Adatok a Kisalföld flórájának ismeretéhez IV.

Dolgozatunkban a Kisalföld határainkon belülre eső területén 2015-2020 közötti időszakban végzett florisztikai kutatások legfontosabb eredményeit ismertetjük. Az előfordulási adatok felsorolását követően értékelésre kerül országos vagy regionális jelentőségük, növényföldrajzi, természetvédelmi szerepük. A felsorolásban 52 fajról szerepelnek új adatok, amelyek közül 40 hazánkban természetes (honos) előfordulású, 12 idegenhonos elem. Eredményeink közül kiemelendő a Kisalföldre nézve új Gagea minima megtalálása, az Epipactis tallosii két új állományának felfedezése, a Polystichum setiferum előfordulásának bizonyítása, továbbá több gyomjellegű növény (Apera interrupta, Calepina irregularis, Erigeron sumatrensis, Euphorbia prostrata, Panicum dichotomiflorum) új lelőhelyeinek kimutatása. Jelentősebben bővítjük az ismereteket az Erysimum hieraciifolium szigetközi, a Succisella inflexa rábaközi, és az Ornithogalum × degenianum Marcal-medencei elterjedéséhez. Adatokat közlünk közutak mentén terjedő (Atriplex micrantha, Dittrichia graveolens, Eleusine indica), valamint dísznövényként ültetett (Pennisetum alopecuroides, Sedum pallidum) adventív fajokról.

Relative Abundance of the Stink Bug (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) Complex Infesting Rice in the Everglades Agricultural Area of Florida

Florida’s rice stink bug complex comprises three species; Oebalus pugnax (F.), O. insularis (Stal), and O. ypsilongriseus (DeGeer), the latter two of which are invasive and exclusive to Florida within the United States. A series of surveys were conducted in 2017 and 2018 to determine the relative abundance of the three species throughout Florida’s rice growing region within the Everglades Agricultural Area, in addition to comparing their seasonality within crop and noncrop habitats. Sampling occurred in commercial rice fields and adjacent transects of graminaceous noncrop hosts using sweep nets. Oebalus pugnax (52.7%) and O. insularis (61.7%) were the most abundant species in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Both species were more prevalent in rice fields compared to transects of noncrop hosts. Oebalus ypsilongriseus remained in low abundance relative to O. pugnax and O. insularis, and did not differ in numbers collected among rice and noncrop hosts. Of the noncrop hosts in transects, Panicum dichotomiflorum (fall panicum) was the most abundant across both years. This study is the first report of Oebalus species feeding on Echinochloa crus-galli (common barnyardgrass) in Florida. This study shows that the invasive O. insularis continues to increase in abundance, and has surpassed O. pugnax in terms of regional populations. These results emphasize the need for additional studies to assess the interactions among O. insularis and other Oebalus species in addition to its feeding behavior in Florida rice.

Az Oenothera pycnocarpa Atk. & Bartl. Magyarországon, és kiegészítések néhány idegenhonos faj hazai elterjedéséhez

A tanulmány 19 neofita faj 153 új elterjedési adatát tartalmazza Magyarország területéről az elmúlt néhány évből. Először sikerült kimutatni Magyarországról az Oenothera pycnocarpa-t, mely Tápiószecső határában, ugaron telepedett meg. Megadjuk a talált növények részletes morfológiai leírását, fotókkal illusztrálva. Európai példák alapján lassú terjedése várható, mely nem fenyegeti a természetes élőhelyeket átalakítással. Bemutatunk 3 átalakító fajt, melyek közül a Sporobolus cryptandrus homoki gyepeket veszélyeztet a Kiskunságban, a Prunus serotina a Bakonyalján tölgyes felújítások során jelent fokozódó problémát, míg a Panicum dichotomiflorum (elsősorban az Északi-középhegységben) gyorsuló ütemben alakítja át a mezőgazdasági területek gyomvegetációját és a mezsgyék, útszélek növényzetét. Részben átalakító fajok közül kettőt ismertetünk. Az Alföld kivételével, az ország nagy részén már igen elterjedt Impatiens parviflora alföldperemi, szigetszerű erdőfoltban való megjelenéséről számolunk be, valamint számos helyről mutatjuk ki az alulkutatott Oenothera depressa-t, mely az egyik leggyakoribb ligetszépe taxon a Kiskunságban, és főleg homoki parlagokon, meddőhányókon és törmelékdombokon, esetenként homoki gyepekben és kultúrerdők nyílt homokfelszínein él. Az Oenothera pycnocarpa-n kívül 10 további terjedő, de (még) nem átalakító fajról is közlünk adatokat. A Commelina communis jellegzetes városi előfordulásai mellett vasúti sínek között és erdei szemétkupacon is megjelent. A Cymbalaria muralis nagyobb városokon kívül már kisebb falvak kőfalain is megtalálható. Az Euphorbia maculata, E. prostrata és az Eleusine indica jellemző városi populációin kívül ma már falvakban és műutak, földutak településektől távoli pontjain is élnek. Az Iva xanthiifolia trágyadombon, szántóparlagon és vadszórókon került elő, lassan terjedő faj. A Lepidium densiflorum megjelenése földutakon és vasútállomásokon jellegzetes. A dísznövényként ültetett Oenothera glazioviana szubspontán állományai elsősorban faluszéli árokpartokon, szemétdombokon, ritkábban homoki parlagokon bukkannak fel és élnek túl. A Phytolacca esculenta gyorsuló invázióját zöldhulladék-dombi, árokparti és városi parki adatokkal dokumentáljuk. A Trigonella caerulea egykori takarmánynövény, mely homoki szántóparlagokon önfenntartó állományokat hozott létre Fülöpszállás határában. Végül bemutatunk 3 alkalmi kivadulót. Az Euphorbia lathyris és az Impatiens balfourii terjesztésében nagy szerepet játszanak az illegális zöldhulladék-dombok, a lerakott nyesedék. A világszerte is csak ritkán kivaduló Goniolimon tataricum szubspontán előfordulását a Balaton-felvidéken útrézsűkön, Kunszentmiklóson temetőben figyeltük meg.

Taxonomical and chorological notes 11 (112–125)

The present part of the series provides new records of 14 taxa of which 8 are native and 6 introduced in Europe. Three vascular plants are newly reported from Kosovo (Corrigiola litoralis, Dysphania pumilio, Equisetum pratense) and one (Chamaecytisus purpureus) from Northern Macedonia. The occurrence of one species (Corydalis pumila) is confirmed in Northern Macedonia. Amendments to the known distribution of vascular plants are reported from Albania (Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Gratiola officinalis, Onosma heterophylla, Paspalum dilatatum), Hungary (Euphorbia lathyris), Lithuania (Ophioglossum vulgatum), and Slovakia (Duchesnea indica, Panicum dichotomiflorum, Pilosella cymosa).

Sugarcane response and fall panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum) control with topramezone and triazine herbicides

Field studies were conducted on organic soils in Belle Glade, FL, in 2016 to 2017 to evaluate sugarcane tolerance and fall panicum control with topramezone applied alone or in combination with triazine herbicides (atrazine, metribuzin, ametryn). Treatments included topramezone (25 and 50 g ai ha−1) applied alone or in combination with atrazine (2,240 g ai ha−1), metribuzin (2,240 g ai ha−1), and ametryn (440 g ha−1) on four plant cane varieties to evaluate tolerance, and on second ratoon fields to determine efficacy on fall panicum control. Topramezone applied alone had no effect on sugarcane chlorophyll fluorescence (i.e., the ratio of variable fluorescence to maximum fluorescence), total chlorophyll, and carotenoid 7 to 28 d after treatment (DAT), suggesting sugarcane tolerance. Significant reduction of these parameters occured 7 to 14 DAT when topramezone (50 g ai ha−1) was applied with ametryn or metribuzin; however, reductions were not detected thereafter, indicating recovery. Sugarcane yield was not affected by topramezone applied alone or in combination with the triazine herbicides. Topramezone (50 g ai ha−1) plus metribuzin resulted in acceptable control of fall panicum (84%) with limited to no regrowth of meristematic tissue at sugarcane canopy closure, equivalent to 56 to 70 DAT. These results indicate that when sequential applications of topramezone, applied alone or in combination with these triazine herbicides, are required for efficacious weed control, topramezone applications alone can be made after 7 d, whereas the combinations can be made after 14 or 21 d, depending on sugarcane sensitivity.

Fall panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum) toxicosis in three juvenile goats

Consumption of certain grasses belonging to the genus Panicum has been found to cause hepatogenous photosensitization and crystal-associated cholangiohepatopathy in small ruminants, and liver disease in horses, in many areas of the world. We describe herein the clinical findings, microscopic lesions, and steroidal saponin analysis of Panicum dichotomiflorum associated with fatal toxicosis in 3 juvenile goats in Nebraska. The disease presentation in our case was fulminant, with anorexia, marked icterus, and death for all affected animals in less than a week. Photosensitization was not observed. The microscopic lesions consisted of severe crystal-associated cholangiohepatopathy and nephropathy, with aggregates of clear or refractile and birefringent, acicular crystals present within bile ducts, macrophages, hepatocytes, and renal tubules. High-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry of the grass samples demonstrated that dichotomin was the major steroidal saponin present (0.89 µg/mg); protodioscin was also present (0.059 µg/mg). The findings were consistent with ingestion of steroidal saponins, and P. dichotomiflorum was identified as the predominant forage available.

Differential Response of Fall Panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum) Populations in Florida Sugarcane to Asulam

Sugarcane growers in Florida have been reporting reduced control of fall panicum with asulam, the main herbicide used for POST grass control. Therefore, outside container experiments were conducted to determine the response of four fall panicum populations from Florida to asulam applied alone and to evaluate whether tank-mix combination with trifloxysulfuron enhances control. Asulam was applied at 230 to 7,400 g ai ha−1, corresponding to 1/16 to 2X the maximum labeled rate for a single application in sugarcane, with or without combination with trifloxysulfuron at 16 g ai ha−1. Three fall panicum populations were collected from fields in which reduced control had been reported, while one population was from a field not used for sugarcane production but adjacent to a sugarcane field. The potency of asulam based on ED50values (the rate required to cause 50% dry weight reduction at 28 d after treatment) ranged from 2,249 to 5,412 g ha−1for tolerant populations with reported reduced fall panicum control compared with 1,808 g ha−1for the susceptible population from the field not used for sugarcane production, showing that the latter was most sensitive to asulam. Addition of trifloxysulfuron to asulam increased potency on fall panicum by 5- to 15-fold, indicating that the tank mix enhanced dry weight reduction for all populations. The probability of fall panicum survival (regrowth after aboveground biomass harvesting) at the labeled rate of asulam ranged from 2% to 47% compared with 0% to 6% when trifloxysulfuron was added to the tank mix. Our results show differential response of fall panicum populations in Florida to asulam, which can be overcome by tank mixing with trifloxysulfuron even for populations that are difficult to control in sugarcane, but no evolution of resistance to asulam.

Critical Timing of Fall Panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum) Removal in Sugarcane

Fall panicum is the most troublesome annual grass weed in sugarcane in Florida. The critical timing of fall panicum removal in sugarcane or the maximum amount of early season interference that sugarcane can tolerate before it suffers irrecoverable yield loss is not known. Field studies were conducted from 2012 to 2015 in Belle Glade, FL to determine the critical timing of fall panicum removal and season-long interference in sugarcane. The effect of season-long fall panicum interference and critical timing of removal based on 5 and 10% acceptable yield loss (AYL) levels were determined by fitting a log-logistic equation to percentage millable stalk, cane, and sugar yield loss data. Millable stalks, cane, and sucrose yield decreased as the duration of fall panicum interference increased. Season-long interference of fall panicum resulted in 34 to 60%, 34 to 62%, and 44 to 60% millable stalk, cane, and sucrose yield loss, respectively. The critical timing of fall panicum removal based on 5 and 10% AYL for millable stalks was 5 to 9 wk after sugarcane emergence (WAE). At 5 and 10% AYL, the critical timing of fall panicum removal ranged from 5 to 9 WAE and 6 to 8 WAE for cane and sucrose yield loss, respectively. These results show that fall panicum is competitive with sugarcane early in the season, demonstrating the need for timely early-season control to reduce negative effect on yield.
