Electro-discharge machining (EDM) is one of the preferred machining methods for closed impeller. A 3D model of the closed impeller was obtained by using three-dimensional software. Combined with EDM processing method, two kinds of partition schemes were proposed and a better partition scheme was gotten. A set of electrodes were designed based on the partition scheme. Motion simulation and interference checking were carried out. Experiments were conducted and a qualified closed impeller was machined successfully. So the design method for electrodes and the feasibility of processing are proven.

Virtual assembly is one of the main contents of the virtual manufacturing; assembly process simulation is an important part to product virtual assembly. The establishment and optimization technology of three-dimensional assembly simulation scene have been studied to develop a virtual machine assembly simulation system, which achieve a virtual simulation of assembly and disassembly of the machine and the integration and improvement of existing collision detection library, design and implement a graphical simulation system collision detection module, which can real-time interference checking to machine parts motion. The system has good human-computer interaction and visual interface, versatility, can be applied to any organization's assembly simulation, and through examples of the validity of the system.

The squeezing tool in 5-axis CNC incremental forming has more degrees of freedom and can squeeze the sheet metal along the reasonable direction, thus better forming effect is obtained. While in the process of 5-axis CNC incremental forming the interference between squeezing tool and workpiece occurs frequently because of the continual posture change of squeezing tool. Therefore the interference checking method of squeezing tool and workpiece is studied in this paper. The interference is checked out through the collision calculation of established squeezing tool solid models of different posture and workpiece solid model based on Parasolid modeling kernel. The case study shows that the method can check the interference between the squeezing tool and workpiece very well.

For the continuous welding problem of multi-T-tube radiators intersecting line, a new type of two-welding torch automatic welding machine is designed. The design scheme of the welding machine is described, and its main mechanisms are designed. Using three-dimensional software, its model is built. Motion simulation and interference checking are carried out based on interpolation. The fact welding test shows: the intersecting line is accurately welded and the production efficiency and welding quality is enhanced.

In order to improve the shortcomings of the existing machine, a new laser pipe-blanking machining is designed. A 3D optimization designing method of pipe-blanking machine is presented through using Solidworks software as a design platform. The simulation and verification of design results is realized by the virtual assembly of whole machine, interference checking and motion simulation of machining process. On the basis of the analysis of simulation results, the structure and capability of the product is further analyzed and optimized in order to achieve the best design.

This paper provides a method of automatic design for extendable truss based on CAD software. The method mainly consists of parametrical design, automatic assembly, interference checking and extraction of model properties. With Visual C + + as programming language, secondary development was done on automatic assembly and other related modules of CAD software, which can achieve parametrically automatic assembly, interference checking and automatically extracting properties of extendable truss model. Thus, this method can guide the design staff performing program design, improve the correctness and accuracy of design, shorten the design cycle of extendable truss and also has reference value on rapid design and development for other products.

Through analyzing the shape of screw of oil extraction progressing cavity pump, the spiral surface equation of screw was established; and from the relative motion between formed milling cutter and screw, the basic profile equation of formed milling cutter was established with the method of non-instantaneous envelope. According to the actual use of formed milling cutter, aim at the problem of wear for formed milling cutter, established profile equation of front cutting edge and constant back cutting edge, and finally to get a complete profile equation of formed milling cutter. The correctness of milling cutter profile is ensured by interference checking for profile equation of formed milling cutter. The profile equation of formed milling cutter provides a theoretical foundation for the design and manufacture, and it would have great significance to the actual production.

This paper focuses on application of the three-dimensional digital modeling, numerical analysis and optimization, digital control and other key technologies which provide technical support for the design and development in CNC floor boring and milling machine manufactruing. The three-dimensional digital modeling, digital assembly, interference checking help to eliminate some hidden trouble before processing and assembly. Numerical simulation reduces the cost and shortens the cycle of designand manufactruing in the optimal design of the machine. This technique has been successfully applied to a CNC Floor Boring and Milling Machine Model, which has been running for three years and achieved satisfactary economic result.
