The evolution of bicycles is tremendous. Humans recognized its function, importance, and value this non-motorized vehicle as an important part of their daily life. In Malaysia, most urban roads are designed for the motor vehicle therefore cycling is not a greater option for commuting to workplaces. This study aims at assessing the compatibility level of cycle lanes. Section 14, Shah Alam, Malaysia was selected as the case study, and a questionnaire survey utilizing the Simple Random Sampling technique was conducted involving 133 samples. The Bicycle Compatibility Index (BCI) was applied to calculate the capability of bicycle lanes. Results demonstrated the weaknesses of bike path infrastructure and its compliance to guidelines. The compatibility level of cycle lanes is still low, therefore, suggesting an enhanced approach to the planning and development of cycle lanes. The outcome of this study can be a guide to the local authority yet applicable to other urban areas.

AbstractCar industry is one of the most important sectors in Romania with a significant impact on country’s GDP. This paper presents the construction and the evaluation of an Analytical Network Process (ANP) market share model, which emerged from extended in-depth interviews with top managers of the main Romanian car industry producers. ANP model was used to estimate the market share and compare the results with the actual values, expressed by Saaty’s compatibility index, then validate this model and offer comparative numerical weights of importance car industry in Romania. The conclusions of the article are in line with the research in the field and show that the automotive market shares in Romania estimated by the ANP model are confirming the companies’ calculations. The software we have used in our analysis was Super Decision 3.2 software.

Compatibility in activity preferences refers to the shared enjoyment of daily activities, such as walking and interacting with others, and it is an indicator of the behavioral dimension of compatibility, which mainly refers to exercise and play. It has been found that individuals who are more compatible with their dogs have a better relationship with them, which can explain some of the benefits of human-dog interaction. However, research to explain how and why human-animal relationships are potentially therapeutic is still needed. The objective of this quantitative study was to compare the benefits of human-dog interaction for both humans and dogs between people who were and were not compatible with their dogs. Ninety people with scores of 50% or less on the compatibility index and 110 people with 100% compatibility participated in the study. The groups were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test. The people in the group with greater compatibility reported more subjective happiness and less perceived stress, a stable dog-feeding routine, and more frequent daily walks and playing sessions; additionally, for their dogs, they reported a lower frequency of aggressive and fearful behaviors and higher trainability scores. In conclusion, compatibility in activity preferences helps explain the benefits of human–animal interaction.

Bicycle is widely used in Japan by people of all age groups in daily usage, which may significantly ease traffic congestion. Responding to the cyclists increasing, the method to assess the quality of bicycle travel become necessary. Previous studies reported several approaches to obtain evaluation methods. However, cycleway evaluation in Japan is still far behind the evaluation methods developed in Europe or America. This paper concentrated on familiarizing readers with two methods for evaluating the quality of bicycle facilities and then presenting some proposals of cycleway evaluation in Japan referencing to these two methods. The first method, Bicycle Compatibility Index (BCI), is used to evaluate the road environment for cycling according to the road characteristics by statistical analysis. The second method, Bicycle Level of Service (BLOS), also represents an evaluation of safety for bicyclists. Both of the above methods offered equations of comfort and safety perceptions of bicyclists according to cycling environments. By introducing these methods in combination, this paper enables the readers to maximize the comparative advantages of both BCI and BLOS. The comparison includes sensitivity of variables and the development of both methods. Then we applied BCI and BLOS to evaluate the target roadways in Kumamoto, Japan.

This essay deals with misunderstandings which, in this author’s opinion, seem to prevail in the minds of some AHP critics. The main apparent problem is the lack of necessary knowledge about the scale concept including what a scale is, how it is mathematically defined, and what one can or cannot do with a scale. This knowledge is critical for a good understanding of AHP. This study will review the concept of scales, discuss common misconceptions, introduce the compatibility index G and explain how it addresses one of the previous fallacies perpetuated about AHP.

Tanjung Tedung Coastal Coast is located in Tanjung Pura Village, Sungai Selan Subdistrict, Bangka Tengah. Regency which has the potential to be developed into a mangrove ecowista area, because almost along the coastal area is overgrown with ecosystem mengrove. This study aims to identify the potential of mangrove ecosystems and calculate the Tourist Compatibility Index (IKW) potential of mangrove area as ecotourism area of mangrove. The data were collected from March to April 2018 in Tanjung Tedung Coastal Coast. The research method used is Purposive Sampling. Research area taken as many as 3 stations. The data analysis is based on tourism conformity index matrix (IKW). Data of mangrove tourism conformity parameter consisting of: mangrove thickness, mangrove density, mangrove species, tidal and biota object. The result of measurement of mangrove tourism match parameters are thickness at station I worth 303,57 m, station II worth 366,57 m and station III worth 1,061,44 m. Density of station I with value 0.11 ind / m². Station II worth 0.10 ind / m² and station III with value 0.16 ind / m². Found 9 Species of mangroves and other biota such as: fish, shrimp, crab, molluscs, reptiles, birds and other biota. The result of conformity analysis to be used as ecotourism area with IKW value of station I worth 78.95% with Appropriate category. Furthermore at station II IKW value is 78.95% with Appropriate category. and station III got the value of IKW worth 96.05% with category Very
