From the Remainder of Adam’s Clay

This article presents an introduction to and a complete English translation of the eighth chapter of Ibn al-ʿArabī’s (d. 638/1240) magnum opus al-Futūḥāt al-makkiyya. The chapter, entitled, “On the earth that was made from the remainder of Adam’s leaven clay, which is the Earth of Reality, and on some of the strange and wondrous things contained therein,” contains a description of a world wholly separate from our own. An underlying argument in this chapter is that the human intellect, constrained as it is by the categories of possibilities which pertain to our earthly configuration, is incapable of grasping the vast expanse of this “Earth of Reality.” Ibn al-ʿArabī also aims to show how many of the Qur’anic and Prophetic traditions which the intellect struggles to comprehend exist in this other world without any contradiction. In this sense, the chapter in question seeks to inculcate a sense of wonder and bewilderment in readers, reminding them that there will always be worlds, beyond our immediate sensory world, that remain to be seen and known.

Artificial Intelligence – (un)justified ambitions and (needless) fears

Artificial Intelligence is undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements of the human intellect; in a sense , it has a creative character, because here one being (i.e. a human) gives (well, maybe not quite yet, but almost) independent life to a different being. The curiosity where this will lead us humans seems to be greater than the questions of anxiety that arise on this occasion. These questions are very diverse and concern almost all aspects of human activity. The interest in the development of new technologies connected with artificial intelligence and with the future is perfectly justified, but what about the risk that is inherent in every invention; moreover, a risk that is usually proportional to its actual importance? This paper contains many questions, not at all original, expressing anxiety, for which we still do not have answers – and probably will not for a long time.

HUMAN EVOLUTION AND TECHNOLOGICAL EVOLUTION: A HISTORY OF INSTRUMENTALIZATION, DEVALUATION AND BETRAYAL

The principle of evolution applies to every creature in the world and permits us to understand the various stages through which progress is achieved. The emancipation of the human race portrays an evolutionary process through which the human intellect is uplifted above and beyond the realms of ignorance and naivety. It is a project of enlightenment, and just like any other project, the results we obtain are directly derived from the actions that precede them. In fact, we only achieve the objects of our desires. Our quest for a proper understanding of the human race goes through the various domains that characterize our educational systems around the world. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics etc., all permit us to perceive the human intellect from different perspectives. But it would appear that technological evolution, which has also played a key role in the emergence of the human society, has not been properly appraised; at least, this is the accusation put forward against human culture by French Philosopher, Gilbert Simondon. (Simondon: 1958). He thinks that technic has suffered prejudicial judgment from human culture, which has condemned it even before understanding its true mode of existence.[1] From his view point, the conflict that has emerged between man and the machine, or better still, between culture and technic is caused by a misunderstanding of the technical being. The goal of this paper is to find a point of agreement between man and the machines that characterize his daily life, in view of a better world.

It’s frightening to think that a computer may be taught or self-taught how to do spine or brain surgery. Ways of Establishing Religious Pluralism in Contemporary Age: An Analytical Study of Abrahamic Religions

Human being is endowed with intellect. The standard and domain of intellectual exposure are different and diverse. Consequently, it gives birth to diversity in opinions and perspective that eventually results in mutual disagreement. A deep assessment of the human life indicates the fact that diversity exist in almost all aspects of human life. The diversity of opinions, perspectives and narratives can be found with reference to culture and civilization, economy, entrepreneurship, modern scientific disciplines, politics and religion. The diversity is an indication of the evolution in human intellect. When the diversity is misunderstood as a negative connotation then it turns into conflict that results into incalculable and disastrous impacts on society. Pluralism plays a pivotal role in the evolution of diverse human society and multicultural civilization and a pluralistic society can tread the phases of socio-cultural development more conveniently and productively. If a society becomes an arena of religious intolerance, hatred and biasness then the fate of society becomes uncertain and bleak. It is need of the day to create awareness and pursue research studies regarding pluralism while keeping in view the golden traditions of Abrahamic religions. ENGLISH AND UZBEK BLESSINGS WHICH FORMED BY THE BELIEF OF MAGIC WORDS

Background. The article dealt with some common features of English and Uzbek folk blessing. First of all, it addresses the issue of the genesis of the word blessings in English and Uzbek literature. At the same time, analyzed the blessings which formed by the belief in the magic of words and compare the similarities and differences of their place in folklore and entry into the written literature. Methods. It addresses created by human intellect and preserving the attention and attitude of ancient people to the realities of life, traditions, rules of morality, which is common in the folklore of the English and Uzbek people, as well as in other nations of the world. Interestingly, despite the fact that these people live in different geographical conditions and speak different systematic languages, have different religious beliefs, there are some typological features among their blessings.
