AbstractTo assess the impact of training programs, including a visualization test for hand disinfection, we monitored the hand-alcohol consumption of medical staff. The consumption increased steadily from 5.7 L of hand alcohol per capita per year in 1990 to 9.1 L in 1998. There was no significant increase in skin problems.

Introduction: Many factors impact the performance of graduating residents on certification exams. It is thought that most factors are related to the individual candidate’s ability, motivation, and work ethic. Less understood, however, is whether a training program has any impact on the preparation and performance of its graduates on certification exams. We present 20 years of results of a national preparatory exam that all graduating residents complete about three months before the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) qualifying urology exam. This exam, known colloquially as QUEST, aims to simulate the RCPSC exam with written and oral components. We aimed to analyze the impact of a training program on the performance of its residents. Methods: A retrospective review of exam results from 1997–2016 was conducted. During that time, 495 candidates from all 12 Canadian urology training programs undertook the exam. The performance of graduating residents from each individual program was grouped together for any given year. The different programs were anonymized, as the aim of this study is to assess the impact of a training program and not to rate the different programs. Statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA was conducted. Results: All training programs fall within one standard deviation of the mean for the written component, the oral component, and the overall score. The residents of four training programs had statistically better scores than the overall mean of the written component. The residents of three out of these four training programs also had statistically better scores than the overall mean of the oral component and the overall results of the exam. Conclusions: Most Canadian training programs prepare their residents adequately for this simulated certification exam in urology. However, there are some training programs that consistently prepare graduating residents to outperform their peers.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of various training programs and guidelines on improving the healthcare quality and patient. The training programs that we have explained in this study are related to Hand Hygiene compliance, Improving clinical outcomes and reducing financial burden and Preventing healthcare associated infection, This study Applied to many health institutions and healthcare employees in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, It is from this analysis that improve quality of healthcare through control training program, IPC training program improve hand hygiene compliance and reduces the HAIs prevalence, improves patient outcomes and reduces healthcare costs, training of all the persons involved in primary healthcare may fill the IPC gaps.

Research  background  and  hypothesis. The  efficacy  of  athlete’s  sport  performance  depends  on  the  targeted training in certain periods, organization, management, individual adaptation of an athlete to the loads of training and competitions.  Research aim of this work was to determine the impact of intensive training on sport performance of 14–15 year old athletes in rhythmic gymnastics and their optimization.  Research methods. The experiment resulted in modeling two different training programs and establishing the structure of the content of the training programs, as well as athletes’ sports performance. The training loads protocols registered the time for choreography, element mastering, competitive routines and athletic training in each training session. The efficacy of the training programs was established registering the realization of competitive activities under competitive conditions according to the number of points received by the gymnast of each training program and according to the place won. When we tried to establish if the training sessions and competitive loads matched the specificity of competitive activities, we registered the changes in the athletes’ heart rate during different training sessions.Research  results.  Training  of  athletes  in  two  training  programs  was  different  –  their  training  loads  were  not significantly different – from 672 to 697 hours a year, as well as the indices of the training days – from 5.4 to 5.6 days a week, but the training content differed significantly. In most effective training program choreographic training dominated (30.9%). Statistically significant differences (p  < 0.05) were found in the indices of explosive strength and muscular power, specific endurance and coordination movement abilities. At the beginning of the season and at the end of it the realization of the body movement technique performing routines with different tools was not different (p > 0.05). Discussion and conclusion. Sports performance of 14–15-year-old athletes in rhythmic gymnastics was mostly influenced  by  the  time  for  mastering  competitive  routines  (r  =  0.836);  however,  the  research  did  not  establish differences  in  intensifying  training.  Besides  the  importance  of  integral  athletic  fitness,  explosive  strength,  and strength endurance, the research established the significance of aerobic fitness (r  = 0.704) for sports performance. Moreover, the significance of body composition indices increased in comparison with previous training years: body height (r = –0.819), body weight (r = –0.657), and BMI (r = –0.836).Keywords: rhythmic gymnastics, training, performance, metamodel.

Introduction: The development of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has been causing changes globally in economic sectors and healthcare systems. Aim: The purpose of the survey we proposed, was to collect information provided directly by medical professionals during the first weeks of the SARS-CoV-2 virus epidemic about how the facilities in which they work. Material and methods: An anonymous survey was addressed to all medical staff and made available on the Internet for a period of 10 days. The research group consisted of 284 people. Results and discussion: Most (97.6%) of health care units have introduced changes in the way they function in connection with a pandemic, and almost every employee was informed about it (94.7%). In most centres, frequent hand disinfection (86.6%) and the wearing of face masks (60.2%) were recommended. Changes in working hours have been introduced in 60.6% cases, and nature of work has changed for 62.0% of respondents. Most respondents are afraid that they may be a source of infection for their relatives (81.3%), whilst almost half are afraid for their personal health (49.3%) and that of their colleagues (54.2%). For the vast majority of respondents, the use of disinfectants has been recommended (94.0%), the wearing of gloves (93.0%), and for 79.9% to wear protective masks. Conclusions: In a survey of medical staff, most people have been experiencing increased stress due to the current coronavirus pandemic. The greatest concern among medics is the possibility of transmitting the SARS-CoV-2 virus to their relatives and colleagues. According to respondents, the current pandemic will have an impact on how the healthcare system will change in Poland.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengetahui kepuasan peserta pelatihan, mengetahui pemahaman peserta pelatihan, mengetahui implementasi program pelatihan, menganalisis dampak program pelatihan, mengetahui manfaat program pelatihan, dan merekomendasikan perbaikan program. Dengan menerapkan empat model evaluasi pelatihan Kirkpatrick yaitu: tingkat kepuasan, tingkat pemahaman, tingkat implementasi, dan tingkat dampak untuk mengetahui hasil dari ketiga pelatihan vokasi, yaitu: pelatihan menjahit, hantaran, dan tata risa pengantin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta puas mengikuti pelatihan, peserta paham atas materi yang diberikan, peserta mampu mengimplementasikan program di tempat kerja, program pelatihan berdampak baik bagi peserta dan lembaga, manfaat yang didapatkan: peserta mampu membuka lapangan pekerjaan serta mampu bekerja di perusahaan, dan rekomendasi perbaikan program: memberikan asuransi kecelakaan kerja serta memberikan materi kewirausahaan.Kata Kunci: evaluasi program, pelatihan vokasi, dan model evaluasi Kirkpatrick.  Evaluation of Vocational Training Program in Learning Activity Atelier in Ujung Pandang, Makassar MunicipalityAbstractThis study aims to: determine the satisfaction of trainees, determine the understanding of the trainees, to find out the implementation of the training programs, to analyze the impact of the training programs, to understand the benefits of the training programs and to recommend the improvement programs. By applying the four evaluation model by Kirkpatrick, that are : The Satisfaction level, the level of understanding, the level of implementation, and the impact level of the training in order to determine the outcome of the three vocational training,  that are : Sewing, Delivery, and Bridal make up training. The result showed that all the participants satisfied with the training, the participants understand the material provided, the participants be able to implement the program in the workplace, the training program give benefit for both the participants and institutions, the benefits obtained are; the participants were able to create jobs and be able to work in the company, and the recommendation programs for improvements are; provides the insurance for occupational accident and also material of entrepreneurship.Keywords: evaluation program, vocational training, Kirkpatrick evaluation model

El propósito del presente artículo es realizar un análisis documental a partir de una reflexión conceptual de evaluación desde la socioformación, donde las rúbricas permiten evaluar el desempeño, e identificar el impacto que tienes los cursos presenciales con sus respectivas características en los formadores activos. Para la metodología se tuvieron en cuenta las categorías, y subcategorías que se emplearon para eficientizar la información puesta en la cartografía conceptual al estudiar un concepto o teoría a partir de documentos. Respecto a los resultados, existe una distancia entre los cursos que se imparten a los docentes y la forma de llevarlos a su práctica docente, además de ausencia y pertinencia en temas sustanciales sobre el desarrollo sostenible. Se concluye que aun cuando a los formadores de docentes activos se les ofrece un programa de capacitación, se siguen reproduciendo contenidos programáticos desde su óptica, de lo que a su juicio el estudiante deberá aprender. The purpose of this article is to carry out a documentary analysis from a conceptual reflection of the evaluation from the socioformation, where the rubrics allow to evaluate the performance and to identify the impact that the face-to-face courses with their respective characteristics have on active trainers. For the methodology, the categories and subcategories that were used to make the information put into the conceptual cartography efficient when studying a concept or theory from documents were taken into account. Regarding the results, there is a distance between the courses that are taught to teachers and the way to take them to their teaching practice, in addition to the absence and relevance of substantial topics on sustainable development. Conclusions: Even when active teacher educators offer them a training program, programmatic content continues to be reproduced from their perspective, from which, in their opinion, the student must learn.

IntroductionThe SARS-CoV-2 global pandemic has caused a crisis disrupting health systems worldwide. While efforts are being made to determine the extent of the disruption, the impact on gynecological oncology trainees/training has not been explored. We conducted an international survey of the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on clinical practice, medical education, and mental well-being of surgical gynecological oncology trainees.MethodsIn our cross-sectional study, a customized web-based survey was circulated to surgical gynecological oncology trainees from national/international organizations from May to November 2020. Validated questionnaires assessed mental well-being. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test and Fisher’s exact test were used to analyse differences in means and proportions. Multiple linear regression was used to evaluate the effect of variables on psychological/mental well-being outcomes. Outcomes included clinical practice, medical education, anxiety and depression, distress, and mental well-being.ResultsA total of 127 trainees from 34 countries responded. Of these, 52% (66/127) were from countries with national training programs (UK/USA/Netherlands/Canada/Australia) and 48% (61/127) from countries with no national training programs. Altogether, 28% (35/125) had suspected/confirmed COVID-19, 28% (35/125) experienced a fall in household income, 20% (18/90) were self-isolated from households, 45% (57/126) had to re-use personal protective equipment, and 22% (28/126) purchased their own. In total, 32.3% (41/127) of trainees (16.6% (11/66) from countries with a national training program vs 49.1% (30/61) from countries with no national training program, p=0.02) perceived they would require additional time to complete their training fellowship. The additional training time anticipated did not differ between trainees from countries with or without national training programs (p=0.11) or trainees at the beginning or end of their fellowship (p=0.12). Surgical exposure was reduced for 50% of trainees. Departmental teaching continued throughout the pandemic for 69% (87/126) of trainees, although at reduced frequency for 16.1% (14/87), and virtually for 88.5% (77/87). Trainees reporting adequate pastoral support (defined as allocation of a dedicated mentor/access to occupational health support services) had better mental well-being with lower levels of anxiety/depression (p=0.02) and distress (p<0.001). Trainees from countries with a national training program experienced higher levels of distress (p=0.01). Mean (SD) pre-pandemic mental well-being scores were significantly higher than post-pandemic scores (8.3 (1.6) vs 7 (1.8); p<0.01).ConclusionSARS-CoV-2 has negatively impacted the surgical training, household income, and psychological/mental well-being of surgical gynecological oncology trainees. The overall clinical impact was worse for trainees in countries with no national training program than for those in countries with a national training program, although national training program trainees reported greater distress. COVID-19 sickness increased anxiety/depression. The recovery phase must focus on improving mental well-being and addressing lost training opportunities.

Training athletes in three training programs differed – their training loads were significantly different – from 10.28 to 12.91 hours a week, as well as the indices of the training days – from 5.43 to 4.17 days a week, the training content differed significantly. In the most effective training program choreographic training (35.8%) dominated. Statistically significant differences (p  < 0.05) were found in the indices of explosive strength and muscular power, specific endurance, coordination movement abilities and the integral index of athletic fitness.  At the beginning of the season and at the end of it the realization of the body movement technique performing routines with different tools was different (p < 0.001). Discussion  and  conclusions.  In  the  period  of  individual  training  of  13–14-year-old  athletes  in  rhythmic gymnastics time for mastering competitive routines and integral training became more significant for the efficacy of athletes’ sport performance. The indices of movement with different tools technique became more significant and the indices of difficulty of body movement technique remained stable. The most important factors influencing sports performance were explosive strength, strength endurance, coordination, and the total integral index of athletic fitness.Keywords: rhythmic gymnastics, training, performance.

Do low gasoline prices cause more traffic fatalities in the 50 states of the USA? The importance of other factors

Purpose Motivated by the news media and a lack of comprehensive research on the USA, the purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between changes in road fatalities and gasoline prices, per capita disposable personal income, alcohol consumption per adult, blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limits and gender. Design/methodology/approach This study employs both static and dynamic panel data models, making use of annual data over the 2000–2013 period collected from the 50 states of the USA and the consistent system GMM estimators of the parameters, to estimate the impact of these variables on fatalities per 100,000 persons and per 100,000 vehicles. Findings The results highlight the importance of gasoline prices in determining the level of road fatalities, underscoring that a 10 percent decrease in gasoline prices leads to a 248 increase in the total number of road fatalities, but with many more injuries. Increases in the female-to-total driver ratio have a greater significant positive impact on road fatalities where a 10 percent increase in this ratio increases road fatalities by 1,008 deaths. Increases in registered vehicles per capita also increase the number of fatalities. Other variables such as alcohol consumption per adult and BAC limits are not as important. Policy implications are also provided. Research limitations/implications The results of this study highlight the importance of gasoline prices in determining the number of road fatalities. This factor can be an effective policy measure by which policymakers can offset increases in fatalities due to further drastic declines in future gasoline prices. But the effects of the gasoline prices in determining the number of road fatalities are not as strong as the media would lead us to believe. The media ignores the impact of other factors on fatalities, which results in an overestimation of the impact of gasoline prices. Originality/value This study uses the panel data of 50 US states and the dynamic panel data model. In addition to gasoline price effects on the road fatalities, this study also considers other factors such as gender, gasoline taxes, per capita disposable personal income, per capita alcohol consumption, BAC limits and number of registered vehicles.

English teachers in Bangladesh have undergone numerous training programs. Both government-initiated and donor-sponsored training programs have been in operation in Bangladesh. Government initiated institutions to train teachers are Primary Training Institutes (PTIs) and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs). However, researchers seemed to label training provided by PTIs and TTCs as inadequate. Bridging the gaps intrigued government of Bangladesh to devise donor-aided training programs, including English Language Teaching Improvement Project (ELTIP), English for Teaching, Teaching for English (ETTE), Secondary Education Quality and Access Enhancement Project (SEQAEP), Teaching Quality Improvement in Secondary Education Project (TQI-SEP). Studies reported their potential failure to bring changes in English teachers’ classroom practices. English in Action (EIA) was the last donor-funded project that incorporated school-based training program. The aim of the study was to examine the impact of EIA training program on secondary-school English teachers’ classroom practice in Bangladesh, drawing the questions in relation to the elements learned in the training program and the elements practiced in the training program. The present study undertook the Integrated Approaches to Teacher Development suggested by Hargreaves and Fullan (1992) and Reflective Model developed by Wallace (1991). This study adopted phenomenological approach since it subsumed the experience of an activity or concept from the participants’ perspective. Eight Participants were selected who had been trained from EIA training program and who had experience of participating in other donor-aided program, in the spirit of yielding the uniqueness of EIA which informed the sustainability of this program. It had been divulged that teachers learned a lot of activities that were related to English language teaching. However, the present studies observed limited practice of such activities in the classroom.
