In a globalized world, tourist destinations must have a website containing accurate information for potential tourists. However, there is currently no model that serves as a guide to evaluate the usability of tourism websites. A web usability audit manual is presented in this work with the application of a case study methodology, which combines theoretical contributions with those of a real audit of a tourism institution. Apart from the description of the manual itself, the results of this work have made it possible to identify a series of actions to be taken into account, as well as others that should be avoided when a usability audit is being carried out in the tourism field.

Abstract

Website PROKAL.co is the Kalimantan regional news portal, this website expected to facilitate its users including PROKAL to search for information that users need. Based on the results of interviews with PROKAL, there are usability issues related to the success factor of website PROKAL.co, there are learnability and errors. Since founded in 2015, the evaluation related to the usability of the website has yet to be performed. It affects PROKAL's plan to redesign the user interface of the website in 2020, because PROKAL still doesn’t know the needs and problems experienced by users also what website will look like in the future. Based on the description above, a usability evaluation study was conducted using the Heuristic method in order to find problems from the PROKAL.co website with reference to heuristic principles. Then, to be able to involve PROKAL.co users, the Web Usability Evaluation Tool (WEBUSE) method is also used. This research was conducted with 5 main stages, those are establishing requirements to find usability problems, design alternatives to design the improvements with the form of design ideas, protoyping to implement and build designs, evaluating to evaluate the prototype results, and conclusions. Based on the results of the evaluation, there are 2 evaluation indicators that really need improvement, 7 evaluation indicators need improvement with high priority, and 1 evaluation indicator require improvement with low priority. In addition, there were proposed recommendations for user interface in the form of 11 prototype user interface designs for desktop improvements and 30 designs for the mobile website PROKAL.co that have been adjusted and approved to the needs of PROKAL. The results obtained can be used as a reference by the PROKAL.co website in making improvements.

Abstract The objective of this publication is to analyze compliance with the web usability guidelines on Giving information quickly and comprehensibly. The behavior of 20 IT engineers without experience in web usability is analyzed to collect data on the application and compliance of each of the studied guidelines. The objectives are: (1) make a list of recommendations on the presentation of information and possible actions in a quickly understandable way. And highlight the most forgotten guidelines or the worst followed by web developers to think about the importance of offering specific training in this field. (2) Know the most important guidelines according to the participants themselves. To obtain the results, user tests are performed that evaluate the most ignored and applied guidelines. And its correct compliance is studied, since the participants do not have experience in web usability. Besides, interviews are conducted to find out which are the guidelines that they consider most important. It is expected to know if there are guidelines that apply intuitively and why. It is also intended to know if this innate application is helpful or compliance is wrong and needs specific training.
