Non-doped OLEDs using phenanthroimidazole–acridine derivatives PhImAc and PhImEn were designed and fabricated. They display deep blue with the CIE (0.15, 0.07) and (0.15, 0.05).

Fluorescence spectroscopy investigations of the new acridine derivative bis(N,N-dimethylaminemethylene)acridine (3) show remarkable selectivity and sensitivity towards Zn2+and Cd2+ions in methanol and for the latter even in water.

A new acridine based photoinduced electron transfer based fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds is reported. The probe exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity for the detection of picric acid over trivial explosive in CH3OH.
