The SANCT Model as per Vollmer (2016) suggests that certain elements are necessary for the support of learning in spaces, being – Self-esteem, Autonomy, Normality, Control and moTivation. The SANCT model can be applied to university spaces to ensure a SANCTuary of optimum spaces for users to enjoy. These spaces create a community for students and staff within safe boundaries and the desire is that these boundaries will be permeable to the general community through extended campus initiatives. The SANCT elements must be planned for and sustained in the design of university spaces, both physical and virtual to encourage the enjoyment of space by local users in the form of students, staff and outsider users in the form of community and professional visitors. The people are the most important part of every university and the spaces must meet the unique learning needs of the users who occupy them. The spaces must wrap around the people to keep them physically and emotionally safe with a sense of identity and belonging being encouraged by the distinct entity of university spaces.

The researchers studied motivating factors of Latinas studying at a university extended campus. Using mixed-methods, the following research question was investigated: What cultural, familial, and financial factors motivate Latinas to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a rural border extended campus? Study participants were Latina family studies students attending an extended campus of a university within a southwestern rural border community. Findings yielded familial factors to have the greatest impact on motivations, followed by financial factors.

Transformation of capital's social metabolic order: theory and extensionist praxis in agricultural communities in the municipality of Colares, Pará, Eastern Amazon   Abstract: The Marxist theory is used in this article as a means to demonstrate the existing potential within Amazonian villages and settlements to revert the current relationship between society and nature in favor of a new order that does not perpetuate the ‘metabolic failure’ as a result of the irrationalism of market to the detriment of nature. A different perspective from university extension regarding traditional agrarian and extractive communities is necessary once, on the periphery of market fetishes, these communities can establish a new framework of mediation with nature and its available resources. Colares, State of Pará, is a municipality in which the natural resources are nearly completely exhausted, however, its population still presents a great contingent living in agrarian and extractive activities. According to Marx's theory, the praxis of rupture is exercised by the riverine workers and villagers of Colares aiming at correct the ‘metabolic failure’ resulting from the relationship between work and nature, which is under the control of capital and market. The university extension experience reported in this article describes the cage free chicken farming (‘caipira’ chicken) as a new direction for a collective action able to catalyze the necessary means for the transformation of the capital’s social-metabolic order. This new order demands transferring the decision-making power from the intermediaries of production directly to the hands of the workers. Keywords: villages and riverine populace, university extended campus, metabolic failure.

Distance learning programs have influenced nearly all aspects of higher education. Extended campus locations at many colleges and universities have been assigned administrative responsibility for distance learning programs. The merger of these highly visible programs creates an educational leadership paradigm shift that draws attention to itself. This merger requires a re-evaluation of the current educational leadership practices associated with efficient operation of the extended campus location.
