Growth of technology give big impact to development and changes in mass media. Today, even though broadcast media like radio and television still have place in the heart of audience, however should be recognized that the existence of social media, it must be recognized that the existence of social media has a significant impact on media development. Mainstream media, especially television broadcast media, are starting to look for ways not to be abandoned by their audience. They began put in social media content into television programs. That happened on all shows in television programs. No exception in the news program on TVOne. Therefore, it is interesting to study how the transfer of social media content to television news programs is a way for TVOne to survive in the midst of the onslaught of social media. This research focuses on news programs on TVOne that take social media content into the show. We will use descriptive qualitative research using the case study method and use the political economy theory of the media.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the Russian media, which, regardless of their format, have been broadcasting news about the infection since the beginning of the outbreak on a regular basis. The main purpose of the research is to establish a connection between the epidemiological situation in Russia during the first wave and the nature of the change in the information agenda on the air of the entertainment “Radio Dacha”. To reach this goal the author, using the method of inclusive observation, analyzes 1 219 episodes of the news program, aired from January 2020, when radio hosts first mentioned the COVID-19, to July 2020, when the main restrictions were lifted in Russia. The article shows that depending on the epidemiological state, the number of notes about the coronavirus increased. The maximum quantity of news about the disease was noted in April and May when the country had the highest amount of cases and announced a lockdown. Meanwhile, the content analysis indicated that there was direct and indirect news coverage of the coronavirus. Their ratio is 97 to 3 % in favor of direct news. It means that despite the format of the radio station, the radio hosts only talked about political and social news with little or no entertain ment content. Thus, the epidemic dynamic changed the information agenda, and the worst it was, the more news about the coronavirus went on the air. The news about the infection became the longest discussed subject on the air of “Radio Dacha”.

The results of a project on news segmentation at Radio Nacional de España (RNE) carried out by the RTVE Technological Innovation and Media Management areas is presented. The aim of this project is to apply artificial intelligence to automatically transcribe and cut the news items that make up a radio news program. The main goals of this project are to increase the accessibility of the content and to allow its reusability on various platforms and social media. The project was planned in two phases, covering system configuration and service delivery. The minimum quality criteria required were defined in advance, both for automatic voice transcription and for news segmentation. For the speech-to-text process, the highest word error rate (WER) allowed was 10%, while the precision rate for the news segmentation was 85%. System performance in both transcription and segmentation was considered to be sufficient, although a higher degree of accuracy in news cutting is expected in the coming months. The results show that, despite using these quite mature technologies, adjustment and learning processes and human intervention are still necessary.

TV stream is a major source of multimedia data. The proposed method aims to enable a good exploitation of this source of video by multimedia services social community, and video-sharing platforms In this work, we propose an approach to the automatic topics segmentation of news video. The originality of the approach is the use of Clustering of Histogram of Orientation Gradients (HOG) faces as prior knowledge. This knowledge is modeled as images which governs the structuring of TV stream content. This structuring is carried out on two levels. The first consists in the identification of anchorperson by Single-Linkage Clustering of HOG faces. The second level aims to identify the topics of news program due to the large audience because of the pertinent information they contain. Experiments comparing the proposed technique to similar works were carried out on the TREC Video Retrieval Evaluation (TRECVID) 2003 database. The results show significant improvements to TV news structuring exceeding 96 %.

Stress is a well-known trigger for primary headache yet its impact is difficult to demonstrate in large epidemiological studies. Israeli national TV news is often referred to as the “tribal fire”, as many Israelis watch national news coverage following terror attacks or military operations. We examined the association between exposure to television news and their content with headache related Emergency Department visits. This retrospective cohort study included data on daily Emergency Department visits with a chief complaint of headache in Soroka University Medical Center, during 2002–2012. Data on daily television news viewership ratings were obtained from the Israeli Audience Research Board and its content from Channel 2 headlines, the highest rated TV news program. To estimate the short-term effects of news rating during the evening news on the number of daily headache visits, we applied generalized linear mixed models. 16,693 Emergency Department visits were included in the analysis. An increase in five units of daily rating percentages was associated with increase in Emergency Department visits the following day, relative risk (RR) = 1.032, (95% CI 1.014–1.050). This association increased with the age of the patients; RR = 1.119, (95% CI 1.075–1.65) for older than 60-year-old, RR = 1.044 (95% CI 1.010–1.078) for ages 40–60 and RR = 1.000 (95% CI 0.977–1.023) for younger than 40-year-old. We did not find a specific content associated with ED visit for headache. Higher television news ratings were associated with increased incidence of Emergency Department headache related visits. We assume that especially among older persons, news viewership ratings provide an indirect estimate of collective stress, which acts as a headache trigger for susceptible subjects.

The research population consists of 1,600 people living in the north of Thailand with ages 15 and above. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-test (Independent Sample t-test and Pair sample t-test). The results revealed that most of the samples used to watch narrating news program on television, both on weekdays and holidays between 18.01 - 21.00 hrs which had the frequency of watching narrating news program every day. The narrating news program viewed because the language is easy to understand, and the reliability of the news programs is at a medium level. The results of the study also revealed that the sample group has an attitude towards program planning and contents of narrating news programs at a high level; the expectation was more significant than the satisfaction with the viewing of narrating news programs, which were the statistically significant difference at the 0.05. Entertainment and sports news have different attitudes towards programming and content of narrating news programs with statistically significant at the 0.05 level (P-value = 0.00), but the expectations and satisfaction are not different. While both types of news, sample groups were less satisfied with the narrating news programs than expected

THE JUDICIALIZATION WAS BROADCAST: the relationship between the media and the system of justice in Brazil

ABSTRACT

What is the role of the Justice System in the current process of institutional conflict in Brazil? Through a critical analysis of the concept of the judicialization of megapolitics, proposed by Ran Hirschl, we discuss the role of the Judiciary and Public Prosecutor’s Office in the current Brazilian political crisis. We call attention to the lack of clarity in Hirschl’s analysis about the fundamental problem of legitimacy in the conflict between governmental branches, and then we show how there is strong evidence in the Brazilian case that the mainstream media had the function of shifting legitimacy from the elected powers to the institutions of the System of Justice. To test our hypothesis, we compare the evolution of the popular approval of the main institutions of Brazilian democracy with the coverage that the quality newspapers Folha de S. Paulo, Estado de S. Paulo and Globo, and the television news program Jornal Nacional have dedicated to them from the beginning of 2014 until now, using data from the Manchetometro project. We conclude by suggesting improvements to the study of judicialization and particularly to the concept of the judicialization of the megapolitics.

Key words: Judicialization of politics; System of justice; Media; Public opinion; Attorney general
