Abstract Under the terms of the Korean War armistice, prisoners of war (pow s) could reject repatriation. The vast majority of non-repatriates went to either of the Koreas, China, or Taiwan. But a small group consisting of 76 Korean and twelve Chinese pow s exercised their option to go to neutral nations instead. This article examines how South Korean discourse about these outlier pow s shifted over the decades. An early assumption was that they had made a principled, ideological decision to reject both blocs of a global Cold War. But their choice of neutral countries was a more personal than ideological one. Their anti-communism appeared muted, since they also eschewed the other side. This interpretation contained little direct knowledge of the pow s themselves; it owed more to how the South Korean public saw the war that devastated their peninsula. There also was the influence of “The Square” in the Korean intellectual society and the mass media in their understanding of these Korean prisoners. After the collapse of the Soviet bloc, South Koreans became more confident about the rivalry with North Korea. This led to a reengagement with the memory of the pow s who had spurned both Koreas, making rejection of Communist North Korea more convincing and their refusal to remain in South Korea was less problematic.

Due to its location in Gilimanuk Bay and its findings, Gilimanuk site stated for having fishers as subsistence strategy. This research uses pathological condition called enthesopathies as the primary data to induce fishing techniques as part of their daily activities. Identification enthesopathies follows procedure proposed by Hawkey & Merbs and Mariotti. Result shows only two specific techniques which can be identified through pathological condition. Those techniques are fishing with stick and spearing methods. Based on pathological conditions, early fisher’s community from Gilimanuk only developed shallow water fishing techniques. Absence of other fishing techniques indicates by artefacts and induced from enthesopathies might lead to early assumption about natural resources are widely available and easy to procure in surrounds environment.

Purpose of Study: This research is intended to answer the question of whether there is a correlation between students speaking competence and writing competence and the impact on students’ performance in writing and speaking. This research was preceded with the early assumption that students with high competence in speaking will surely have high competence in writing since both are productive skills which demand students to produce language orally or written. But in reality, the researcher found several pieces of evidence that someone with high competence in writing usually does not have good speaking performance. Similarly, most students who are active in speaking cannot write very well. Methodology: This research is done to English Department students at Muhammadiyah University. The data of the research is students’ final scores in Speaking IV and Writing III. Both of the subjects are chosen because they are reflected to have an equal measurement on students’ competence in productive skills. In speaking IV (Public Speaking), students are assessed their ability to speak in front of the public with different contexts. While Writing III (Essay Writing) students are trained to write several topics of the essay. Results:  The result of the correlation test between speaking and writing used the statistic test Pearson Correlation, with  a sample of 36 students. The researcher does not take all of the students who have writing and speaking lesson. The researcher only examines 36 students as the sample. Implications/Applications: From the 36 students there are 7 students who have a significantly better score of speaking than writing. Meanwhile, there are 6 students who got a significantly better score on writing than speaking. The rest, 23 students have the same average score between speaking and writing. From this raw measurement supported by the statistic correlation result that shows there is a very low correlation between speaking and writing. It can be concluded that students who have competence in speaking don’t always have the same level of competence in writing, although both skills are the same productive skills that require students to produce language performance. Oral performance and written performance require slightly different competence.

Today, in order to be competitive in a fierce global car market, higher demands are placed on the perceived quality (PQ) of the products. The end customer's visual impression of fit and finish are one of several factors influencing the overall PQ. When assessing the PQ of split-lines, the assumed geometric variation of the ingoing parts is an important prerequisite for trustworthy visualization and for correct judgments. To facilitate early decision making in conceptual phases, new demands are set on virtual tools and methods to support the engineers. In this study, a method for early evaluation of the impact of geometrical variation on PQ of split-lines is proposed. Starting from an exterior styling model, mesh morphing techniques have been used to distort the exterior model according to measurement data acquired in running production. Morphing techniques have also been used to adopt previous structural design solutions onto the new styling, in order to make an early assumption of the assembly stiffness. The used method is described and adopted in an industrial case. The study shows that the presented technique can be used to create continuous and correlated datasets. Non-rigid part behavior can be included in early PQ evaluations, even if the final detailed engineering design models do not yet exist.

The discreteness of vibration frequencies of diffusion coefficients of rare - earth elements ions in the forming gel of silicon acid is considered. The existence of at least three vibration frequencies being more probable for the gel system in question is established. The agreement of these results with the experiments studying the behaviour of pacemakers in zirconium oxyhydrate gels is shown. This agreement and the frequency discreteness mentioned prove the early assumption [1] that structuring of different gels proceeds through the process of formation and interaction of stable sites in a polymer structure of a discrete size (attractor). The system of attractors is of a fractal nature. The regularities established reflect the general nature of the gelation with any types of a gelforming polymer and ions diffusing in the micellar solution.
