rare species (status category 3). A feature of this work is transplanting in the autumn period, in connection with the construction of a natural place of growth, in accordance with the conclusion of environmental impact assessment. The aim of the work was to preserve the aboriginal population in natural conditions that are close in their ecological characteristics to the natural place of growth and which do not fall into the zone of reconstruction. Methods. We used the geobotanical description method, soil selection methods, and laboratory methods. Results. The data of the geobotanical description of the initial and recipient habitats of the Anemone nemorosa and soil characteristics are presented. The method of plant transplantation is described in detail. Conclusion. The phenollogical observations made in May 2019 showed that Anemone nemorosa successfully transferred the autumn transplant to a new place. An artificial population of Anemone oakwood was formed, which requires further monitoring studies for adaptation and resistance to transplantation.

In Vitro Anti-proliferative Activity and Mechanism of Action of Anemone nemorosa

Anemone nemorosa is part of the Ranunculaceae genus Anemone (order Ranunculales) which comprises more than 150 species. Various parts of the plant have been used for the treatment of numerous medical conditions such as headaches, tertian agues, rheumatic gout, leprosy, lethargy, eye inflammation as well as malignant and corroding ulcers. The Anemone plants have been found to contain various medicinal compounds with anti-cancer, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-microbial activities. To date there has been no reported evidence of its use in the treatment of cancer. However, due to the reported abundance of saponins which usually exert anti-cancer activity via cell cycle arrest and the induction of apoptosis, we investigated the mode of cell death induced by an aqueous A. nemorosa extract by using HeLa cervical cancer cells. Cisplatin was used as a positive control. With a 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 20.33 ± 2.480 µg/mL, treatment with A. nemorosa yielded a delay in the early mitosis phase of the cell cycle. Apoptosis was confirmed through fluorescent staining with annexin V-FITC. Apoptosis was more evident with A. nemorosa treatment compared to the positive control after 24 and 48 h. Tetramethylrhodamine ethyl ester staining showed a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential at 24 and 48 h. The results obtained imply that A. nemorosa may have potential anti-proliferative properties.

The Study of the Composition of Chloroform Fraction of Anemone nemorosa L.

Expanding the range of herbal drugs is among the priorities of the modern pharmacy. The analysis presented in this article is drawn from a broader qualitative study examining the composition of Anemone nemorosa L. chloroform fraction. The study revealed 38 compounds, and 32 of them were identified. The investigated lipophilic extract has an antimicrobial activity both in terms of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. The maximal antimicrobial action of the investigated extract was shown to Escherichia coli. The significant content of biologically active substances in the lipophilic volatile fraction of Anemone nemorosa indicates the prospects for further study.

THE EARLY SPRING SYNUSIAS IN THE FORESTS OF FAGETO-CARPINETO-QUERCETA ROBORIS SUBFORMATION ON THE TERRITORY OF PRECARPATHIAN REGION (UKRAINE)

In the article were presented the results of studying the early spring synusias in the forests of Fageto-Carpineto-Querceta roboris subformation on the Pricarpathian territory. In the studied subformation were separated five associations: Fageto-Carpineto-Quercetum roboris galiosum odorati, Fageto-Carpineto-Quercetum roboris caricetum pilosae, Fageto-Carpineto-Quercetum roboris vincosum, Fageto-Carpineto-Quercetum roboris galeobdolosum, Fageto-Carpineto-Quercetum roboris hederosum. The revealed early spring synusias are formed by the following herbal species: Leucojum vernum L. (Amaryllidacea), Galanthus nivalis L. (Amaryllidacea), Dentaria glandulosa Waldst. et Kit. (Brassicaceae), Anemone nemorosa L.(Ranunculaceae), Scilla bifolia L. (Liliaceae), Isopyrum thalictroides L. (Ranunculaceae), Corydalis cava (L.) Schweigg. Koerte (Papaveraceae) та Gagea lutea (L.) Ker.-Gawl. (Liliaceae). It appears before the leaves blooming and forms the specific white-lilac-blue aspect. Galanthus nivalis L. synusias develops the first and then in the third decade of March develops the group with Anemone nemorosa L. domination. Last years as the result of the negative anthropogenic influence the number of Leucojum vernum L. and Galanthus nivalis L. groups – the rare ephemeroids put to the Ukrainian Red book was abruptly shortened.
