Manufacture of reinforced nano metal melt aluminum sponges for oil collection in spill from water sources

At present, it is necessary to use various materials to manufacture parts used in different fields such as industry, food, automotive, aviation, etc. Depending on the purpose of the part is the manufacturing process and the materials used, the most widely used material is aluminum, for its mechanical properties and low strength/weight ratio, aluminum is one of the most demanded materials, you can find various manufacturing processes, by casting, molding, injection and machining, This last process is developed by separating materials in the form of fragments, so that the required parts can be created, the chips are completely discarded, causing environmental contamination. This research aims to recover aluminum chips produced in the metal processing workshop and machine tool laboratory of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander, Seccional Ocaña, Colombia, to create a metal sponge of aluminum that will also allow nano-reinforcement with carbon nanotubes under special conditions for the collection of petroleum or petroleum derivatives when environmental impacts occur on water sources, in this way, the use of aluminum chip will help protect the environment and the metal sponge will reduce the risk that oil and its derivatives will generate environmental impact reflected by the spill in water sources.

Effect of Solvent Conditions in Process of Extraction of Pectin from Banana Peels for the Adsorption of Fe Metal in Groundwater at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta

Iron (Fe) is one of the compounds contained in heavy metals which is very dangerous for the survival of living things when in the environment around the residence that has exceeded the threshold. Fe ions can cause turbidity, corrosion, and other impacts. Iron (Fe) is a transition metal and has the atomic number 26. The oxidation numbers of Fe are +3 and +2. Fe is an essential metal for the body which in high doses is toxic. Given the various dangers caused by exposure to Fe metal, it is necessary to treat Fe metal contained in groundwater. One of the most widely used heavy metal processing methods is the adsorption process. In previous studies, many adsorption processes used activated carbon from various materials as adsorbents. In this study, pectin was extracted from banana peels with hydrochloric acid as a solvent at various temperatures and concentrations. The optimum conditions were at 80oC and a concentration of 0.35 N. The pectin obtained was 2.3171 grams.

Finite-element simulation of semi-solid metal processing of tool steel encased in carbon steel

The semi-solid metal processing allows for the production of components with complex geometries allied to lower forming forces. In the case of X210Cr12 tool steel, one big advantage of semi-solid metal processing is that it produces a microstructure free of precipitated chromium carbides, resulting in higher resistance to cyclic stresses. However, the application of this process in steels is limited until now due to technical difficulties, such as high temperatures, the necessity of a precise control of temperature, and the narrow liquidus–solidus range. For that reason, a preliminary numerical assessment of the forming procedure is highly welcome, in order to reduce potential errors in the final component. In this paper, we propose a methodology for the numerical simulation of semi-solid metal processing in steel samples under hot compression. We show that it is possible to use multilinear hardening plasticity models whose only input are the flow stress curves of each material. We also show that it is mandatory that these experimental curves are obtained through tensile tests performed at the same temperature as the working/simulated component. To validate the methodology, a full-scale experiment is undertaken so that the deformed sample can be compared to the numerical results. It is concluded that the methodology is suited for the assessment of mechanical quantities during the finite-element analysis of semi-solid processing of steel.

Sheet Turning System Design and Prototype Manufacturing Suitable for Line Systems

In the sectors where sheet metal processing machines are used, especially in line systems where punch, shears and panel bender machines are used together, sometimes it is necessary to rotate the sheet materials coming out of the punch machine before bending when they are automatically fed into the panel bender machine. In fully automatic bending lines, an automatic sheet turning system was needed in order to perform the rotation process independently of the operator. With the turning system, which is the subject of the project, it is activated in cases where materials such as stainless steel with a film coated on one side need to be rotated after cutting, and the sheet material is safely transmitted to the bending area. The system, whose prototype production has been completed, is also used together with punch, laser and shear combinations of panel bending machines, which are used in sectors such as elevator manufacturing, steel door manufacturing, panel manufacturing, kiosk and control panel manufacturing, cabinet and case manufacturing, industrial cooling systems, industrial kitchen manufacturing.
