Giventhat most of the educational use of the Internet by American high school students occurs outside the school day, and outside the direction of teachers, this article reviews e-learning pedagogy and implementation in schools, with a view to enhancing learning both inside and outside the classroom. Key concepts such as active learning, metacognition and transfer of learning, may be promoted by e-learning applications that emphasise active engagement, social learning, continuous feedback and real world applications. This paper also explores some implementation issues including teacher training, content and application standardisation, cheating among students, and software filters and surveillance. Recommendations are made about informing and training educators as the first step in promoting classroom re-connection with outside school use of the Internet by students.

Generation Z falls into the internet generation because it is the first generation born after the popularisation of the internet. Even though scientists don’t agree on when this generation starts and when it ends, after all, it is believed that the generation Z is made of people that are born in the nineties until today. Their parents belong to the millennial generation that is born in the eighties. Generation Z is the first generation that was raised as a part of the trend of being in the publics' eye, always posting about their lives on social networks. This potentially makes them an egocentric generation and a generation that does not have enough empathy. Although empathy is one of the key characteristics for happiness, generation Z finds happiness in their personal appearance and they care a lot about the opinions of others, that is, they care about the number of likes and the number of followers on social networks. Even though empathy is a key trait of happiness, generation Z finds happiness in physical appearance, and in others' opinion, that is they care about how many likes and how many followers on social networks they have. The purpose of this paper is to examine emotional empathy with the generation that is born in the late nineties, until generations 2006-2007, on a sample of 200 primary and high school students with an assumption that later generations are more empathic and that there is a difference between male and female subjects, that is that females are more empathic. Also, the paper provides case reports that represent the clinical population and not the average representatives of this generation and whose psychological problems may be associated with excessive use of the Internet and social networks. The results of the research indicate that the feeling of insecurity and lack of empathy in this generation is a risk factor for the development of low self-esteem and self-confidence, and ultimately more severe mental disorders, which can be reduced and prevented by a different approach to this generation.

The paper explores the notions of risks on the Internet in teachers and high school students. The study was carried out on a sample of teachers (n = 294) and school students of 9—11 grades (n = 180) using the analysis of social representations (Abric coefficient). The results confirmed that only a small part (5 out of 29) of the teachers’ notions about the riskiness of Internet communication is related to the use of the Internet; mostly they are based on some general ideas concerning risk behaviours in adolescents. At the same time, the teachers were not quite ready to cooperate with their colleagues to help reduce such risks: only 41.5% of the teachers showed readiness, given that they receive appropriate training. The study confirmed that the notions of risks associated with the active use of the Internet differ significantly in teachers and students, which can be explained by at least two reasons. Firstly, by the fact that the active use of the Internet does not affect the subjective well-being of the adolescents. Secondly, by the fact that for high school students, the Internet is a natural tool and a necessary attribute of their daily life, whereas, according to the outcomes of our study, only 20% of the teachers believe that they have the necessary skills to freely use the Internet as a means of their teaching activities. For the rest of the teachers, the Internet is still an object that must be mastered and treated as a source of threats and risks to the psychological development of schoolchildren.

The Internet as a fearful place is a theme apparent in numerous film and television presentations whereby fears and anxieties about new technology are exploited and new ethical challenges are mounted. The idea that the Internet can make a person, particularly a young person, vulnerable has much traction on screen: in the context of bullying, narratives frequently demonstrate that while it was once restricted to the parameters of school—the school grounds and the school day—the Internet enables such behavior to happen at any time and for it to occur repeatedly with an infinite audience. Anybody with Internet access—be it via their laptop or smartphone—can be bullied; equally, anyone with access to such technology can become the bully. Revictimization is the starting point for this discussion and is a key factor in distinguishing cyberbullying from the schoolyard terror of the pre–Web era. The public nature of many online attacks means that victims experience abuse in an ongoing fashion in turn, exacerbating and prolonging the trauma. Other themes explored include the flexibility of roles: whereas in schoolyard bullying the victim is frequently the weaker kid preyed upon by someone older and stronger; online the weaker kid can effortlessly become the bully themselves in a world where physical brawn is less important than computer prowess. Age and gender are also examined, along with emerging social concerns such as slut-shaming and revenge porn. These themes are each explored to expose the ways film and television depict social concerns exacerbated by new technology.
