This article contributes to the New Urbanism debate by considering the relationship between the identity of a place and quality in architecture and urban design. It combines a general theoretical discussion and an operational analysis with a comparative study of two commercial centres: Manufaktura in Łódź (Poland) and Val d’Europe in Marne-la-Vallée (France). It concludes that while the guidelines of New Urbanism can help both private investors and public stakeholders make better strategic decisions, according to the concept of quality architecture and urban design, its framework should be applied with care for community needs and the historical character of the city.

Organizations are currently investing more in information technology to store and process a vast amount of information. Generally, this information does not comply with any standard, which hinders the decision-making process. The cause of the difficulties can be attributed to Information Quality (IQ), which has technical characteristics related to the architecture used in Data Warehouse (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) environments. On the basis of the relevant literature in IQ, DW, and BI, a research model was created to identify the relations between components of DW/BI architecture and IQ dimensions. This research model was applied in a real case study (Big Financial Company in Brazil). This case study involved semi-structured interviews with managers and analysts. This chapter attempts to provide a better understanding of the relations between IT architecture and IQ in DW and BI environments. The authors hope to motivate the discussion around the development of IQ-oriented architectures for BI and the relationship between these concepts.

Project Management and Strategic Management are two subjects of major relevance within the corporate environment, despite usually being treated separately, at organizations. However, for Westphal et al. (2008) one of the ways to link project management and strategy is through project management maturity, and to this effect, a series of actions that can be characterized as critical factors (Rabechini Jr. & Pessoa, 2005) are required. Another way of seeking this connection is by means of the strategic map concept which, according to Kaplan and Norton (2004, p.10), “represents the lost link between strategy formulation and the execution of the strategy”. In this study the purpose is to evaluate the applicability of a strategic map, from a critical factors perspective, on project management maturity, as proposed by Silva Jr. and Luciano (2010). Thus a qualitative and exploratory approach case study was conducted at a large financial institution, where three interview scripts were applied on nine professionals, whereby three were leaders, three were project managers and three, functional managers. Furthermore, a graphical representation standard was designed picturing possible situations concerning the applicability of strategic objectives of the map proposed in the case under study. As a result, an important academic contribution to the vague and scarce literature on the relationship between project management and organizational strategy was verified, in addition to mapping possibilities of improvements for the organization, which otherwise might have been impossible to identify.

As this paper examines the relationship between Islamic values and entrepreneurial activity, it seeks to establish whether these values can be more effectively tapped into to raise the profile of Islamic form of entrepreneurship. A written, self-administered questionnaire among a random sample of Saudi entrepreneurs in the city of Riyadh was employed to generate descriptive data to assess the views and attitudes of Saudi entrepreneurs toward both conventional and Islamic forms of entrepreneurship. We find that Saudi entrepreneurs perceive themselves to be committed Muslims who consider entrepreneurship a religious and economic duty intended to generate halal (lawful) income to meet their financial obligations and to contribute to the falah (well-being) of the Muslim ummah (nation) in this life and hereafter. The findings also negate the prevalent conventional assumption that Islam is intrinsically anti-modernization and anti-development, and that the religiously-based Saudi culture would hinder the emergence and the development of a vibrant entrepreneurship culture in Saudi Arabia.

How are effective product pages designed for an e-commerce website? In the current economic context, Spanish companies must be able to justify all their investments. Therefore, so that they can compete effectively and obtain competitive advantages, they must know which elements generate value for the organization. The objective is to determine the most effective e-commerce merchandising strategies and techniques to help the companies in the food sector make the right strategic decisions, allowing them to increase the sales of their e-commerce websites. The recent revolution in technology has encouraged governments throughout the world to change their approaches to providing services to their citizens. Accordingly, some countries have set up e-government portals as one such approach to deliver services efficiently, economically, and promptly. The synergy of information with communication technology has the potential to make e-government a major advance; some citizens, however, are not satisfied with e-services introduced in several countries due to factors including lack of computer skills, limited availability of the Internet, and less than total coverage of necessary infrastructure. Effective E-government has several immediate benefits: 1) to lessen the need of travelling to and queuing in the various government departments; and 2) to combine access to different departments together in one government portal. A case study might be the e-government developments in Saudi Arabia, where, in the last few years, huge amounts of money have been expended to establish e-government service. In this context, the question arises whether the expenditure has been worthwhile. In the current research, the satisfaction levels with these services were surveyed among a set of users in order to determine drawback to using the system or any obstacles to access. Objectives were established in order to achieve the aims, and research questions devised to examine the usage of e-government and the service’s usability, as well as to identify the barriers and factors that can affect the use of e-government. The relationship between these barriers and overall satisfaction levels with respect to e-government projects is also analyzed.

This study aims to conceptualize the relationship between e-service quality and commitment waqif through e-trust with the moderator variables of communication and religiosity. The conceptual framework was developed from social exchange theory and previous literature on commitment. Nine propositions raised in this study consist of five proposed antecedents of e-service quality, namely environment quality, promotion quality, information quality, system quality, and outcome quality. Then the communication and religiosity factors are proposed no longer as determinants of commitment but as moderators, and e-trust is offered to be a mediator variable between e-service quality and commitment waqif. Many factors can affect commitment waqif, but this study only focuses on the effect of e-service quality. With this conceptual model, it is hoped that the donation platform manager can improve the e-service quality so that donors are loyal to donate through electronic services. In addition, to ease the burden on the government in collecting cash waqf funds and reach the potential that has been set faster. Further researchers can conduct empirical studies by proving all the arguments that have been put forward, also can use other factors that can affect commitment waqif.
