Reaction times for big and small letters (global and local levels) were compared and examined to see whether differences would occur between a low scoring and high scoring Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder (OCD) group. OCD patients have been shown to notice and pay more attention to small details (local bias) compared to most other populations (Shapiro, 1965; Yovel et al. 2006; Caberea et al., 2001). Although there is research supporting a local bias in OCD patients, it is unclear whether the bias occurs in the early stages of visual processing or in a later memory stage (Moritz & Wendt, 2006; Hermans et al, 2008). The study specifically examined a potential local bias for high OCD scorers in the early visual stage by manipulating perceptual and attentional mechanisms in two hierarchical letter tasks (Navon, 1977; Miller, 1981a, Plaisted et al. 1999). In Experiment 1, participants were told which level (the big or small letter) to respond to, results showed that high OCD scorers responded faster to local letters, showing support for a local processing advantage. Conversely, the low OCD group responded quicker to the global level. The finding of a local advantage in Experiment 1 suggests that the local advantage may be due to perceptual mechanisms as attention was already directed to the relevant level. However, in Experiment 2 where attention was not directed and the image quality was manipulated, local and global advantage effects were not replicated for the high and low OCD groups respectively. This showed that attentional and perceptual mechanisms did not make one level easier to process over the other. Therefore, it is possible that any local bias for OCD patients occurs in a later processing stage.

The School of Jewelry at West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences was founded to meet the market demands during the economic transition and address the challenges confronting the local industrial development, which also makes full use of the local advantage of sufficient jade resources. However, it is indeed a challenge to develop distinct regional features for its major of jade design and to meet industrial and market demands on talents by developing a unique curriculum. As a teacher at the jade sculpture design major, School of Jewelry at West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences, the author is trying to offer some personal insights into this problem from the author’s teaching practices and observations about the jade industry in Yunnan. The jade sculpture design major should focus on an in-depth integration of craftsmanship and design, inheritance and innovation, academic and fashion, education and industry, school and society, so as to lead the whole jade industry in Yunnan in its transformation and upgrading.

Karangpranti Village is a village located in Pajarakan District, Probolinggo Regency. The local advantage of the Karangpranti village is that there are several superior MSMEs that seek to empower the surrounding residents to build and help improve the economy of the surrounding residents. One of the MSMEs that is quite helpful in providing employment in the Karangpranti village is Abon Hj. Sun. However, the development of MSME Abon Hj. Sun is constrained by the lack of capital and public knowledge about the empowerment of its citizens. So that solutions can be done to overcome existing obstacles, for example, Students hold a Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Socialization, Expanding production land, Assistance for capital submission. The method used is the preparation stage includes a survey or observation, evaluation of problems and preparation, then the implementation phase which includes approaches to the community and MSME socialization, then the evaluation stage is carried out to see the success rate of activities starting from the beginning, the process, to the achievement of the results of activities . If the productivity of MSME Abon Hj. Sun is increasingly being developed so that efforts to empower residents around Karangpranti village will be increasingly realized, so that the welfare of the people can be increasingly created. So that the increase in welfare can prevent stunting in the Karangpranti village community. Keywords : Productivity, Community Health, Prevention of Stunting

ABSTRACT We examine how changing the allocation of hiring decision rights in a multiunit organization affects employee-firm match quality, contingent on a unit's circumstances. Our research site, a U.S. retail chain, switched from a decentralized hiring model (hiring by business unit managers—in our case, store managers) to centralized hiring (in this study, by the head office). While centralized hiring can ensure that enough resources are invested in hiring people aligned with company values, it can also neglect the unit managers' local knowledge. Using difference-in-differences analyses, we find that the switch is associated with relatively higher employee departure rates and, thus, poorer matches if the business unit manager has a local advantage; that is, if the store serves repeat customers, serves a demographically atypical market, or poses higher information-gathering costs for headquarters. In these cases, the unit manager may be more informed than headquarters about which candidates best match local conditions. Data Availability: The analyses presented in this study are based on data shared by a U.S. retail company. The data are confidential, according to a nondisclosure agreement between the company and the authors.

The introduction, in addition to introducing the themes of the book (see book abstract), expands on them by reintroducing the idea of bureaucratic obstruction to accomplishing strategic landpower objectives. Rather than intentional derailing objectives, individual actors in the Washington, D.C., "Beltway" are incentivized to seek local advantage instead of support the national effort. The introduction also brings into focus the military's lack of intellectual capacity, which detracts from understanding the complexity of the post-9/11 strategic environment. The emphasis on tactical over strategic officer development rendered flaccid the American response to 9/11. These ideas touched on in the introduction cover some of the themes not fully developed in the main of the text and prompt future coverage of these other vital topics.

A hybrid method—coupled with the boundary element method (BEM) for wave-making resistance, the empirical method (EM) for viscous resistance, and the boundary layer theory (BLT) for capture of an area’s physical parameters—was proposed to predict waterjet propulsion performance. The waterjet propulsion iteration process was established from the force-balanced waterjet–hull system by applying the hybrid approach. Numerical validation of the present method was carried out using the 1/8.556 scale waterjet-propelled ITTC (International Towing Tank Conference) Athena ship model. Resistance, attitudes, wave cut profiles, waterjet thrust, and thrust deduction showed similar tendencies to the experimental curves and were in good agreement with the data. The application of the present hybrid method to the side-hull configuration research of a trimaran indicates that the side-hull arranged at the rear of the main hull contributed to energy-saving and high-efficiency propulsion. In addition, at high Froude numbers, the “fore-body trimaran” showed a local advantage in resistance and thrust deduction.
