This work presents a novel approach for simulating visibility (Vis) and ceiling base height (Hc) in up to 1 h using several machine learning (ML) algorithms. Ten years of meteorological data at 15 min intervals for Santos Dumont airport (SDA), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil were used in the ML method training and testing process. In the investigation, several categorical and regressive algorithms were trained and tested, and the results were verified with observations. The forecast results reveal that the categorical methods produced satisfactory results only up to 15 min for visibility prediction with the probability of detection greater than 85%. On the other hand, the regressive methods were found to be more capable of generating an accurate prediction of Vis and Hc compared to categorical method up to 60 min. The forecast evaluation metrics for Vis and Hc had correlation coefficients of 0.99 ± 0.00 and 0.96 ± 0.00, with mean absolute errors of 324 ± 77 m, and 167 ± 21 m, respectively. Results suggested that ML methods can improve the prediction of Vis and Hc up to 1 h when accurate observations are used for the analysis.

In the systemic movement there exist numerous approaches to systems, the most profound of which is the theory of functional systems by Anokhin, which remained largely intuitive science until his pioneering works. The basic principles of functional systems are formalized with the help of the convolutional polycategories in the form of categorical systems theory, which embraced the main systemic approaches, including the traditional mathematical theory of systems. Convolutional polycategories can be built using categorical splices that directly model the external and internal parts of systems. For an algebraic biology using the categorical theory of systems in relation to systemic constructions, the main task of which is to predict the properties of organisms from the genome using strict algebraic methods, new categorical methods are proposed that are widely used in categorical systems theory. These methods are based on the theory of categorical splices, with the help of which the behaviour of quantum-mechanical particles is modelled, in particular, within the framework of the proposed representation of molecules, including RNA and DNA, as categorical systems. Thus, new algebraic and categorical methods (associative algebras with identities, PROP, categorical splices) are involved in the analysis of the genome. The paper presents new results on these matters.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the moduli space of Ulrich bundles on a smooth complete intersection of two $4$-dimensional quadrics in $\mathbb P^5$. The main ingredient is the semiorthogonal decomposition by Bondal–Orlov, combined with the categorical methods pioneered by Kuznetsov and Lahoz–Macrì–Stellari. Using these methods, we prove that any smooth intersection of two 4-dimensional quadrics in $\mathbb P^5$ carries an Ulrich bundle of rank $r$ for every $r \ge 2$. Moreover, we provide a description of the moduli space of stable Ulrich bundles.

Abstract In a fuzzified probability theory, random events are modeled by measurable functions into [0,1] and probability measures are replaced with probability integrals. The transition from Boolean two-valued logic to Lukasiewicz multivalued logic results in an upgraded probability theory in which we define and study asymmetrical stochastic dependence/independence and conditional probability based on stochastic channels and joint experiments so that the classical constructions follow as particular cases. Elementary categorical methods enable us to put the two theories into a perspective.

AbstractWe generalise the Blok–Jónsson account of structural consequence relations, later developed by Galatos, Tsinakis and other authors, in such a way as to naturally accommodate multiset consequence. While Blok and Jónsson admit, in place of sheer formulas, a wider range of syntactic units to be manipulated in deductions (including sequents or equations), these objects are invariably aggregated via set-theoretical union. Our approach is more general in that nonidempotent forms of premiss and conclusion aggregation, including multiset sum and fuzzy set union, are considered. In their abstract form, thus, deductive relations are defined as additional compatible preorderings over certain partially ordered monoids. We investigate these relations using categorical methods and provide analogues of the main results obtained in the general theory of consequence relations. Then we focus on the driving example of multiset deductive relations, providing variations of the methods of matrix semantics and Hilbert systems in Abstract Algebraic Logic.
