Campus discovery is an important feature of a university student induction process. Approaches towards campus discovery differ from course to course and can comprise guided tours that are often lengthy and uninspiring, or self-guided tours that run the risk of students failing to complete them. This paper describes a campus self-discovery induction game (Geospatial Crypto Reconnaissance) which aims to make students aware of campus resources and facilities, whilst at the same time allowing students to make friends and complete the game in an enthusing and exciting way. In this paper we describe the game construct, which comprises of a location, message, and artefact, and also the gameplay. Geospatial Crypto Reconnaissance requires students to identify a series of photographs from around the campus, to capture the GPS coordinates of the location of the photograph, to decipher a ciphered message and then to return both the GPS coordinates and the message for each photograph, proving that the student has attended the location. The game had a very high satisfaction score and we present an analysis of student feedback on the game and also provide guidance on how the game can be adopted for less technical cohorts of students.

Background: Laparotomy forms an important subset of general surgical operations. This study aimed at collecting the baseline information on postoperative analgesia, to detect deficiencies in current management of postoperative pain and to aid as a reference for future endeavours aimed at improving pain management following abdominal surgeries. Methods: It was conducted as a prospective descriptive study in patients undergoing elective laparotomies in the Department of General Surgery of a tertiary care institute, for two years. The patterns of prescription and administration of analgesic drugs for postoperative pain after abdominal surgery, incidence and severity of postoperative pain, adverse effects of drugs and patient satisfaction were assessed. Results: A total of 289 elective laparotomies were performed. Combinations of Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) with opioids, epidural analgesia (EA) with supplemental intramuscular ketorolac and PCEA (Patient controlled EA) provided effective pain relief with high satisfaction score (3/4) and were associated with low sedation (1/3) and the least side effects. Patients receiving NSAIDs had higher pain score with lesser satisfaction score and lower sedation score. IV-PCA with morphine provided effective pain relief with high satisfaction score (3/4), with least side effects, but patients had high sedation score (2/3). Around 55 (55/289; 19.03%) patients experienced postoperative nausea and vomiting, which responded to antiemetic treatment. Conclusions: A combination of NSAIDs with opioids provided effective pain relief, high satisfaction with less sedation and least side effects. Epidural analgesia with supplemental intramuscular ketorolac and PCEA also provided effective pain relief with high satisfaction and less sedation with least side effects.

Background: Labour analgesia though widely practised is still not routinely administered to all parturients in India. We conducted this historical observational cross-sectional study to assess parturient knowledge and factors affecting satisfaction in those who received epidural labour analgesia; aiming at improving the services. Methods: All parturients requesting epidural labour analgesia have the catheter sited and the drug administered as per institutional protocols. A feedback form is given to these parturients, postnatally. The form consists of questions regarding her knowledge of and experience with labour analgesia, including her satisfaction score on a scale of 0 to 10. Author collected these forms and analyzed them along with information from the labour epidural register and the discharge summary. Results: The mean satisfaction score was 7.1 (SD- 2.28). 46 parturients (31.08%) had ‘low satisfaction’ (<7 score) and 102 parturients (68.9%) had ‘high satisfaction’ (≥7 score). The timing of initiation of epidural analgesia within the parturients expectations and adequate analgesia were two factors that were found to affect satisfaction scores, with statistically significant values (p=0.002 and p=0.006 respectively). Those with a very short or very long duration of labour analgesia, were more likely to give less satisfaction scores (p=0.023 and p=0.002). Only 30% of parturients had heard of labour analgesia in the past. Conclusions: In this setting good analgesia and receiving it on time are of utmost importance in those receiving epidural labor analgesia, emphasising the need for adequate analgesia and prompt initiation of the same.

Introduction: The number of total knee replacements performed (TKR) is increasing and so are patient expectations and functional demands. The mean age at which orthopedic surgeons may indicate TKR is decreasing, and therefore return to sport (RTS) after TKR is often an important expectation for patients. The aim of this study was to analyze the mid-term RTS, recreational activities, satisfaction level, and forgotten joint level after TKR. Methods: Between January 2015 and December 2016, 536 TKR (same implant design, same technique) were performed in our center. The mean age at survey was 69 years with a mean follow-up of 43 months. All patients who did not have a follow-up in the last 6 months were called. Finally, 443 TKR were analyzed. RTS was assessed using the University of California Los Angeles Scale (UCLA), forgotten joint score (FJS), and Satisfaction Score. Results: In this study, 85% of patients had RTS after TKR with a mean UCLA score increasing from 4.48 to 5.92 and a high satisfaction rate. Satisfaction with activity level was 93% (satisfied and very satisfied patients). The RTS is more important for people with a higher preoperative UCLA score and a lower American Society of Anesthesiologist score (ASA). Each point increase in ASA score is associated with reduced probability to RTS by 52%. Discussion: RTS and recreational activity were likely after TKR with a high satisfaction score. Preoperative condition and activity are the two most significant predictive factors for RTS. Level of evidence: Retrospective case series, level IV.

Penile prostheses are associated with very high satisfaction rates which have been reproduced consistently in the literature with rates of over 80%; the risk of infection, mechanical failure, and erosion are quoted as 2–16%, less than 6%, and less than 6%, respectively. When compared with Viagra®, vacuum therapy, or injection therapy, a penile prosthesis resulted in significantly higher satisfaction and sexual activity frequency. Penile prostheses should therefore be considered the gold standard treatment for the management of erectile dysfunction refractory to conservative measures. This chapter explores the surgical principles surrounding the surgical management of erectile dysfunction.

Abstract BACKGROUND: The main challenges that nephrologists are facing worldwide are lower income, dissatisfactory payment models, long work hours and burnout. This study aimed to identify factors associated with nephrologists' satisfaction in Lebanon and Jordan. METHODS: A survey was sent to Lebanese and Jordanian nephrologists about demographics, job satisfaction (5-Likert scale), workload and reimbursement. RESULTS: Sixty-seven nephrologists responded, 59 were complete. Mean age was 46.9 ±12.5 years, 39% women. Mean total job satisfaction score was 3.39±0.45. Respondents reported low rates of satisfaction towards job opportunities (20%), income (25%) and administrative support (32%) and high satisfaction rates in relationship with patients (78%) and colleagues (73%). 62.7% of respondents were paid fee for service and income was significantly higher among males (p<0.001). Lebanese nephrologists had payment delays of 12 months and it was significantly associated with lower work-life balance (p=0.038). 61% of respondents worked > 30 hours weekly and 22% followed > 40 dialysis patients. Using regression analysis, older age, working > 10 hours per week and monthly income > 5000 US$ were significantly associated with higher total job satisfaction score (p= 0.002, 0.004 and 0.028 respectively). Satisfaction towards income was significantly lower among females (p < 0.024). Finally, gender discrimination was significantly perceived by women (p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Younger age, less workload, lower income and payment delays are associated with dissatisfaction among the surveyed nephrologists. Gender differences are significant with lower satisfaction among women. Decision makers need to address payment delays, support women and regulate students' entry to nephrology programs to avoid unemployment.

No one can avoid feeling frustrated, and contemporary schools should take the lead in supporting mental health. A sustainable approach to such education can be found in Zhuangzi (ca 369–ca 286 BCE), a representative of Taoist schools who is credited with writing the Zhuangzi, a philosophical and literary text. The first section of this study uses qualitative research methods to identify 70 concepts regarding self-adaptation in the Zhuangzi and classifies them into 11 categories. The individual sentences from which these concepts originated are then logically reordered by category to create texts that aid a reader’s understanding of Zhuangzi’s philosophy. The second section of this study uses purposive sampling through an online questionnaire to consider university student feedback on self-adaptation philosophy. Overall, 84.12% of students agreed or strongly agreed that self-adaptation could help them deal with frustration, and 40.80% of students identified the category “mental state” as the most helpful. Furthermore, 88.91% of students reported that thinking about their mental state was most helpful in interpersonal relationship situations. Thus, self-adaptation offers individuals a sustainable, healthy means of dealing with life’s challenges. The findings of this study may have far-reaching impacts on European and American society by cultivating the general public’s interest in Zhuangzi’s philosophy.

Guided by Basic Psychological Need Theory, we investigated the combined associations between need satisfaction and need frustration (i.e., need profiles) and their relations with theoretically relevant correlates including mindfulness, physical literacy, physical activity enjoyment, and physical activity. The participants were Singapore-based school students (N = 844, Mage = 12.45, SDage = 1.99, boys = 53.1%) who completed a cross-sectional survey. The results of the latent profile analysis identified four distinct need profiles: profile 1–average satisfaction and frustration (n = 364, 44.1%); profile 2–low satisfaction (n = 251, 29.7%), above average frustration; profile 3–very high satisfaction, very low frustration (n = 144, 17.1%); and profile 4–high satisfaction, very high frustration (n = 85, 10.1%). Among these, profile 3 was the most adaptive one; it had the highest levels of mindfulness, physical literacy, physical activity enjoyment, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Experiences of need satisfaction countered the negative effects of need frustration on these correlates. These findings enhance our understanding of students’ psychological need experiences and highlight the need for investigating the combined associations between need satisfaction and need frustration.

Restaurant is a limitless industry, serving food and drinks to everyone near and far from their homes. It takes innovation and creativity in a business in order to continue to compete with other similar companies. Coffee shops are starting to grow and are mushrooming especially in big cities like Bandung. Co-creation is a term with the intention of allowing consumers to create shared value through collaboration their own desired drink which is expected to increase the level of visits at the coffee shop. This research was conducted in a period of less than one year, so the approach method used is a cross sectional method. Through this method with the aim of researchers being able to reveal and examine how much influence co-creation has in coffee shop consumer visits in Bandung. Based on the variables studied, the research method used is the quantitative method. The results show that Co-Creation is in the very high category and is an indication that the majority of respondents have a tendency to believe that all creative activities and social processes through collaboration between the coffee shop and their consumers have been carried out well. The level of visits is in the high category, this shows that respondents have high satisfaction so that it encourages buying behavior and loyalty. This means that a well co-creation will create the consumers to make visits and purchase attitudes.

Bishops take seriously their vocations as “successors to the Apostles” and they feel the weight of the responsibilities placed upon their shoulders in an increasingly secularized and seemingly post-Christian era. However, as this chapter demonstrates, they do not allow those daily burdens and their concomitant frustrations to stifle their contentment. This chapter presents the overall very high levels of satisfaction among bishops, even higher than those reported by Catholic priests in the most recent national study of priests. We discovered that their burnout rates are very low even in the midst of such long and intense workdays. Their number one source of satisfaction is linked to their liturgical role. High satisfaction is also derived from their community leadership role. While they embrace their administrative work willingly, they do not report deriving great satisfaction from it.

AbstractAim: Patient-oriented pharmaceutical care in pharmacies could improve patient satisfaction and influence patient’s choice of a community pharmacy. The aim of the work was to assess patient satisfaction and attendance in community pharmacies in Slovakia. Methods: A self-administered, anonymous questionnaire was distributed to patients visiting 33 community pharmacies in a total of 23 Slovak cities during October-December 2013. The questionnaire contained 29 items and three dimensions were supposed (managing therapy, interpersonal relationship, general satisfaction). A 5-point Likert-type scale (1 = very satisfied, 2 = satisfied, 3 = neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, 4 = dissatisfied, 5 = very dissatisfied) was used for assessing patient satisfaction. The results are presented in percentages and by the level of satisfaction within the range: high satisfaction (score 1.00-2.50), moderate satisfaction (score 2.51-3.50) and low satisfaction (score 3.51-5.00). Reasons for attendance in the community pharmacy and factors influencing pharmacy choice were evaluated either. Results: A total 2 844 respondents were included into the survey. Patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical care achieved high satisfaction level: interpersonal relationship (1.85 ± 0.598; 86.7% highly satisfied respondents) and general satisfaction (2.02 ± 0.643; 71.3% highly satisfied respondents). Managing therapy scored lower (2.24 ± 0.704; 65.4% highly satisfied respondents). The most frequently reported reasons for attending community pharmacy were to obtain prescription (70.4%) and over-the-counter medications (70.4%). The patient choice of a particular pharmacy was influenced by its location (74.1%). Conclusion: This study presents the first nationwide patientreported outcomes about patient satisfaction and attendance in community pharmacies in Slovakia. Future development and advancement of pharmacy practice leading to higher patient satisfaction requires modification of community pharmacists’ professional behaviour in Slovakia namely in managing therapy of patients.
