Weed Seed Species Inventory of Wheat Imported through Tanjung Perak Port

Wheat seeds importation has the potential of weed seeds that can harm Indonesia's biodiversity. This study aims to determine the types and morphological characters of weed seeds carried by imported wheat from Australia, Canada, and Ukraine through the port of Tanjung Perak-Surabaya for January-June 2018. The research was started by collecting weed seeds from wheat samples, observing using a SMZ 1270 stereo microscope and identifying them using a reference book. The weed seeds were successfully identified as 13 families with 20 species originating from Australia, Canada and Ukraine. The most common types of weeds are from the Poaceae family. Weed this family are often found in the form of florets, the seeds of which are called caryopsis are coated in lema and palea, as in grains. Weed seed species found in wheat commodities from the three countries, are: Avena fatua, Brassica campestris, and Polygonum convolvulus, are not classified as quarantine pest.

Confirmation and Characterization of the First Case of Acetolactate Synthase (ALS)-Inhibitor—Resistant Wild Buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus L.) in the United States

Wild buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus L.) is a problem weed and ALS-inhibitors (e.g., chlorsulfuron) are commonly used for its management. Recently, a population of wild buckwheat (KSW-R) uncontrolled with ALS-inhibitors was found in a wheat field in Kansas, USA. The objectives of this research were to determine the level and mechanism of resistance to chlorsulfuron and cross resistance to other ALS-inhibitors in the KSW-R population. In response to chlorsulfuron rates ranging from 0 to 16x (x = 18 g ai/ha), the KSW-R wild buckwheat was found >100-fold more resistant compared to a known ALS-inhibitor susceptible (KSW-S) wild buckwheat. Also, >90% of KSW-R plants survived field recommended rates of sulfonylurea but not imidazolinone family of ALS-inhibitors. A portion of the ALS gene covering all previously reported mutations known to bestow resistance to ALS-inhibitors was sequenced from both KSW-R and KSW-S plants. The Pro-197-Ser substitution that confers resistance to the sulfonylurea herbicides was found in KSW-R plants. Our results support the evolution of high level of chlorsulfuron resistance as a result of a mutation in the ALS-gene in KSW-R buckwheat. This is the first case of resistance to any herbicides in wild buckwheat in the US.

Young peacock-shaped plants need protection

Goal. Paulownia felines — Paulownia tomentosa L., a promising bioenergy crop for our country. In the early stages of organogenesis (juvenile and immature), young plants of the peacock sprout easily suppress weeds. Therefore, young plantations of such a promising bioenergy crop need reliable and effective protection against the adverse effects of weeds. Method. Weeding processes for young peacock plantations in the small field experiments were conducted in 2018—2019. on the experimental lands of the Yaltushk SSS IBEK and the Central Bank of NAAS The area of the plots is 36 m2, the area of the plot is 25 m2. Repeat studies — 4 times. Placement of sites is regular in two tiers. Seeds and young plants (seedlings) of Clone 112 were used for growing on the plots. Results and Discussion. Contamination of plantations was mixed. The records, carried out on 01.06, recorded the presence of seedlings of Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Pal Beauv, Setaria glauca (L.) Pal.Beauv, Chenopodium album L., Sinapis arvensis L., Thlaspy arvense L., Polygonum scabrum Moench., mustard beetle, Polygonum convolvulus L, Solanum nigrum L. The number of weeds averaged 89.5 pcs/m2. The largest number of seedlings was recorded in millet rooster 12.4pcs/m2, mouse gray — 10.3 pcs/m2, white swans — 8.7 pcs/m2, bear­ded birch — 7.3 pcs/ m2, talaban field — 7.1 pcs/m2. By the third decade of August, their number had increased to 134.0 pieces/ m2. Conclusions. Under the conditions of co-vegetation of young peacock-planted plants with weeds, the height of their plants by the second decade of September averaged 23.6.cm. The height of crop plants that vegetated without adversely affecting the presence of weed plantations (4 consecutive manual weeding) averaged 63.8 cm or 2.7 times greater. Such a negative impact requires the implementation of protection measures for young plants.

The herbicide effect for controlling the weeds in wheat field

Of all reported distributions of weeds of 19 species belonging to 15 genera of 10 families in the wheat planted fields Tsagaannuur soum of Selenge aimag, annuals account for 57.9%, biennials for 10.5% and perennials for 31.5%. The use of herbicide Trimexa, Cliomex 300, Cliodmex plus and Trimexa + Cliodimex plus express for controlling both grassy and dicotyledonous weeds has Agropyron repens L, Panicium miliaceum L, Eragrostis minor Host, Amaranthus retroflexus L, Artemisia sieversiana Willd, Cannabis ruderalis Janisch, Chenopodium album L, Chenopodium aristatum L, Chenopodium acuminatum Willd, Convolvulus arvensis L, Convolvulus gortschakovii Schrenk, Erodium stephanianum Willd, Polygonum convolvulus L, Geranium siviricum L, Salsola collina (Pall), Salsola australis R.Br, Noneo pulla L, Malva mohileviensis Downer, Vicia cracca L. 84.4-90.9% technical effectiveness.

Eficiência de controle de cipó-de-veado por glyphosate e glyphosate + 2,4-D em diferentes horários de aplicação

As aplicações de herbicidas são normalmente realizadas em condições ambientais específicas que podem influenciar a eficácia dos produtos. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a influência de horários de aplicação dos herbicidas glyphosate e glyphosate + 2,4-D no controle da planta daninha cipó-de-veado (Polygonum convolvulus). O experimento foi desenvolvido com vasos em condições de campo. Os tratamentos foram constituídos pelos herbicidas glyphosate (960 g ha-1) e glyphosate + 2,4-D (960 + 335 g ha-1), ambos aplicados em 25 e 26/09/2015, nos horários de 22:00 h, 3:00 h, 7:00 h; 12:00 h e 17:00 h e uma testemunha sem aplicação, para o controle da planta daninha cipó-de-veado. As unidades experimentais foram constituídas por vasos plásticos com 4 plantas em estádio de 3 a 5 folhas, mantidas em condições naturais da aplicação até os 28 DAA (dias após aplicação). As aplicações foram realizadas com um pulverizador costal com quatro pontas de pulverização AVI110.02, pressão de 210 kPa, velocidade de deslocamento de 3,6 km h-1 e taxa de aplicação de 200 L ha-1. Os resultados indicaram que glyphosate e glyphosate + 2,4-D controlaram eficientemente a planta daninha a partir dos 14 DAA, independentemente do horário da aplicação. Entretanto, foram constatadas reduções significativa na eficiência de controle e produção de matéria seca da parte aérea da planta daninha no horário das 12:00 h, assim como menor deposição de glyphosate + 2,4-D, em todos os horários das aplicações.

RESULT OF HERBICIDES APPLIED AGAINST OF WEEDS IN SOYBEAN FIELD

Herbicides, if used properly, are safe and effective in controlling weeds in soybean. The choice of herbicide, however, depends on the predominant weed species and the availability of the herbicide. Chemical control is currently the most widely used control for soybean crops, due to its ease of control and to the small areas planted in Mongolia. In the soybean field the 15species of weeds belonging to 9 families, 12 genus including 62.5 % annual, 37.5%perennial weeds are distributed.The major grassy weeds; Common millet-(Panicummiliaceum L), Couch grass-(Agropyronrepens L), Bristlegrass-(Seteriaviridis L) sp and broadleaved weeds Redroot Pigweed-(Amaranthtusretro flexus),lambs guarters-(Chenopodium album), AristateGoosfoot-(Chenopodiumaristatum L), Black bindweed-(Polygonum convolvulus), Mallow weed-(Malvamochileviensis Down), Field bindweed-(Convolvulus arvensis), Bristhly thistle-(Cirsiumsetosum ), Dwarf bifurcate cinquefoil -(Potentillabifurca), Perennial Sowthisle-(Sonchusarvensis L) weeds have been distributed in the soybean field.In soybean field the Forward herbicide were applied in doses of 1.0-1.2l/ha have reduced the number of weeds by 90.1-91.6%, weight by 59.5-66.1% and super herbicide Gallantsuper applied in doses of 0.45-0.65l/ha have reduced the number of weeds by 91.0-95.0%, weight by 39.5-59.8% while Cobra herbicide applied in doses of 0.45-0.55l/ha used in broadleaved weed distributed field, have reduced the number of weeds by 90.2-94.6% and weight by 42.7-50.7%. RESULT OF APPLICATION OF HERBICIDES FOR CONTROLLING THE WEEDS IN WHEATFIELD

According to weed distribution research outputs have been recorded 13 species belonging to 12 genera of 11 families in the wheat fields of Nart-1 center in Bornuursoum of Tuvaimag, among them, annuals for68.5%, biennials for 14.7% and perennials for 16.8% were estimated. The application of herbicides such as Penizan, Zinger, Lornet, Ovsygen express, Penizan + Ovsygen express and Zinger + Ovsygen for controlling both grassy and dicotyledonous weeds has Chenopodium album L, Polygonum convolvulus L, Paniciummiliaceum L, Avenafatua L, Setariaviridis L, Cannabis ruderalis, Fagopyrumtataricum L, Chenopodiumaristatum L, Salsolacollina (Pall), Amaranthusretro flexus L, SilenerepensPatr, Potentillabifurca L, Geranium siviricum L, Agropyronrepens L, Noneopulla L, C Linariaburiatica (Turcz), Potentillaanserina L, Artemisia sieversiana Willd, Plantago major L, Taraxacumofficinale Wigg, Medicagofalgate L were shown 87.5-100% technical effectiveness.Mongolian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Vol.13(2) 2014: 80-83

Herbicide Mixtures for Control of Water Smartweed (Polygonum amphibium) and Wild Buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus) in Potato

Water smartweed, an uncommon but troublesome perennial weed of the knotweed family (Polygonaceae), has been endemic with its terrestrial growth form in the area of Kato Nevrokopi in northern Greece, one of the most important potato-growing areas of the country. Two field trials were conducted in 2011 to study the response of water smartweed, wild buckwheat (an annual weed also of the knotweed family), and two potato cultivars (‘Agria' and ‘Banba') to various mixtures of metribuzin and pendimethalin, the two most commonly used herbicides for PRE weed management in potato in Greece. Herbicide mixtures consisted of pendimethalin plus metribuzin, pendimethalin plus rimsulfuron, metribuzin plus rimsulfuron, metribuzin plus prosulfocarb, metribuzin plus flufenacet, and pendimethalin plus metribuzin plus rimsulfuron applied preemergence. Metribuzin and pendimethalin were also applied alone. Water smartweed was difficult to control at the treatments and rates tested. Among all mixtures, a premixture of metribuzin plus prosulfocarb at 320 + 3,200 g ai ha−1provided the greatest control of water smartweed (47%) and wild buckwheat (87%). Herbicide treatments did not cause detrimental effect on growth of either potato cultivar, and marketable tuber yield generally improved with application of mixtures when compared with metribuzin or pendimethalin applied alone. Control of water smartweed in northern Greece potato production remains a difficult problem to solve, suggesting that until new herbicides are registered for use in potato in Greece, other options of weed control should be sought.

Chromatographical analysis of phenolic acids in some species of Polygonum L. genus. Part 1 Qualitative analysis by two-dimensional thin layer chromatography (TLC)

The Two-Dimensional Thin Layer Chromatography method has been used for the separation and identification of phenolic acids from six taxons of <em>Pohygonum</em> L. genus. The following acids were found: caffeic, p-coumaric, ferulic, p-hydroxybenzoic, m-hydroxybenzoic, vanillic, syringic, p-hydroxyphenylacetic, o-hydroxyphenylacetic, synapic, melillotic, salicylic, gentisic, elagic, gallic, chlorogenic, protocatechuic and homoprotocatechuic. Gallic, ferulic, vanillic, p-coumaric and p-hydroxybenzoic acids were isolated from herb <em>Polygonum convolvulus</em> L. using column chromatography.

Wheat Yield and Weedness under Different Rate of Nitrogen Fertilization

In this study we tested yield and weediness in wheat cultivars Lazarica and Julija Mono grown under different regime of mineral nutrition. This investigation was conducted at the long term experiment on control variant (without fertilizers), second variant with nitrogen application (two sub variants with different rate of N) 2N1 (80 kg N ha-1) and 2N2 (120 kg N ha-1), third variant with NP fertilizer with two different rate of N application: 3N1 (80 kg N ha-1 + 100kg P ha-1) and 3N2 (120 kg N ha-1 + 100kg P ha-1) and fourth variant 4N1 (80 kg N ha-1 + 60kg P ha-1) and 4N2 (120 kg N ha-1 + 60kg P ha-1). Weediness varies in dependence of rate and variant of fertilization. The weed species Consolida regalis Gray, Convolvulus arvensis L., Polygonum aviculare L., Cirsium arvense L., Agropyrum repens L., Polygonum convolvulus L. was dominant on fertilized plots. The analyzed variability of grain yield depends of applied fertilizer variants. The lowest grain yield was found on control variant in both wheat cultivar Lazatica (1880kg ha-1), Julija Mono (1740kg ha-1) while the highest grain yield on variant 3N2 (120 kg N ha-1 + 100kg P ha-1) Lazarica (3724kg ha-1 Julija Mono (4990kg ha-1) and low weediness.
