Introduction. Healthcare certification standards do not mention subject matter expertise. This research answers the question: Is there a difference in participant perception of simulation effectiveness between simulation facilitators and SME simulation facilitators during the debrief? Methods. Senior-level nursing students (N=120) were randomized into groups to complete one pediatric critical care simulation. Simulation-based education (SBE) was delivered across five weeks. Two experienced facilitators, one with pediatric expertise and one without, used the PEARLS method to debrief each simulation. Following each debrief, participants completed a demographic survey and a SET-M. Results were analyzed using SPSS Version 24. Results. Eighty-four students completed the survey and SET-M instrument. Independent samples t-tests showed no significant difference between facilitators based on the SET-M total scores (p=.516), or mean scores (p=.492). Debriefing-specific items also showed no difference (p=.983). Conclusion. Subject matter expertise did not change the perception of simulation effectiveness for undergraduate nursing students during a critical care scenario. While SMEs are valuable for scenario creation and coaching non-SME facilitators on key elements for guided reflection, they may not be required to facilitate the debrief. Further research in this area is needed.

Abstract BackgroundNon acute health charities form part of the global health services industry yet face concerns regarding performance and accountability. Organisational performance measurement (OPM) is enables performance however is under utilised in the non acute health charity sector. The Non-acute Health Charity Performance Implementation Framework (NCPI Framework) was developed to support OPM implementation in non acute health charities. The study goal was to assess whether NCPI Framework implementation could positively impact on the introduction of OPM to case study organisation. The hypothesis was that NCPI Framework implementation would positively impact on the introduction of OPM in a non acute health charity.MethodsA convergent parallel design mixed methods case study evaluation was conducted of the twelve-month implementation of the NCPI Framework in a non acute health charity. Pre and post survey quantitative and qualitative techniques were used to assess the infrastructure and systems used to support the NCPI Framework’s program design and implementation in addition to participant perception of OPM usefulness. This study analysed quantitative data collected using identical pre and post Likert scales surveys. Response rates were 74% at pre and 64% at post data collection times. The valid percentage was used to exclude incomplete responses. Then, data were analysed using descriptive statistics such as modes, means and standard deviation. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to examine changes between pre and post data. ResultsResults support the hypothesis that the implementation of the NCPI Framework positively impacted on the introduction of organisational performance measurement in the case study organisation. The results were statistically significant and demonstrated positive change in implementation infrastructure and participant perception of OPM usefulness. Board members (59%) reported a lower level of change in positive perception of usefulness than staff (93%) and salaried clinical advisors (93%).ConclusionThis is the first methodological evaluation of OPM implementation in the non acute health charity sector. Results suggest the NCPI Framework has potential to support the establishment of infrastructure, systems and participant engagement to enable OPM introduction in non acute health charities.

Urban parks in a developing country hardly accommodatepeople with disability. The objective of this study is to investigate thepossibility of improving urban parks using the perception of visuallyimpaired people of urban parks’ sonic environment. This study wasconducted off-site the urban park using a questionnaire survey with twogroups of participants: sighted people (35 participants) and visuallyimpaired people (35 participants). The analysis was conducted usingsemantic analysis of the word used for explaining the sonic environment. This study shows that the visually impaired participants explained thesonic environment with more terminologies (56 terminologies for visuallyimpaired participants and 32 terminologies for sighted participants). Itindicates the engagement with the sonic environment is higher for thevisually impaired participants compared to the sighted participants. Ingeneral, the visually impaired participant perception of urban parksrepresents a similar terminology, but with more perception compared to thesighted participants, i.e., safety, directivity, and space. The later stage is touse the on-site method to validate and enrich this finding to arrive at thedesign proposition for the improvement of urban parks.

This paper investigates participants’ perception of the quality of clay tennis courts (i.e. satisfaction) and its effect on costly court maintenance requirements. Using unique participant data collected at a tennis facility located in Brandon, Florida from November 1, 2017 to November 30, 2017, the use of structural equation modeling techniques show that participants’ perceptions are influenced by on-court amenities. Conditional regression analysis is used to confirm the findings and reflects that participant perception of the quality of clay courts is influenced by availability of shade (for breaks) and clarity of lines. After adjusting for participant skill level, the analysis finds that more skilled players are less likely to be influenced on the quality of clay courts by on-court amenities. The analyses confirm that by focusing on customer satisfaction, maintenance cost reduction can be realized.

IntroductionThe patient portal may be an effective method for administering surveys regarding participant research experiences but has not been systematically studied.MethodsWe evaluated 4 methods of delivering a research participant perception survey: mailing, phone, email, and patient portal. Participants of research studies were identified (n=4013) and 800 were randomly selected to receive a survey, 200 for each method. Outcomes included response rate, survey completeness, and cost.ResultsAmong those aged <65 years, response rates did not differ between mail, phone, and patient portal (22%, 29%, 30%,p>0.07). Among these methods, the patient portal was the lowest-cost option. Response rates were significantly lower using email (10%,p<0.01), the lowest-cost option. In contrast, among those aged 65+ years, mail was superior to the electronic methods (p<0.02).ConclusionsThe patient portal was among the most effective ways to reach research participants, and was less expensive than surveys administered by mail or telephone.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects have always been complex subjects for school children as many experienced difficulty and complexity in grasping the basic conceptual knowledge. Therefore, Centre for Diploma Studies (CeDS) of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is moving forward to achieve sustainable development for society by pursuing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through National Blue Ocean Strategy 4 (NBOS 4) initiatives. As a member of the society, CeDS try to ensure that the society will acquire the benefit of CeDS business activities as a whole.. ScienceXplorer programme had been implemented to attract primary school students in learning science. ScienceXplorer is a programme that basically implementing the concept of learning by doing. This study was performed to assess participant perception towards the implementation of ScienceXplorer. A self-completion questionnaire had been designed with a series of Likert scale questions that organized to gather participants’ perceptions of participating ScienceXplorer. The questionnaire had been designed using Kirk Patrick Evaluation Model. There were 148 participants from three primary schools took part in this study. In this scope of study, ScienceXplorer participants rated very high in terms of reflection, knowledge and skill, changes in behaviour and aspiration.
