Money Orders and National Integration, 1864–95

Chapter 6 traces the expansion of the postal money order system between the 1860s and 1890s, a service that allowed people to send small sums of money safely and cheaply through the mail. This chapter offers another counterpoint to assumptions about the inevitable tides of bureaucratization and national integration in the 19th-century West. First, unlike much of the US Post, the money order system was a centralized bureaucracy, managed by a career technocrat named Charles Macdonald. But Macdonald’s efficient management was predicated on limiting its spatial coverage to a relatively small number of western post offices. Second, money orders allowed westerners to conduct long-distance transactions that helped integrate them into a national consumer market. Mapping where the residents of one western town actually sent money orders during the 1890s reveals the unexpected pattern that despite an age of nationalizing forces, their remittances stayed largely within a regional orbit.

BENCHMARK FOR DETERMINATION OF FORCED MONEY IN EXECUTION OF STATE ADMINISTRATIVE COURT JUDGMENT

The purpose of this research is to study about Benchmark Determination of the Administrative Court Decision Execution Forced In. Research methods used in this thesis is a research type normative and descriptive analytical research specifications, and approaches used, namely, the approach Law and approach cases. From the research we concluded that since when the claimant may apply for money of enforced at the time of the initial filing a lawsuit to the Administrative Court, for their money forced / Dwangsom in a decision of the State Administrative Court, it is motivated by a petition of Plaintiff in the lawsuit to beg loading money forced / Dwangsom Defendant if lost and wayward implement administrative court ruling, benchmark application is the amount of money forced the ruling stating Plaintiff granted, judgment and decision condemnatoir who has obtained permanent legal force. Because implementing administrative court ruling is always Agency / Administrative Officers are still active, more effective and efficient if the imposition of forced currency / dwangsom taken / deducted from salaries / allowances officials concerned each month. So it is not charged to the State finances forced money order imposing sanctions / dwangsom and administratively feasible, must be followed by concrete implementing regulations relating to money forced / dwangsom to sync with the Administrative Court Act and the Law on Government Administration.

Zeitvermittlung als Kulturtransfer am Beispiel der deutschen Übersetzung von Ousmane Sembènes Novelle Le mandat (Die Postanweisung)

The article investigates cultural transfers related to the expression of time and indications of time in the German translation of Ousmane Sembène´s novel Le mandat / Die Postanweisung (The money order). The paper points out the significance of time, not only as an important parameter of the narration in the selected novel, but also in the way it is used by the different actors, and especially by the main actor Ibrahima Dieng, in social interactions and human relations. Furthermore, I investigate in this article how expressions related to time indications that are deeply rooted in the author’s domestic culture, are translated and/or transported in the German version of Sembène’s novel.

Design of Automatic Detection System for Railway Facility Maintenance

The use of android now not only acts as a means of communication for the community, but also very active role in the dissemination of information quickly and easily. With the current situation which is very practical, in this study, the design of a motorcycle safety history database was designed using android-based QRcode method. Because previously the executor still used the check list sheet, with the design of the Android-based barcode method, the executor did not need to see the data in the archive or add data through the check list sheet. The design of the andoid-based money order motor maintenance database was made in three stages, namely the creation of a database using Firebase. Making android as an interface using Android Studio and making code scanning with QRcode. Data displayed in real time, i.e. data can update data by other devices automatically so that data can be recorded and stored. Data can be opened on more than two devices that have an application installed, provided that the device must scan the QRcode. From the results of testing of the database design that has been made, it can be concluded that the android-based database system can speed up the process of data retrieval compared to taking attendance manually which is the archive of maintenance results. This system can only be used if the device used is on an internet network connection.

Towards a Theory for African Cinema (Férid Boughedir, 1974)

Towards a Theory for African Cinema is an English translation of a talk given in French by the Tunisian filmmaker and critic Férid Boughedir (1944–) at a conference on international cinema, which took place in Montreal in 1974. In his presentation Boughedir discusses the vocation of the African filmmaker, who must avoid succumbing to the escapism and entertainment values of Western cinema and instead strive to reflect the contradictions and tensions of the colonised African identity, while promoting a revitalisation of African culture. Drawing on the example of the 1968 film Mandabi (The Money Order) by the Senegalese director Sembène Ousmane, Boughedir conceptualises a form of cinema which resists the influences of both Hollywood and auteur film and awakens viewers, instead of putting them to sleep. Boughedir‘s source text is preceded by a translator‘s introduction, which situates his talk within contemporary film studies.

Perancangan Data Warehouse dan Penerapan Teknik Clustering Spatial pada Wesel: Studi Kasus PT XXX

By setting up the right service and product for the customer, the company may increase its marketing effectiveness as well as sales. For that purpose, information on company’s product and sales is highly needed in order to help on decision making process, which expectedly enables company to create value and eventually gain competitive advantage. This research attempts to develop a Data warehouse for PT XXX, which is expected to exhibit useful information for the company without disturbing its operational system. The Data warehouse is developed with Oracle 11g. Apart from that, this research also aims to gather information and knowledge with spatial database. The data mining is conducted by using WEKA application, which compares the algorithm of DBSCAN, K-Means, and EM clustering. Data mining from the spatial data is expected to create area map which indicates sales rate of PT Pos Indonesia’s products. Through this it is hoped that the company may focus more in marketing certain product with particular advantage in one particular area to produce effectiveness. The research outcome indicates that the Data warehouse being developed has already managed to exhibit the receipt report of postal money order (wesel pos), retail stock, as well as retail sales.
