Purpose Deodorant, as a hygienic product, becomes a daily necessity product and has significant benefits to its users. Yet, the real motivation for consuming deodorant is not fully understood, and therefore, this study aims to join the extant literature in this context by investigating the effect of personal values. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative study using the laddering approach (means-end analytic) was used and 50 college students participated in this study. Findings The hierarchical value maps show that achievement, power, security and benevolent personal values are responsible for millennials deodorant consumption behavior. Fragrance, price and antiperspirant are the most important attributes that appeal to such consumption. Practical implications The findings also suggested that three different situational factors generated these different personal values. It includes a pre-career environment, puberty and maintaining self-stability. The strongest attributes that appeal to millennials are fragrance, price, antiperspirant, brand, long-lasting quality and packaging. An increasingly dynamic career context has changed the nature of careers and led to the emergence of more autonomous and self-directed boundaryless careers. The common idea in different forms of boundaryless careers is mobility. Psychologically and physically mobile individuals start to manage their own careers in terms of their personal pursuits. In such a career environment, the nature of career success has also changed. The importance of subjective career success has been emphasized more than objective career success because only individuals themselves can meaningfully define and assess their career success with reference to their own self-defined standards, needs, and values in such an unstable environment. With the transmission of career responsibility to the individuals, the need to develop career competencies as knowing why competencies, knowing whom competencies, and knowing how competencies emerge in order to survive and become successful. This study reviews career concept and the new perspectives as a boundaryless career within a constantly changing environment which makes it impossible to become successful unless gaining new competencies and survival methods and the new perspectives on career success with a growing increase in subjective career success instead of objective career success

This chapter explores the use of hair, a common yet complex object, as an entry point to student-led practice. As students bring their personal, past, and present experiences into the classroom in a safe, supported space on a topic everyone can relate to, so they are able to engage in complex, opposing viewpoints. Students are supported by the educator who serves as a facilitator, and various outside guests from diverse backgrounds established in their careers via Zoom, a technological, virtual space who also share their experiences with hair in their career environment. In this setting, students are led by their own hair stories, collaboratively discuss and debate viewpoints, and are supported by professionals in their own workspaces. Combined, this multi-level layer of culturally based learning is both student-led, technologically supported, and provides opportunities to achieve both hard and soft skills, all through the lens of a single, unifying artifact, hair.
