In Reply.— We appreciate the thoughtful comments of Stellin et al about the possibility of recurrent hypersplenism after partial splenectomy in Gaucher's disease. Fortunately, it did not happen (yet?) in our patients, although in one of them the remaining spleen enlarged considerably. (Our paper was sent for publication in July 1984, and since then there was a significant growth of the remaining spleen.) We even raised the question whether this growth is actually not a sign of regeneration of the spleen induced by partial splenectomy.
