ANALISIS TINGKAT KEMATANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI MANAJEMEN AKADEMIK DAN KEMAHASISWAAN IAIN PALANGKA RAYA MENGGUNAKAN COBIT 5

The use of Information Technology (IT) at a university is needed at this time. There are many advantages in using IT and have a good impact on a university. The use of IT in a university has different roles according to their needs. The utilization of IT in Higher Education theoretically provides appropriate and efficient administration systems (Fernandes Andry and Christianto, 2018). IAIN Palangka Raya is one of the universities that has implemented IT, in this case, the academic and student management information system. The information system at IAIN Palangka Raya is one of the IT applications that is often used to carry out IT governance, however, there are several problems that occur in the information system, including features or tools that are not yet functional. For this reason, the researcher will analyze the information system to get the level of maturity and recommendations so that IAIN Palangka Raya can follow up on the results of this analysis and improve it to get the goal of good information system governance. In this study, the COBIT 5 framework is used with a focus on the EDM domain (Evaluate, Direct, and Monitor). The results of the analysis showed that the capability level was 2.86 (established), which means that the process was carried out, achieved goals, and well managed. With a balance value of 0.96, which means that the expected distance with the current distance is not too far so that features or tools that are not yet functioning are functional. So that the academic and student management information system of IAIN Palangka Raya runs according to its goals and is better.

Free access to conference’ proceedings between the issues of arbitration and the mandatory availability : A proposal of a project for an Algerian platform to manage scientific events

Conferences are among the most important access points to scientific communication. The development of IT applications in addition to open access caused the appearance of new diffusion vessels that suggest the right to access to their content with the least restrictions possible. Conferences' sponsors were obliged to make their publications available on these new vessels. In the other hand, there are many problems that face these works, the most important is the quality of arbitration of these works and the difficulty faced to track them . This paper aims to confirm the obligation of making the conferences' works available in addition to studying the most important problems that are faced and also to put and visualize a recommendation of an Algerian data base to manage these scientific events in order to overcome these problems. The study relied on the descriptive methodology and came up with the conclusions below: Conferences works are considered to be one of the main outcomes of scientific communication which must be available. The study also recomends Encouraging the development of digital platforms to manage the scientific events because of its contribution to raise the quality of researches' arbitration and providing its Works to a wide range of users.

Properly selecting the configuration of a database management system (DBMS) is essential to increase performance and reduce costs. However, the task is astonishingly tricky due to a large number of tunable configuration parameters and their inter-dependencies. Also, the optimal configuration depends upon the workload to which the DBMS is exposed. To extract the full potential of a DBMS, we must also consider the entire IT stack on which the DBMS is running, comprising layers like the Java virtual machine, the operating system and the physical machine. Each layer offers a multitude of parameters that we should take into account. The available parameters vary as new software versions are released, making it impractical to rely on historical knowledge bases. We present a novel tuning approach for the DBMS configuration auto-tuning that quickly finds a well-performing configuration of an IT stack and adapts it to workload variations, without having to rely on a knowledge base. We evaluate the proposed approach using the Cassandra and MongoDB DBMSs, showing that it adjusts the suggested configuration to the observed workload and is portable across different IT applications. We try to minimise the memory consumption without increasing the response time, showing that the proposed approach reduces the response time and increases the memory requirements only under heavy-load conditions, reducing it again when the load decreases.

IT Adoption and Sustainable Growth of Firms in Different Industries—Are the Benefits Still Expected?

This study uses data from the Korea business activity survey panel from 2008 to 2016 to examine the effects on the sustainable growth of firms that initially adopted Information Technology (IT) applications during 2010 to 2012 compared to those that did not. The effects are examined for four years after adoption and divided into areas such as sales, labor productivity, profitability, increases in male and female employment, wages, and exports. Because the effects of IT adoption are known to vary greatly depending on the industry, the manufacturing industry is divided into traditional, medium-tech, and hi-tech manufacturing, and the service industry is divided into the materials service and information service sectors; the effects on each sector are then observed. In addition, the propensity score matching methodology is used to overcome selection bias arising from a simple comparison between firms that began using IT and firms that did not. The results show that, although there was little impact on productivity, there were impacts on sales and employment and large differences were found between the industrial sectors.

Tweeting Neurology: Boon or Bane (Preprint)

BACKGROUND Twitter is a free, open-access social media provides an opportunity for advocacy, education, and collaboration. However, it is likely not utilized to full advantage by many disciplines in medicine and pitfalls exist in its use. In particular, there has not been a review of Twitter use and it applications in the field of neurology. OBJECTIVE This review seeks to provide an understanding of the current use of Twitter in the field of neurology to assist neurologists in engaging with this potentially powerful application to support their work. METHODS References for this Review were identified by searches of PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase, Medline and the Twitter site between March 2006 and July 2020 and references from relevant articles. The search terms “Twitter”, “neurology”, “journal clubs”, “tweetorials”, “Tweet chats”, “misuse”, “unprofessional”, “social media”, “health care”, were used. RESULTS Neurologists have taken to Twitter to educate, promote research, share information rapidly, and reach a broader potential global audience. Twitter has added a new dimension to learning and education in neurology in a practical and interactive manner. However, the “pros” of the Twitterverse must be balanced with the potential risks, which are common to all social media platforms (a graphical rendering is provided in Figure S1). CONCLUSIONS Twitter has opened up new scopes for neurologists through multi-channel interactions particularly in promoting, furthering and communicating research, patient care, learning and sharing information and recent advancements. However, guidelines should be formulated to prevent its unregulated and inappropriate use.
