ABSTRACT We measure the degree of linear polarization of comet 46P/Wirtanen during two months, embracing the perihelion passage in 2018 December with phase angles ranging from α = 18.1° to 46.4°. The polarimetric response PQ obtained resembles what was previously found in comet C/1975 V1 (West). This suggests 46P/Wirtanen belongs to a group of comets with high maximum positive polarization. In the first half of 2019 February, we conducted BVRI photometry of 46P/Wirtanen and found either neutral or blue colour of its dust, which is in good accordance with measurements of C/1975 V1 (West). While aperture-averaged polarimetry of 46P/Wirtanen reveals a nearly zero polarization PQ at the lowest phase angle α = 18.1°, simultaneous imaging polarimetry suggests that the negative polarization (PQ < 0) arises in a region of within 5000 km of the nucleus, where the negative polarization could be as strong as PQ = −(1.44 ± 0.15) per cent. This observation suggests the existence of the circumnucleus halo and that the coma is populated by at least two types of dust particles. One of those reveals a low positive polarization at side scattering and high negative polarization near backscattering. Both polarimetric features are simultaneously produced by weakly absorbing Mg-rich silicate particles. Another type of dust produces solely positive polarization that could be attributed to carbonaceous particles. This composition of 46P/Wirtanen coma appears to be similar with what was previously found in comet C/1975 V1 (West).

Prussian blue (PB) was synthesized using a wet chemistry method. A solid-state asymmetrical supercapacitor was fabricated with the configuration of (active carbon) /polymer electrolyte membrane/ (active carbon+PB). A KCl saturated Ag/AgCl reference electrode was inserted in the cell to monitor the potentials of the positive and negative electrodes during the charge/discharge process. The supercapacitor had a capacitor-like behavior. Upon negative polarization of the PB-containing electrode the specific capacitance was increased 100% while upon positive polarization, there was a much less enhancement of the specific capacitance. Upon negative polarization of the PB-containing electrode-initiated, significant degree of redox activity occurred due to reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+.

Context. The azimuthal polarization patterns observed in some protoplanetary disks by the Atacama Large Millimetre Array (ALMA) at millimeter wavelengths have raised doubts about whether they are truly produced by dust grains that are aligned with the magnetic field lines. These conclusions were based on the calculations of dust polarized emission in the Rayleigh regime, that is, for grain sizes that are much smaller than the wavelength. However, the grain size in such disks is typically estimated to be in the range of 0.1−1 mm from independent observations. Aims. We study the dust polarization properties of aligned grains in emission in the Mie regime, that is, when the mean grain size approaches the wavelength. Methods. By using the T-MATRIX and DustEM codes, we computed the spectral dependence of the polarization fraction in emission for grains in perfect spinning alignment for various grain size distributions. We restricted our study to weakly-elongated oblate and prolate grains of astrosilicate composition that have a mean size ranging from 10 μm to 1 mm. Results. In the submillimeter and millimeter wavelength range, the polarization by B-field aligned grains becomes negative for grains larger than ∼250 μm, meaning that the polarization vector becomes parallel to the B-field. The transition from the positive to the negative polarization occurs at a wavelength of λ ∼ 1 mm. The regime of negative polarization does not exist for grains that are smaller than ∼100 μm. Conclusions. When using realistic grain size distributions for disks with grains up to the submillimeter sizes, the polarization direction of thermal emission by aligned grains is shown to be parallel to the direction of the magnetic field over a significant fraction of the wavelengths typically used to observe young protoplanetary disks. This property may explain the peculiar azimuthal orientation of the polarization vectors in some of the disks observed with ALMA and attest to the conserved ability of dust polarized emission to trace the magnetic field in disks.

Resumo Este artigo se propõe a ampliar a metodologia perspectivista (MALINI, 2016) de análise de redes sociais, incorporando um procedimento de análise dos sentimentos das mensagens postadas em redes de controvérsias políticas, em particular, em dois momentos distintos da campanha pelo impeachment da presidenta Dilma. O primeiro é o período da eclosão das manifestações antipetistas, no dia 15 de março de 2015. O segundo, dia 27 de agosto de 2016, quando a presidenta é deposta do cargo. Realiza uma revisão sobre a análise de sentimentos em megadados do Twitter e constrói uma metodologia que combina classificação humana de textos com aplicação de algoritmos genéticos de análise de textos, no intuito de analisar sentimentos genéricos (baseado na polarização positivo/negativos) e sentimento específicos, baseados nas seguintes emoções: Alegria, Raiva, Medo, Antecipação, Desgosto, Tristeza, Surpresa e Confiança. Conclui demonstrando que os movimentos pró e anti-Dilma são marcados pelo predomínio de sentimento de raiva, medo e ansiedade, confirmando a hipótese que a trolagem ofensiva demarca o estilo da indignação propagada em redes políticas no Twitter brasileiro.  Palavras-Chave: Análise de Sentimento; Big Data; Redes; Política; Twitter.Abstract This article aims to expand the perspectivist methodology (Malini, 2016) of social networks analysis, incorporating a proceeding of sentiment analysis of the messages posted in networks of political controversies, in particular, in two distinct moments of the campaign for the impeachment of President Dilma. The first is the period of the outbreak of PT protests, on March 15, 2015. The second, on August 27, 2016, when the president is deposed. We will be doing a theoretical review about sentiment analysis in Big Data on Twitter to build a methodology that combines human classification of texts with the application of genetic algorithms of text analysis and to analyze generic sentiments (based on positive / negative polarization) and specific sentiment, based on emotions like Joy, Anger, Fear, Anticipation, Disgust, Sadness, Surprise and Trust. It concludes by demonstrating that pro and anti-Dilma movements are marked by a predominance of anger, fear and anxiety, confirming the hypothesis that an offensive trolling demarcates the style of indignation propagated by political networks in Brazilian Twitter.Keywords: Sentiment Analysis; Big Data; Social Network; Politics; Twitter.

The n-p-i-n AlGaN solar-blind ultraviolet double heterojunction phototransistor (DHPT) with internal gain is proposed and optimized in this paper. The dependences of spectral responsivity and quantum gain on structure parameters of the AlGaN DHPT are simulated in detail. Then, the polarization effect of AlGaN heterojunction on the performance of AlGaN DHPT is also investigated. Results show that positive polarization charge would enhance the photoresponse of the device, whereas the negative polarization charge would reduce the photoresponse significantly. The reasons for the polarization effect on performance of AlGaN DHPT are discussed.
