Anemia is considered a condition, not a disease in which numbers of red blood cells (RBCs) are insufficient to meet the body’s metabolical and physiological needs for oxygen. Anemia may also develop due to nutritional deficiencies such as iron, vitamin B12, folic acid, and vitamin A; moderate and severe inflammation; parasitic infestation; and acquired or inherited disorders that affect hemoglobin synthesis, red blood cell development or red blood cell endurance. This proposed work depicts the distribution of different morphological types of anemia on people of Gurugram, Haryana. All the samples were analyzed for CBC and peripheral blood smear by using Sysmax (three parts) hematology analyzer and microscopy.  In the present study, 300 patients in 6 months study period were included to diagnose anemia. Only 166 cases were positive. Out of 166 cases, 85 (51.2%) were female and 81 (48.8%) were male. The highest number of participants showed RBCs count in the range of 4.5-5.5 million/mm3, 24 (14.5%) with P value 0.000. Most of the cases that we revealed were having hypochromic red cells along with morphological variation in RBCs which may be due to iron deficiency. The further confirmatory analysis may be required in order to know the detail classification of anemia. Keywords: Anemia, Hemoglobin, Iron Deficiency, Hypochromic, Red Blood Cells

Vitamins B2, B6, B12, and folate are essential for methylation reactions and possibly influence the transport of polyunsaturated fatty acids in plasma and red blood cells (RBC). Associations between B-vitamin biomarkers and fatty acid (FA) profile were analyzed in Brazilian children and adolescents. This cross-sectional study included 249 children and adolescents, aged 9–13 years old. Dietary intake was assessed by the food frequency questionnaire and the healthy eating index (HEI). Biomarkers for vitamins B2, B6, B12, and folate were measured in plasma. The FA profile and the metabolites of one-carbon metabolism were measured in RBC. Associations were tested with multiple linear regression models. An increase of 1 nmol/L in vitamin B2 was associated with an increase of 0.19 mg/dL of EPA, 0.20 mg/dL of ARA, and 0.25 mg/dL of DHA in RBC. An increase of 1 ng/mL in plasma folate was associated with an increase of 0.14 mg/dL of EPA, 0.22 mg/dL of ARA, and 0.21 mg/dL of DHA in RBC. These findings highlight the importance of an adequate intake of vitamin B2 and folate in childhood, since they may improve the FA profile in RBCs and may help prevent cardiovascular disease.

SummaryIt was the objective of this study to explore the possibility that the aggregation of red blood cells is enhanced in individuals with increased intracranial hypertension (IIH). This is a prospective cross sectional examination in a cohort of patients with IIH and matched controls.The aggregation of red blood cells in the peripheral venous blood was determined by using a slide test and image analysis.We have presently included a group of 33 women with IIH and the same number of women matched for age, body mass index, vascular risk factors and medications. A significant (p=0.038) increment in fibrinogen concentrations was noted in the patients (341 ± 60.8 mg/dl) as opposed to the controls 307.9 ± 64.8).The same stands for the aggregation of red blood cells (aggregation parameter of 8.7 ± 4.9 in patients vs.5.9 ± 3.2 in the controls, p=0.001).We noted an increment in the aggregation of red blood cells in the peripheral blood of 33 women with IIH as opposed to matched controls. Being associated with capillary slow flow,these findings might be relevant to the ethiopathogenesis of this disease.

Background:Methotrexate (MTX) is the first-line treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Due to its short half-life, blood MTX dosage is not performed in current practice. Erythrocyte MTX-polyglutamate (MTX-PG), which penetrates into the red blood cells, would be correlated with the area under the MTX curve and would be more accessible for dosing. When treatment is initiated, its concentration correlates with efficacy and therapeutic adherence.Objectives:To determine the interest of erythrocyte MTX-PG dosage in case of failure of 1st line MTX treatment.Methods:In this single-centre cross-sectional study, RA patients presenting for consultation at the Saint-Etienne University Hospital, with a stable dose of MTX for more than 3 months at least 15 mg/week subcutaneously with either clinical remission (DAS28<2.6) or active disease (DAS28>3.2) were included between July 2nd 2018 and May 28th 2020. In order to assess therapeutic compliance, the patient completed the compliance questionnaire of Rheumatology (CQR) questionnaire. The determination of erythrocytic MTX-PG was performed on a 5 mL blood sample by liquid chromatography method for the determination of the different PG forms.Results:Sixty patients were included, 34 in the active RA group and 26 in the RA group in remission. One patient withdrew his consent. Only 16% of patients were observed with a CQR score > 80%. Patients in remission were leaner with a longer duration of disease and MTX treatment. The sex ratio, RA status, creatinine clearance and MTX dose was not different in both groups. The CQR was better in the remission group than in the active RA group. However, total MTX-PG was not different in the two groups. The same results were observed for the different forms of MTX-PG 1, 2, 3 or 4. In contrast, in the remission PR group, total MTX-PG or MTX-PG2, 3, 4 and 5 correlated inversely with BMI while MTX-PG3 correlated positively with BMI in the active PR group. In the active PR group, MTX-PG5 correlated with MTX dose.Conclusion:MTX-PG dosage is not a biomarker of good response to MTX in our study. Abstract: The sufferer of hypertension around the world do not get medical treatment adequately. One of the hypertensive treatments is by the use of anti platelet hypertension aspirin. Aspirin on hypertension is to prevent any clinical manifestation from cardiovascular from happening. However, it could cause arterial wall hardening and decreases haemostasis ability. Test of red blood cell aggregation function is needed to monitor red blood cell function on hypertensive patient. Method: This study was analytical and employed cross sectional research design. The sample of the study were the sufferers of hypertensionfromaspirin usage treated in polyclinic of nephrology – hypertension and heart and cardiac polyclinic of internal diseasedivision in RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado. Patients included in inclusion criteria were 40 to 80 years old, proven to have hypertension by doctor, hypertension by aspirin usage, maleand female, and signed in informed consent. Result: There were 20 patients of hypertension by aspirin usage employed as sample in this study. Result of T test and spearman’s correlation test showed that there is no significant correlation between aspirin usage and the number of red blood cells’ aggregation (ADP 10µm p = 0,116, ADP 5µm p = 0,9). Conclusion: On hypertensive patients, there is no correlation between the period of aspirin usage and red blood cells’ aggregation. Salah satu pengobatan hipertensi dengan penggunaan antiplatelet hipertensi aspirin.Aspirin pada hipertensi berguna untuk mencegah terjadinya manifestasi klinis dari kardiovaskular, tetapi dapat menyebabkan terjadi pengerasan dinding arteri dan terjadinya penurunan kemampuan hemostasis.Tes fungsi agregasi trombosit diperlukan untuk memantau fungsi trombosit pada pasien hipertensi. Metode: Penelitian ini bersifat analitik dengan rancang penelitian cross sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah penderita hipertensi dengan penggunaan aspirin yang ada di Poliklinik Nefrologi – Hipertensi dan Poliklinik Jantung dan Pembuluh Darah bagian Ilmu Penyakit Dalam RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado. Pasien yang masuk kriteria inklusi yaitu usia 40-80 tahun, terbukti hipertensi oleh dokter, hipertensi dengan penggunaan aspirin, jenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan, dan menandatangani informed consent. Hasil: Terdapat 20 pasien hipertensi dengan penggunaan aspirin yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini. Hasil uji T juga spearman’s correlation test didapatkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penggunaan aspirin dengan nilai agregasi trombosit (ADP 10µm p = 0,116, ADP 5µm p = 0,9). Simpulan: Pada pasien Hipertensi, lama penggunaan aspirin dan nilai agregasi trombosit tidak mempunyai hubungan. Kata kunci: Hipertensi, aspirin, agregasi trombosit.
