<p>We investigated the growing quail patterns while feeding with different sources of copper. We conducted experimental studies in terms of problem research Laboratory of feed additives, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. We selected Pharaon quails as the material for scientific experiments which was carried out by analog group method. The study was conducted on 120 day-old Japanese quail chicks which were randomly divided into three group viz., 1, 2, and 3 of hundred birds each. Group 2 and 3 were given feed supplement, with copper sulphate, copper glycinate, and copper citrate twice per day – in morning and in evening along with basal diet and the group 1 was kept as control.</p><p>We established that body weight of quails fed with copper citrate (copper contain 8 mg/kg of feed) was by 2 % larger then in control group. During the study, we registered high level of quail preservation in the experimental groups. The poultry, which fed copper citrate had the lowest cost of feed per one kilo of growth.</p>

<p>The productivity of young meat quails was estimated at use of feed with different levels of arginine. Experimental studies were conducted in course of Problem Research Laboratory of feed additives of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Pharaoh quails were used for scientific experiment that was carried out by method of analog groups. Arginine level contamination in the diets of experimental groups was regulated by the introduction of feed synthetic analogs of amino acid. Part of arginine in mixed fodder of poultry control group was 1.57 % in the fodder of quails of 2-nd, 3-rd, 4-th and 5-th research groups and that were 1.39, 1.48, 1.66, 1.75 % respectively. The feeding of the was done by group and feed was distributed twice – in morning and evening. Ii was proved that the feeding of quails by mix fodder with arginine content of 1.66% contributes to increment of the live weight by 2.6 % on average, daily gain - by 2.7 %, the weight before slaughter by 3 % and reduce the cost of feed per 1 kg of growth by 1.5 %. This could contribute to the further research of arginine-lysine optimal ratio in mixed fodder for quails and their impact on zootechnical indices.</p>

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the influence of various levels of methionine in feed on the productivity of growing rabbits. The research was conducted in the conditions of the problematic research laboratory of feed additives of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Experiment was carried out on young rabbits HYLA hybrids of the French company EUROLAP, of which, on the principle of analogues, four groups were formed – control and 3 experimental, with 20 heads (10 females and 10 males) in each. The experiment lasted 42 days. Every week we conducted individual weighings of the experimental animals, calculation of weight gains and feed costs. For feeding of the experimental rabbits were used diets, which were balanced by energy and main nutritional elements, but differed in the content of methionine – the rabbits of the control group consumed feed containing methionine 0.29%, the second – 0.41%, the third – 0.54%, the fourth – 0.66%. Diet consisted of wheat bran, sunflower meal, sunflower hulls, alfalfa grass meal, premix and bone concentrate. At the 84th day of age, the largest body weight was in rabbits, which consumed feed containing methionine 0.41% – 3005.4 g, which is on 3.2% (P < 0.01) more than in the control. Over the entire period of the experiment largest absolute increase was observed in rabbits of second group (0.41% of methionine) and preponderated the indicator of animals of control group at 5.7% (P < 0.001). The average daily gain for the entire period of the experiment was the highest in rabbits of the second group, which was on 5.8% (P < 0.001) more than in control. Calculations of feed costs for the period of growth 42–84 days indicate that the rabbits that consumed a feed containing 0.66% methionine per 1 kg of body weight gain consumed it by 2.3% less than control, and those who consumed feed with contents 0.54% methionine – by 1.5% less, 0.41% methionine – by 1.2% less. According to experimental results, we can conclude that for maximum increases in body weight with moderate cost of feed per unit of weight must use diet containing methionine 0.41%.

<p>The authors have investigated the effect of different sources of metonin in the diets of quails on their productivity and carcass quality. Experimental studies were carried out with Pharaoh quails in Problematic Research Laboratory of Feed Additives in the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. The experiment was carried out by method of groups-analogues. Compound feed were fed in dry crumbled form; young birds were fed in a group. The daily amount of compound feed was divided in two parts – morning and evening rations with different sources of metonin (<em>DL-</em> metonin<em>,</em> <em>L-</em>metonin <em>and МНА)</em>).</p><p>We have found that compound feed with the <em>L-</em>metonin contributes to live body weight increase by 5.3% or 13 g, average daily growth by 5.9 % or 0.37 g, reduces feed conversion by 2.1%, increases the mass of not gutted carcass, semi gutted carcass and gutted carcass of 12.5 (6.2%), 12.5 (6.2%), and 10.5 g (6.4%); increases the mass of pectoral muscles and muscles of the pelvic limbs by 7.37 and 6.49 g (18.2% and 24.5%) and mass of liver by 0.94 g. Use of diets with<em> </em>MНA and DL-methionine did not significantly effect the productivity and carcass quality, whereas entry to the diet of MNA increased feed conversion by 5.4%. During the study period the safety of livestock which was fed with different sources of metonin ranged from 93 to 96%.</p><p>We believed the further research are needed to examine the impact of different sources of metonin on the egg production of egg-laying quails, morphological and chemical composition of eggs and their hatching quality.</p>

AbstractUse of antibiotics as feed additives has been reduced to avoid the hazard of drug residues, and consequently, the search for alternative natural additives has developed. Thus, the aim was to evaluate the influence of royal jelly (RJ) supplementation on milk composition, blood biochemical and antioxidant parameters of lactating ewes. Thirty-six Ossimi ewes were divided randomly into two groups (18 animals each). For a period of 4 weeks, the control group (CON) was fed a basal diet only, while the other group was fed the basal diet and supplemented with a single bolus of RJ (1000 mg/head). The RJ-supplemented ewes produced significantly higher milk protein, fat and total solids than the CON group. The RJ group had a significantly higher red blood cell count, haemoglobin content, haematocrit value and total leucocyte counts, but lower neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio when compared with the control treatment. The RJ group showed significantly higher concentrations of total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase activity and glutathione in the serum compared with the control treatment. In conclusion, RJ supplements can improve the nutritive value of milk fat and the serum antioxidant activities in lactating ewes.

This study was conducted to observe the effect of different administration method of garlic and neem on growth performances, feed efficiency and serum biochemical parameters for safe broiler production. The experiment was done for a period of 32 days with 384 one-day-old straight run broiler chicks. The broiler chicks were divided into six groups each of 64 birds and replicated to four subgroups each of 16 birds. The dietary groups were; control (basal diet; no additives), antibiotic (basal diet + antibiotic), garlic in feed (basal diet + 0.25% garlic powder), garlic in water (basal diet + garlic extracts), neem in feed (basal diet + 0.25% neem powder) and neem in water (basal diet + neem extracts). Results showed that the body weight and body weight gain increased significantly (P<0.05) in both the garlic and neem groups compared to the control group. Feed intake was not different (P>0.05) among the treatment groups. Garlic in feed and water and neem in feed groups showed better FCR (P<0.05) compared to the other treatment groups. There were no significant (P>0.05) difference in meat yield, bone development and dressing parameters except head and gizzard in different dietary groups. Supplementation of garlic with feed and water significantly (P<0.05) decrease cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL compared to the other groups. However, both the garlic and neem groups showed numerically higher HDL compare to the control group. There were no 0significant (P>0.05) differences in serum glucose and GPT among different treatment groups. GOT was significantly (P<0.05) lower in neem groups than that of garlic and antibiotic groups. Additive groups showed higher profitability than control group. Based on the results of the study, it may be suggested that the garlic and neem could be used both in feed and water as potential feed additives for safe broiler production. Bang. J. Anim. In the article, results of researches on an establishment of an optimum source of Manganese are resulted. Manganese was additionally added mixed fodder for quails grown for meat. Experimental studies conducted in terms of problem research laboratory of feed additives National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Independent experiment was conducted with growing Pharaoh Coturnix quails. We conducted a randomized block experiment with 3 treatments, each with 4 replicates of 25 growing birds (1 to 35 d of age). A diet consisting of corn, soybean and sunflower meal, wheat, fish meal, sunflower oil, premix (28% CP, 2.88 kcal of ME/g on 1 to 21d of age, 20.5% CP, 2.97 kcal of ME/g on 22 to 35 d of age) having severally Manganese sulphate, Manganese glycinate and Manganese citrate. Diets and water were offered ad libitum. After 5 weeks of dietary treatments the carcass composition (breast muscles, leg muscles, skin, subcutaneous fat, liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, gizzard) were affected by dietary treatments. Carcass weight and breast muscles was increased (P < 0.05) with organic sources of manganese in the diet. It found little effect (P = 0.053) sources of manganese in the fodder for eviscerated yield. Therefore, Manganese glycinate could be used as a good tool for improving carcass yield of quails.

A tolerance test was conducted with total 48 male turkeys (strain, Big 6, of three months old) over a period of 70 days, to find the effect of basil and thyme (medicinal plants) and some enzymes (kemzyme and zymogen) as feed additives on turkey toms’ performances. Forty-eight male turkeys (3 months old) were randomly divided into eight groups (6 toms/each). The control group (C) was fed a basal diet without feed supplementation. Group (B) was supplemented with basil (3 g basil/kg diet) group (T) was fed thyme (2 g thyme/kg diet), group (TB) was fed a mixture of basil and thyme (3 g basil + 2 g thyme kg diet), group (Z) was fed zymogen (1 ml/4 liter water); and group (K) was supplemented with kemzyme (0.5 g/kg diet), group (BTK) was fed a mixture of basil, thyme and kemzyme, the last group was fed with diet supplemented with basil, thyme and zymogen. Body weight gain, feed conversion ratio was measured at the end of 10th week of experiment. Blood samples were taken to measure some biochemical parameters, at the same time some tissues for morphological and molecular studies were prepared. Toms fed with either basil, thyme or kemzyme (BT) had significantly (p < 0.05) heaviest body gain than the control, (Z) or (BTZ). Significant increase occurred of the dressing percent (DP%) in group (B) and (BT) compared to the groups (T, Z, BTK and BTZ).Supplementation with (K) significantly decreases the serum total lipids than the (C) group and all supplemented groups at P < 0.05. Serum cholesterol levels of the groups (T), (BT) and (Z) recorded a significant increase than those of groups (C), (K), (BTK) and (BTZ). Meanwhile; triglyceride levels revealed significant decrease in control group at (p < 0.05) than all other groups. All experimental groups recorded no differences in both serum protein and albumin. Although there were an increased levels of serum AST of groups (T) and (Z) compared to control and other groups, meanwhile; (T) and (Z) groups revealed the lowest level of serum ALT.Concerning the antioxidant parameters, results reviewed that (T), (BT), (BTK) and (BTZ) had a higher level of MDA activity than the (B), (K) and (Z) supplemented groups illustrate no difference versus the serum (MDA) activity of the (C) group. Serum SOD activity revealed no differences within all groups. Serum TAC recorded significant increase in all supplemented groups compared to their level in control group.Studies of intestinal integrity; morphometry studies indicated that the villous height increased in groups (T), (Z) and (BTK) with a higher villous to crypt ratio and goblet cell numbers of group supplemented with (BTK). Moreover, the villous width revealed a significant increase in the (C) and (Z) groups. The measurement of total DNA of duodenal tissues which reflect the cell mitosis was higher in (T), (Z) and (BTK), (BTZ) at P < 0.05; the recorded results of DNA/protein of the same segment of the duodenal tissues revealed higher ratio (higher ribosomal activity) of (T), (Z), and (BTK) groups. Cell size of the duodenal tissues as indicated by (protein/DNA) was increased by (K) and decrease by (T) and (Z) supplementation at P < 0.05.
