AbstractMetabolic syndrome is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. With improvement in therapy for HIV, morbidity related to metabolic syndrome becomes a focus of interest. Change in nutritional status and introduction of newer regimens of ART are changing the impact of metabolic syndrome on patients of HIV. Few studies in recent times from developing countries have addressed this question. This is a cross sectional study to study the prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome in patients of HIV on ART from clinics in a tertiary care hospital in India. Data from 1208 patients of HIV on ART was analyzed and metabolic syndrome was seen in 257(21.3%) patients. The high prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients of HIV in India found in this study gives an insight on the morbidity of noncommunicable diseases in patients with HIV in India in recent times.

The HIV epidemic is concentrated mainly among key groups, and people who inject drugs (PWID) have an important place among them. HIV incidence among PWID and the total Minsk population in 2010-2019 fluctuated within the range of 10.27 (2013)-160.76 (2015) cases per 1000 PWID and 9.63 (2012)—41.00 (2015) per 100 000 of Minsk population. Average long-term incidence rates were 51.61 per 1000 PWID and 22.42 per 100 000 of Minsk population, respectively. The analyzed time interval characterized by a long-term trend towards an increase in morbidity in both analyzed groups with an average growth rate of 17.25 % (p < 0.01) and 12.62 % (p < 0.05). There is a direct linear dependence between the HIV incidence in the total Minsk population and the HIV morbidity among PWID (R2 = 0.96, p < 0.01). The presence of autocorrelation in the data series (0.52 and 0.43, respectively) indicates a high potential effectiveness of prevention programs among PWID, which will affect the HIV incidence rates of the total Minsk population also.

Aim. To analyze the morbidity structure of infection caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-infection) in women in the Republic of Tatarstan during the period from 1996 to 2016. Methods. We conducted a retrospective epidemiological analysis of HIV-infection morbidity in women in the Republic of Tatarstan during the period from 1996 to 2016 with the evaluation of morbidity structure by age, transmission routes, social and family status. Statistical and graphic-analytical methods were used. Extensive morbidity rates of HIV-infection in women (18 years and older) were calculated. Results. In the Republic of Tatarstan during the period from 1996 to 2016 HIV-infection was diagnosed in 6815 women with increasing incidence from 0.1 to 30.2 cases per 100 000 women. The increase of the proportion of women older than 30 years in the morbidity structure was observed during this period. Comparative analysis of the parameters from 2001 and 2016 revealed a statistically significant increase of the proportion of married women from 37.5±2.5 to 46.2±2.2% (p

The pragmatic aspects of all steps involved in establishing an integrated psychiatry (and other mental health) care model in a HIV outpatient clinic are discussed in detail in this chapter. These include initial outreach inquiry, interdepartmental discussion, business case analysis, logistics in establishing clinical routines and operating relationships, utilization management, information technology, and research and educational opportunities specific to this model of collaborative care. The beneficial aspects of integrated care include increased engagement and retention in HIV care and decreased HIV morbidity and mortality. A biopsychosocial approach provides a model for compassionate and multidimensional care. Readers are encouraged to apply this framework within the parameters of their local institutions when establishing integrated psychiatric care models in HIV clinics.
