Abstract A relatively simple technique has been described which allows observation of the deformation zone at tear tips in rubber specimens. Investigation of various rubbers revealed qualitative information about the type of yielding that occurs in the deformation zone under different conditions. The initial appearance of the tear tip in nitrile, polybutadiene (both with and without carbon filler), and natural rubber suggests a process of stretching followed by rupture and then relaxation onto the tear walls. Only in the case of a fluoro-elastomer was there evidence of cavitation, although microcavitation (of sizes ≪1 µm) may be occurring in the other rubbers at much higher magnification. On the other hand, aging in laboratory air had the dramatic effect of producing fibrous and nodular networks in the tear tip material of all the rubbers except the fluoroelastomer. In the first few hours, the network structure developed as cavities (Figure 9), but after 24 h the network was fully developed across the tear. The aging process is very likely an ozone attack not only on the rubber under stress at the tear tip, but also on the rubber on the tear wall. It is quite possible that there were residual stresses in the material on the wall which facilitated attack. Chain scission appeared to be allowing the rubber to relax by viscous flow under the action of surface forces. These results point up the need to distinguish between failure controlled by pure stress and failure assisted by oxidation/ozonolysis in studies of slow tear growth in rubbers. The SEM technique also provides information about fillers. Their elemental composition can be determined by XES, and some qualitative information can be gained about their adhesion to the matrix and their effect on tear tip yielding.

Nowadays, a large number of information can not be reached by the reader because of the misclassification of text-based documents. The misclassified data can also make the readers obtain the wrong information. The method which is proposed by this paper is aiming to classify the documents into the correct group.  Each document will have a membership value in several different classes. The method will be used to find the degree of similarity between the two documents is the semantic similarity. In fact, there is no document that doesn’t have a relationship with the other but their relationship might be close to 0. This method calculates the similarity between two documents by taking into account the level of similarity of words and their synonyms. After all inter-document similarity values obtained, a matrix will be created. The matrix is then used as a semi-supervised factor. The output of this method is the value of the membership of each document, which must be one of the greatest membership value for each document which indicates where the documents are grouped. Classification result computed by the method shows a good value which is 90 %. Index Terms - Fuzzy co-clustering, Heuristic, Semantica Similiarity, Semi-supervised learning.

The literature on the ultrastructural morphology of the enamel matrix and its relationship to the crystals is reviewed. Two morphological entities of the matrix are discussed: One is the so-called stippled material which may be the initial cell product; the other, variously described as fibrillar, lamellar, tubular or helical, is thought by many to play a crucial role in nucleation and orientation of the crystals. A number of observations, however, suggest that the latter structures form secondarily to the crystals and that in reality they represent organic material adsorbed to the crystal surface and maintained as independent structures upon removal of the mineral. The need for additional studies is stressed including systematic studies of interactions between constituents of the organic matrix and the apatite crystals.

Axisymmetric deformation of anisotropic porous materials caused by geometry of pores or by distribution of pores is analyzed. Two models of the materials are proposed: one consists of spherical cells each of which has a concentric ellipsoidal pore; and the other consists of ellipsoidal cells each of which has a concentric spherical pore. The velocity field in the matrix is assumed and the upper bound approach is attempted. Yield criteria are expressed as ellipses on the σm σ3 plane which are longer in longitudinal direction with increasing anisotropy and smaller with increasing volume fraction of the pore. Furthermore, the axes rotate about the origin at an angle α from the σm-axis, while the axis for isotropic porous materials is on the σm-axis.

In this article, I will focus on highly conflictual couples with extensive emotional deprivation and unresolved trauma, which prevents them from developing healthy romantic relationships and overcoming the challenges entailed in any intimate attachment. I will describe how everyday interactions are experienced as threatening or even lethal movements between the partners. The question which arises in the psychoanalytical therapeutic process is how to help the couple tolerate the sensory reminders of the unresolved trauma as a necessary precursor to any process of symbolisation. In order to provide a safe enough therapeutic attachment bond, extensive time is dedicated to the emotional experience of self and the other in the here-and-now of the session, which validates the emotional experience of the couple as well as contains it. The therapy focuses on the transferential and countertransferential movements inspired by the matrix of the victim, abuser, and uninvolved witness (Davies & Frawley, 1994) to elaborate the intertwining of the unresolved trauma with the couple’s form of attachment. In order to illustrate my argument, I present two examples: one from a fictional narration and another from my clinical work.

Abstract Concise equations for rotor dynamics analysis are presented. Two coordinate ordering methods are introduced in the element equations of motion. One is in the real domain and the other is in the complex domain. The two proposed ordering algorithms lead to more compact element matrices. A station numbering technique is also proposed for the system equations during the assembly process. This numbering technique can minimize the matrix bandwidth, the memory storage and can increase the computational efficiency.

Jonathan Swift said, ‘Every man desires to live long, but no man wishes to be old’. Most of us have ambivalent feelings about aging. We may want a long life, but those extra years hold less appeal if we are too ill to enjoy them. At one extreme of the aging trajectory are those who become frail, immobile and dependent in their 5th or 6th decade. At the other extreme are those who live to 100 or beyond remaining cognitively intact, active and engaged in their communities. We wonder what causes underlie this diversity in the aging process? Why do some of us age well and others poorly? The immune system plays a central role in health in our later years.

At the end of XX century, the old age theme has been approached due to concern of the society with the quality of man’s life in the aging process and the fact of seniors correspond to a growing representative portion of the population in the quantitative point of view. So the aging changes in a problem that wins expressiveness and legitimacy in the field of the daily current concerns. This article intends to demonstrate that the work can articulate other life projects for the seniors and to avoid psychic pathologies in the old age that can appear due to the loss of personal identity, to the involvement lack in motivated activities or starting from the adoption of inadequate consumption ways or lifestyles. For this, this article assumes a line of preventive character explanation under two slopes: the first refers to the fact that, if the work ennobles the man, he must acquire or improve this individual competences, adapting them to the new demands of the job market to get a job, or even to reactivate his professional life because new life projects. The second slope follows the direction of the discovery of the seniors’ potentialities for the companies, which can adapt the qualities [and limitations] of this workers category to the various functions in the organization. The Brazilian entrepreneur needs to be attentive to the image of his company and the differential competitive that can distinguish it of the other companies. And this can be to employee senior people or to maintenance it in the company personnel staff.

A 216-item inventory was administered to 252 Ss in an attempt further to clarify the personality factor of Dependence. 42 groups of homogeneous items were used to measure previously identified factors of Shyness, Empathy, Neuroticism, Compulsion, and Hostility, in addition to Dependence. Total scores were obtained for each item group and the matrix of intercorrelations was factor analyzed. 7 major factors were obtained. Dependence emerged as 2 factors, named Socialization and Dependence; each was well-defined by 5 item groups with loadings greater than .48. The other 5 personality factors under investigation appeared as predicted.

Based on classic theory of beams and certain modifications, a simple technique is derived in order to obtain an approximate value of the maximum bending moment in a rotationally symmetric circular plate with a variable thickness. It is assumed that one of the two concentric boundaries of the plate is clamped, and the other is free. Numerical examples for both cases of constant and variable thickness plates subject to uniform pressure or rim line loading are presented.

Previous studies have demonstrated the presence of type II collagen (in mature chickens predominantly a ‘cartilage-specific’ collagen) in a variety of embryonic extracellular matrices that separate epithelia from mesenchyme. In an immunohistochemical study using collagen type-specific monoclonal antibodies, we asked whether type IX collagen, another ‘cartilage-specific’ collagen, is coexpressed along with type II at such interfaces. We confirmed that, in the matrix underlying a variety of cranial ectodermal derivatives and along the ventrolateral surfaces of neuroepithelia, type II collagen is codistributed with collagen types I and IV. Type IX collagen, however, was undetectable at those sites. We observed immunoreactivity for type IX collagen only within the notochordal sheath, where it first appeared at a later stage than did collagen types I and II. We also observed type II collagen (without type IX) beneath the dorsolateral ectoderm at stage 16; this correlates with the period during which limb ectoderm has been reported to induce the mesoderm to become chondrogenic. Finally, in older hind limbs we observed subepithelial type II collagen that was not associated with subsequent chondrogenesis, but appeared to parallel the formation of feathers and scales in the developing limb. These observations suggest that the deposition of collagen types II and IX into interfacial matrices is regulated independently, and that induction of mesenchymal chondrogenesis by such matrices does not involve type IX collagen. Subepithelial type IX collagen deposition, on the other hand, correlates with the assembly of a thick multilaminar fibrillar matrix, as present in the notochordal sheath and, as shown previously, in the corneal primary stroma.
