The step-scan technique in Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy is employed in new applications of time resolved spectroscopy (TRS). Results are demonstrated on time-resolved laser emissions and photolytically generated chemical reactions using both emission and absorption modes. New achievements in FT-IR temporal resolution are demonstrated, as well as the complementary nature of step-scan and rapid-scan time-resolved spectroscopy.

An important limitation in the photocurrent of solar cells sensitized with Ru dyes and filled with cobalt electrolyte is electron recombination between titania conduction band (CB) and oxidized dyes, which occurs on the sub-ns time scale.

This work investigates the energy transfer from Ce3+ to Mn2+ in high transmission glass (HTG) doped with CeO2 and MnO through time-resolved spectroscopy to transform the solar spectrum into a more efficient red-enhanced spectrum for traditional Si-based solar cells.

We show via time resolved spectroscopy that triplet formation proceeds via intersystem crossing in a rigid-bridged perylene diimide trimer and via efficient and fast intramolecular singlet exciton fission in the analogous flexible-bridged trimer.
