The work was initiated to study hygienic and toxicological indices of a synthetic analogue for the Sitophilus weevil aggregation pheromone. The toxicity testing of 5-hydroxy-4-methyl-3-heptanone demonstrated its extremely low toxicity for the warm-blood animals, as compared to the one of the typical pesticides. The average lethal dose of the product per orally administered to the white mice was established to be 4375.0 mg kg-1 LD16 and LD84 being 2225.0 mg kg-1 and 6550.0 mg kg-1, respectively. The average lethal dose for rabbits was 5900.0 mg kg-1 5-hydroxy-4-methyl-3-heptanone proved to have a mild skin and conjunctival irritant action, and equally mild functional cumulation. As to chronic toxicity, the acceptable daily dose of 4.3 mg/person/d was calculated and scientifically substantiated. The odor threshold was determined at the dose ranging from 0.35 to 0.7 mg l-1 with the practical limit ranging from 0.35 to 1.5 mg l-1, taste sensation threshold was found at the dose ranging from 1.0 to 3.0 mg l-1 with the practical limit ranging from 3.0 to 7.0 mg l-1

The obtained experimental results of the study of allergenic properties of complex insectacaricide drug for veterinary use «Inspector Quadro Tabs» (made by “CJSC SPC Ekoprom”) are shown in this article. The drug contains a new combination of active ingredients – lufenuron, moxidectin and praziquantel. Such a combina-tion has a broad spectrum of antiparasitic action against endo- and ectoparasites. The studies were carried out according to “Methodical Guidelines on evaluation of allergenic properties of pharmaceutical substances” (Guideline on experimental (non-clinical) studies of new pharmaceutical substances). The test was carried out on 20 albino Guinea pigs, the animals were divided into experimental and control groups. Allergization of animals in the experimental group was carried out by oral administration of the drug in minimal dose in the form of suspension in 1-% starch gel within 20 days. The animals were tested in 10 days after the allergization: epiku-tan test, conjunctival test and nasal test. Criteria for evaluation of irritant action of the drug suspension were the following characteristic signs of irritation: reddening of a plaintive channel, erythema, increase in a skin fold, fissures, ulceration, skin temperature, etc. It is established that during the experiment no irritating reactions were noted, the drug doesn't cause an allergization in animals body.

Background: Due to the sensitizing constituents of eye cosmetics, allergic contact dermatitis is considered a frequent cause of eyelid dermatitis. An association between eyelid dermatitis and nickel contained in make-ups remains controversial. Objective: The study aimed to assess the association between nickel allergy, the use of pigmented makeup products and self-reported eyelid dermatitis. Method: This multi-centric, cross-sectional study enrolled 165 women sensitized to nickel (patients) and 103 women without intolerance to metals (controls). We recorded: demographics, atopy, use of pigmented eye cosmetics (mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil), and previous eyelid dermatitis. Among the patients, any co-sensitization to cosmetics or metals was recorded. Results: 87.3% of the patients and 91.3% of the controls reported their use of eye make-up; 44.9% and 52.4%, respectively, reported previous episodes of eyelid dermatitis, without significant differences. The occurrence of eyelid dermatitis was significantly associated with the use of eye make-up products, both in general and considering each product separately. Age, atopy, or co-sensitization to other metals or cosmetics did not affect the occurrence of eyelid dermatitis. Conclusion: Nickel allergy should not be considered the main risk factor for eyelid dermatitis. The use of pigmented eye make-up may be a triggering factor for eyelid dermatitis, probably due to an irritant action.
