Based on geographical isolation, dual labor market and other factors, the development of China’s different regional economy has obvious characteristics of differentiation, which can be embodied in the phenomenon of “different salaries for the same work” and “different workers with the same salary”. In order to further analyze its influence, this paper analyzes the regional discrimination in the free labor market with the help of the multiple regression analysis model of regional wage and remuneration in economics, referring to the factors such as region, occupation, expenditure cost and labor market, and on the basis of studying the influence of labor market discrimination, wage difference and human resources on labor remuneration.

Regional discrimination is a significant social issue that leads to divided societies. In China, people from Henan Province, who are verbally abused by non-Henan users on the Internet, are often victims of regional discrimination. This article presents a case study of Chinese Internet users’ discriminatory practice against Henan people in the commentary sections of two major Chinese news portals – Tencent and NetEase. By advancing an affective critical discourse analysis approach with the assistance of content analysis, I analysed user comments on news reports that covered a news event relating to regional discrimination against Henan people. The analysis showed that Internet users’ discriminatory practice was notably amplified by the locative IP-address function in NetEase’s commentary section. The research findings shed light on the interplay between Internet users’ discursive practice and the technological architecture of interactive digital platforms in the context of regional discrimination.

Abstract This paper considers the process of the change in Chinese society—in which its people went from being regional to being migrant in urban communities—and recognizes urban transformation as being based on and an expression of cultural transformation. The transformation of urban communities accompanied the “migration era,” and China’s urban communities, in fact, have been gradually changing from a relatively closed regional society to a diverse and civilized migrant one. The diversification of migrants has caused many problems for cities during their transition, affecting such aspects of social life as the equal enjoyment of public resources, the changes in family and kinship, regional discrimination, the complexity of interpersonal and ethnic relations, etc. The related topics are worthy of further discussion.

The Rare Earth Element (REE) mineralizations are not so “rare” in Sweden. They normally occur associated and hosted within granitic crystalline bedrock, and in mineral deposits together with other base and trace metals. Major REE-bearing mineral deposit types are the apatite-iron oxide mineralizations in Norrbotten (e.g., Kiruna) and Bergslagen (e.g., Grängesberg) ore regions, the various skarn deposits in Bergslagen (e.g., Riddarhyttan-Norberg belt), hydrothermal deposits (e.g., Olserum, Bastnäs) and alkaline-carbonatite intrusions such as the Norra Kärr complex and Alnö. In this study, analytical data of samples collected from REE mineralizations during the EURARE project are compared with bedrock and till REE geochemistry, both sourced from databases available at the Geological Survey of Sweden. The positive correlation between REE composition in the three geochemical data groups allows better understanding of REE distribution in Sweden, their regional discrimination, and genetic classification. Data provides complementary information about correlation of LREE and HREE in till with REE content in bedrock and mineralization. Application of principal component analysis enables classification of REE mineralizations in relation to their host. These results are useful in the assessment of REE mineral potential in areas where REE mineralizations are poorly explored or even undiscovered.

For 15 years after its inception, Italy was governed by the Historical Right coalition. The electoral franchise was very limited: registered voters were less than 2 per cent of the population and their actual numbers were further eroded by absenteeism. The achievements of the first governments were impressive, though one can disagree on the merit of the policies, as many did. Most of the policies imposed a lot of hardship: individuals had to pay high taxes; they were drafted into the army for long periods; and they were sent to fight civil and regular wars. The very limited access to the vote led the ruling class to perceive that, in the short term, its actions were insulated against the unpopularity of its policies. Therefore, it pursued the mission of aggrandising the country and creating what it believed to be a viable and modern government system. The regional allocation of budget resources became the most disputed issue as the government coalition was accused of discriminating against southern regions. The article explores these themes empirically by constructing the so-called balance sheet of federations, leading to an estimate for each region of the net impact (the fiscal residuum) of national government tax and expenditure policies. The article also provides an estimate of the impact of tax and expenditure policies on poor agricultural families located in different areas. Both statistical exercises provide an original, though limited, contribution to the literature on the economic and social impact of the unification process in Italy. The analyses reveal that no redistribution was made, and regional discrimination did not emerge.
