OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to verify the association of class attendance percentage, and regular test marks of each taught subject in BDS final year with marks obtained in final examination. METHODOLOGY: Class attendance and test performance records of all participants were obtained from the college authority, and the final professional examination marks sheet issued by UHS was obtained from the college office. Potential confounders like age, gender and parents’ occupation were also recorded for each student. Pearson’s correlation coefficient test was applied to verify the association of class attendance and class tests marks percentage for different subjects taught with final marks. Multivariate analysis was undertaken by adjusting for confounders in the model. RESULTS: This study found significant correlation between each taught subject class test marks with final marks obtained in each respective subject of the final year. Class attendance of each taught subject had weak, insignificant association with final marks except in one subject i.e., Operative Dentistry. CONCLUSION: Class test marks are a stronger predictor of final examination marks than class attendance percentage.

The quasi-experimental study examines the effect of the Problem-based Learning (PBL) teaching strategy on one higher secondary school student's academic achievement under Thimphu Thromde, Bhutan. The student participants were selected through non-probability convenient sampling techniques. All students of XI Arts (N=30) and XI Commerce (N=38) participated in the study. Class XI Arts students were used as a controlled group and XI Commerce students as an experimental group. The experimental group was taught using PBL, and the control group was taught using the traditional lecture method. The pre-test data were collected through class test 1, and post-test data were collected through class test 2 and 5 points Likert scale survey questionnaire. The results revealed that the experimental group scored higher marks in the class test than the control group. The mean score of the pre-test of the XI Arts and XI Commerce (both controlled group) were 40.75 and 38.81 initially. The mean score of the experiment group's post-test showed 44.73, while the controlled group managed only 43.00. Further, the experimental group had a favorable opinion on the effectiveness of the PBL strategy. The study recommends the implementation of the PBL teaching strategy despite PBL being time-consuming and resource-intensive.

The study tested three forms of sitting to see how effective they were in restricting test-takers' malpractice behaviours in higher education. The researcher was primarily concerned with three study questions. In this study, data were collected using an observation inventory, together with eight sets of performance assessments, all conceived by the researcher. A sample of 407 randomly selected students from a public university's department of educational administration took part in three quasi-experiments. The collected data were analysed using frequency counts and simple percentages. It was determined, among other things, that many higher education test-takers participate in various sorts of examination misconduct. Giraffing, copying from colleagues, exchanging scripts, discussing with peers, using microchips (little papers with answers), phones, swapping seats, handwriting on desks, using headphones, and requesting invigilators for help are all manifestations of these behaviours. It is found that test-takers' malpractice behaviours change depending on the test supervision design used. The educational assessment implications were examined in light of these findings. Examiners wishing to limit the occurrence of examination fraud and improve efficient performance assessments may utilize one or more combinations of gender separation and inter-class test sitting arrangements.

AbstractTesting represents a crucial activity to ensure software quality. Recent studies have shown that test-related factors (e.g., code coverage) can be reliable predictors of software code quality, as measured by post-release defects. While these studies provided initial compelling evidence on the relation between tests and post-release defects, they considered different test-related factors separately: as a consequence, there is still a lack of knowledge of whether these factors are still good predictors when considering all together. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive case study on how test-related factors relate to production code quality in Apache systems. We first investigated how the presence of tests relates to post-release defects; then, we analyzed the role played by the test-related factors previously shown as significantly related to post-release defects. The key findings of the study show that, when controlling for other metrics (e.g., size of the production class), test-related factors have a limited connection to post-release defects.

The failure rates of the medical students had increased during the past few years. There are many supportive factors for deteriorating the students’ performance. One of these might be due to some defect in teaching/learning system. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the effects of changes in teaching/learning schedule pattern in Physiology Subject among 2nd MB BS students from University of Medicine, Magway. A Comparative study was done. Data was collected from 2nd MBBS students studying at University of Medicine, Magway, Myanmar (n = 230). Class test-1 was done before the introducing of the new teaching/learning schedule pattern. There was 3-month intervention of introducing the new teaching/learning schedule pattern. At the end of this program, class test-2 was done. Scores of all students in class test-1 and class test-2 were compared and analyzed. In the present study, the average marks of class test-1 and class test-2 were 38.23±14.56 and 43.32±18.42, respectively. It was found that the average score of the students in class test-2 was higher than that of class test-1(p< 0.001). Both class test-1 and class test-2 included 2 sections which involved multiple choice questions (MCQs) and multiple short questions (MSQs). In MCQs section, 22.17% of the total students were passed in class test-1 whereas it was increased to 33.48% in class test-2 (p< 0.01). In MSQs section, it was indicated that 29.56% of the total students were passed in class test-1 and 39.56% of the students were passed in class test-2 (p< 0.001). In the average score of both MCQs and MSQs, the students passed rate is increased from 26.96% to 36.96% after the changing of teaching/learning style (p< 0.001).This findings suggested that the new teaching/learning style was more effective than the traditional teaching.

Abstract Background: Before receiving ophthalmology trainee courses in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre, the medical students of Sun Yat-sen University had finished two years of premedical education, following thesix years of medical courses including basic medical course, clinical medical courses, clerkship, and research training in medical school. Integrated modular teaching using different problem-based teaching methods in Ophthalmology was designed bythe teaching steering committee of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and satisfaction scales of the integrated modular teaching among the trainee students. Methods: A total of 100 medical students who was receiving ophthalmology trainee courses in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre were enrolled, which were randomly allocated to 4 groups according to teaching arrangement, each of which contained 6 small groups. The trainee courses included several sections and multiple methods, such as "flipped classroom"section and team-based learning section. The pre-class test and post-class test were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated modular teaching, and participants satisfaction survey questionnaire was collected to investigate the satisfaction among the participants. Results: Comparing with the first-day-test scores, the last-day-test score was significantly improved in total (t=3.288, P=0.001) in a pair t test. There was no significant difference of the last-day-test scores (F=1.163, P=0.328) in an ANOVA test among the four groups, even when the final grade of ophthalmology before entering the trainee courses was significantly different, and a significant difference of the first-day-test scores was found (F=7.614, P=0.000) among the four groups. Since the pre-class knowledge of ophthalmology could be evaluated by the final grade of ophthalmology before entering the trainee courses and the first-day-test scores, these results just showed us that the integrated modular teaching using in trainee courseswas effective and useful. There were 19 students who had an outstanding improvement with ranking ahead of more than 10 in all the participants in the last-day-test, which did not have higher average scores for daily performance than other students (t=0.469, P=0.654). According to the participant satisfaction questionnaires, these innovative teaching methods were considered effective and popular. Conclusions:Integrated modular teaching was effective and popular to the medical college students in ophthalmology trainee courses.
