This study aims to provide a unified analysis of the syntax-pragmatics interface of the (allegedly) anomalous licensing of the perfective present (PresPF) in BCS present-tensed main clauses. Although PresPF forms cannot usually refer to eventualities that are anchored to the time of utterance UT, there seem to be three apparent exceptions to this structural constraint. They are as follows: 1) abusive metonymic performatives; 2) live demonstrations; and 3) nonveridical contexts introduced by the epistemic operator možda ‘maybe’. It is claimed that for PresPF forms to be licensed in BCS main clauses, control needs to be specified as a variable at the level of the so-called Seat of Knowledge in the SpeechActP layer.

Theories of out-group hostility have long held that attitudes about marginalized groups are important predictors of policy support. These theories, however, have mostly examined the attitudes of white people and sexual orientation has rarely been a category of analysis. Thus, we know less about whether these theories are conditional on group position in racial and sexual hierarchies. This paper argues that processes of marginalization shape out-group hostility. Using comparative relational analysis, I examine support for pro-minority policies among white lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) people, straight people of color and whites. I find that ethnocentrism is not a general predictor of out-group hostility among the members of marginalized groups. Alternatively, group-targeted homophobia, racism, and nativism predict opposition to pro-minority policies, but the members of marginalized groups have more egalitarian attitudes overall. These findings challenge long-held conventional wisdoms about prejudice, underscoring the importance of centering on marginalized groups in public opinion.

Abstract This paper presents a consistent analytic kinematic formulation of the 3-PRS parallel manipulator (PM) with a parasitic motion by embedding the velocity level structural constraint equation into the motion expression. Inverse rate kinematics (IRK) is solved with a simple constraint compatible velocity profile, which is obtained by projecting the instantaneous restriction space onto the motion space. Moreover, the systematic method to reveal the parasitic motion is introduced. Thus, the parasitic terms are automatically identified from the main motions. Unlike the usual approach, this study does not consider any explicit parasitic motion expression. Consequently, the derivation of constraint compatible input velocity, which comprises the parasitic term, is simplified. To incorporate the parasitic motion into the task velocity, constraint Jacobian of the manipulator is analytically obtained first. The manipulator Jacobian is extended to incorporate the passive joint’s information apart from the active joints and structural constraint. Hence, the dimension of the Jacobian matrix used to solve IRK is 9 × 6. The validity of the IRK is proved by the Bordered Gramian based forward rate kinematics (FRK). Then, an accurate numerical integration, RK4, is applied to the joint velocity of IRK to obtain the manipulator’s joint values. Consequently, the moving plate’s pose is obtained via forward position kinematics computed using integrated active and passive joint values for validation. The projection matrix used to get compatible constraint motion adjusts our input velocity and makes it compatible with the structural constraint policy, and the parasitic motion is embedded easily. Thus, an explicit formulation of the parasitic motion equation is not required, as the usual practice. Finally, the study presented numerical simulations to show the validity of the outlined resolutions. This paper’s result and analysis can be uniformly applied to other parallel manipulators with less than 6 DoFs.

Researchers on the neural correlates of consciousness (NCC) need to distinguish mere statisticalNCCs from NCCs proper. Some neural events may be co-occurrent, probabilistically coupled,or coincidental with a type of conscious experience but lack any deeper connection to it, whilein other cases, the relation between neural states and a type of experience hints at a strongmetaphysical relation, which distinguishes such NCCs proper from mere statistical NCCs. In orderto address this issue of how to distinguish NCCs proper from mere statistical NCCs, we proposea position we call neurophenomenal structuralism. The position hinges on the uncontroversialidea that phenomenal experiences relate to each other in degrees of similarity and difference.These complex structures are used to identify and individuate experiences in the methods ofneuroscience, psychophysics, and phenomenology. Such individuation by structure leads to phenomenalholism, which has implications for how to investigate consciousness neuroscientificallyand generates a constraint by which we can distinguish NCCs proper from mere statistical NCCs:the structural similarity constraint. Neural activation must preserve the structure governing thedomain of experiences it is associated with in order to count as that domain’s NCC proper. Anyactivation that fails to preserve phenomenal structure fails to be an NCC proper. We illustratehow this constraint works with a study by Brouwer & Heeger (2009) as an example.

Since the original description in 1996, the interaction between the cytokine osteopontin (OPN) and the homing receptor CD44 has been extensively studied in cancer, inflammation, bone remodeling, and various other conditions. Alternative splicing and extensive posttranslational modifications by both binding partners, as well as the possibility for lateral recruitment of additional membrane receptors or soluble co-ligands into a complex have left the exact molecular requirements for high-affinity OPN-CD44 binding unresolved. We now report that there is a moderate engagement between the unmodified molecules, which results in curved double-reciprocal plots for OPN titration, suggesting the existence of two binding sites or two binding conformations. Structural constraint of OPN, by immobilization or by addition of heparin, is required for its strong ligation of CD44. Prior literature provides evidence that heparin binding to OPN prompts the unfolding of a core element in the protein. This conformational adjustment may be essential for efficient CD44 interaction. The integrin α9β1 seems to compete with the OPN-CD44 engagement, while the integrin αVβ3 reflects additive binding, suggesting that the CD44 contact sites on OPN are downstream of the RGD motif but overlap with the SVVYGLR domain. Hyaluronate has no effect, placing the relevant domain on CD44 downstream of the N-terminus.

The purpose of this study was to describe and identify various constraints of participating in outdoor recreation activities among female students of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Perlis. This study examined on the structural and intrapersonal factors. 150 respondents selected convenience at UiTM Perlis. The respondents were based on their education level, 75 for diploma and 75 for bachelor. Result showed that the highest mean for structural constraint was economic (M = 2.67) where else the highest mean for intrapersonal constraint was physical (M = 2.17). This finding also showed that there was no significance differences for structural constraints based on education level but there were significance differences for intrapersonal constraints based on education level: ‘Motivation’ (t =-7.03, p < 0.05), ‘Psychological’ (t = -6.31, p < 0.05) and ‘Physical’ (t = -4.77, p < 0.05) respectively. In conclusion this study expected to enhance as guide to the related parties concerned for overcoming the structural and intrapersonal constraints that influenced participating of recreational activities among female students specifically in UiTM Perlis. Hence, this study provided valuable factors that contributed as constraints among females as scope of interest to University and Ministry Youth and Sport in the future recreational phenomena of constraints to females participating in outdoor recreation activities as a whole nationwide.
