Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of headteachers’ involvement of female teachers on girls’ access to primary education in Garissa Sub-County, Garissa County, Kenya. The study was guided by the Management Practices and Pearson’s Gender Relations Theories. Methodology: The study adopted mixed methodology and descriptive survey research design. Data analysis began by identifying common themes. The target population comprised of 28 headteachers, 302 teachers, 873 girls in classes VII & VIII and three (3) Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) totaling to 1206 from which 300 respondents were determined using Yamane’s Formula. Stratified sampling was used to create three strata based on the number of zones in Garissa Sub-County. From each zone, four headteachers and 56 teachers were selected using simple random sampling to avoid bias. The procedures adopted enabled the researcher to sample 12 headteachers, 168 teachers, 117 girls in classes VII & VIII and three (3) CSOs. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically along the objectives and presented in narrative forms. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages and inferentially using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Version 23) and presented using tables. Findings: The study established that headteachers’ management practices such as involvement of female teachers influence the number of girls who are enrolled into primary schools. Unique Contribution to Theory, Policy and Practice: Thus, the study recommends that the Ministry of Education should recruit and work with female teachers to enhance girls’ access to primary education and to inform future policy development.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of inaccessibility of sanitary pads on the academic performance of girls in primary schools in Njoro Sub-County. The survey targeted girls in primary schools in Njoro sub-county. Primary school girls do not do well in academic performance and also do not participate fully in school activities, and so the study sought to find out the causes for this. A descriptive survey design was applied in the study. Questionnaires and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) were used to collect data from the girls and female teachers. The target population was 4595 class 6-8 girls in Njoro Sub –County and 858 female teachers. A sample of 101 girls was selected for the study using simple random sampling to pick the specific girls. 87 Female teachers were sampled using purposive sampling. The data was analysed through descriptive statistics, tables and charts were also used for presentation. The conclusion was drawn from the findings and recommendation for further research was made.

From 2017, the government of Kenya aimed at attaining 100 percent transition rate of pupils from primary to secondary schools. In Laikipia West Sub-County whose primary schools are focused by the study, transition from primary to secondary schools averaged at 54.9% from 2008 to 2015. Cultural factors are highlighted in literature as to undermine transition of pupils from primary to secondary schools. The purpose of the study was to determine the extent to which cultural factors influence pupils’ transition from primary to secondary schools in Laikipia West Sub-county in Kenya. Using ex-post facto research design, data was collected using self-delivered questionnaire from a target population of 1064 respondents. The study was carried out on a randomly sampled population of 411 respondents, composed of 280 teachers and 131 PTA chairpersons in public primary schools in the area of study. Data was analyzed using simple regression at .05 alpha level. Findings from the study revealed that cultural factors were significantly influencing transition of pupils from primary to secondary schools (β= - .790) at 0.5 significance level. The study recommended that local leaders should organize for civic education in order to address the identified transition challenges so as to attain a 100% rate of progression to secondary schools.

The launch of the Free Primary Education (FPE) in 2003 by the Kenyan government lead to an increase in enrolment of learners in primary schools which posed a challenge to the teacher preparation of handling large number of learners. This paper therefore discusses teacher preparedness with reference to FPE in Bungoma East District in Kenya. A descriptive survey design was used in this study. The target population was head teachers, teachers and the school management committee chair persons. Since there are rural and urban schools, stratified sampling was done to get a more representative sample. Instruments for data collection were questionnaires, interview schedule, and document analysis and observation schedules. Most teachers feel inadequate in handling challenges of FPE on resource utilization due to inadequate in-service programmes. The findings will inform the policy makers in making informed decisions towards proper teacher preparation for FPE implementation.

This study evaluates the factors influencing examination cheating behaviors by consumers of post-primary education in Enugu, Nigeria. The study objectives were to; determine whether the gender of consumers of post-primary education has a significant influence on the incidence of examination cheating behaviors in post-primary schools in Enugu, Nigeria, and; ascertain the significant causes of examination cheating behaviors among consumers of post-primary education in Enugu, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive research design. Examiners of external and internal examinations in post-primary schools in Enugu, Nigeria were the target population for the study. A sample size of 246 was chosen from this population. A structured questionnaire was the instrument for data collection, while the t-test was used for the hypotheses tests at 5% level of significance. The hypotheses tests revealed that; gender of consumers of post-primary education has no significant influence on the incidence of examination cheating behaviours in post-primary primary schools in Enugu, Nigeria and; inadequate preparation, environmental influence and poor infrastructure in schools are the significant causes of examination cheating behaviors among consumers of post-primary education in Enugu, Nigeria. Following the findings, the study concludes that though male consumers of educational services have a higher tendency of engaging in examination cheating behaviors than female consumers of educational services in Enugu, Nigeria. This influence of gender has been shown to be insignificant. Also, examination cheating behaviors among consumers of educational services in Enugu, Nigeria are caused by a combination of personal attributes of the consumers and group/societal influences.

The study sought to determine challenges to food security among households of CBOs implementing agroforestry in Rongai Sub County in Nakuru and mitigation factors. The study was anchored on the systems theory and employed a mixed research methods design with simple random sampling used to get the CBOs from which the respondents were drawn. The target population was 630 members of all forty-seven (47) CBOs implementing agroforestry in the study area. The sample size was 245 respondents selected using the proportionate random sampling method. Questionnaires comprising of both open-ended and closed-ended questions were used to collect the data. From the study, the food produced by the households is insufficient and has to be supplemented by those outside the households. The food produced is of quality controlled by factors including farm management practices and capital availability for production. There is food inaccessibility as those produced are a source of income for the households yet insufficient. However, there is an improvement compared to previous years. The households’ food production is unstable as shown by variations in production and insufficiency of the food. Food security is challenged by the failure of all members of CBOs to take part in decision-making processes, reporting, roles, and responsibilities not being assigned appropriately. Mitigation factors are hardly employed by the CBOs to curb the challenges faced in implementing agroforestry. The study recommends building the capacity of CBOs implementing agroforestry in areas of resource mobilization, empowering them to harmonize governance processes, developing and implementing an M&E framework. It also recommends the development and implementation of sound policies that promote agroforestry expansion

Purpose: Assess the knowledge and attitude towards the nurses in the clinical practices to identify the level of awareness of nurses and improve their practice to minimize and prevent the risk of complications, as well as to improve patient outcomes. Methodology: The cross sectional descriptive study design was used in the research. Target population was the staff nurses of the Govt hospital Lahore. The inclusion criteria was cardiac surgery ICU nurses in the hospital Lahore expressed the willingness of participation for this study were included after taking the consent. The sample size of the study was 100 nurses Results: The study showed variations in the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses, most of which reflected in their nursing practice their knowledge between the poor and the average. Many nurses have not been aware of the suggested practice and amounts have shown possibly of practice. The research also raised concern about all aspects of Nursing Diagnosis and highlighted the criteria for practice improvements and developed body of knowledge. Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: The study recommended the need for extensive improvements in the knowledge and practice of nurses by using the nursing diagnosis in the clinical for each nurse., It is the duty of nurses to develop a body of knowledge in their field of work, to promote the growth and personal development of local practice, to recognize knowledge gaps, to pursue appropriate training and resources, and to base all practice on facts.

Purpose: The goal of the study was to examine the influence of inventory management on performance of private commercial banks in Kenya, with an aim of making recommendations on proper use of inventory management practices.Methodology: This research study adopted a descriptive research design approach. The researcher preferred this method because it allowed an in-depth study of the subject. The target population was all the 220 procurement officers in the private commercial banks in Kenya. From the three strata, a sample of 142 respondents was selected using simple random sampling. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires. The data collected was analyzed by use of descriptive and inferential statistics. Multiple regression model was used to show the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variables.Results: In regard to information technology, the regression coefficients of the study show that it has a significant influence of 0.752 on performance of private commercial banks. Second in regard to warehouse management system, the regression coefficients of the study show that it has a significant influence of 0.156 on performance of private commercial banks.With regard to the third objective, the regression coefficients of the study show inventory cycle counting has a significant influence of 0.06 on performance of private commercial banks. Lastly, in regard to the fourth objective, the regression coefficients of the study show warehousing management system  has a significant influence of 0.02 on performance of private commercial banks.Conclusion: The findings of the study concluded that information technology, inventory control techniques, inventory cycle counting and warehousing management system have a positive relationship with performance in private commercial banks.Policy recommendation: the study recommended that private institutions should embrace inventory management practices so as to improve their performance and further researches should to be carried out in other private institutions to find out if the same results can be obtained.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the extent to which selected personals factors contributed to pupils’ low progression in primary schools in Trans-Nzoia West Sub-County. The study adopted ex-post facto research design. The target population was 1815 teachers and 91 head teachers from 91 public primary schools. Data was collected from a sample of 313 teachers and 73 head teachers through self-administered questionnaires and data collection form respectively. Proportionate, stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the subjects. Construct validity of the instruments was confirmed through piloting of the study. The teachers’ questionnaires were piloted in 5 schools in Bungoma North Sub- County and their reliabilities established after testing using the internal consistency method and Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.92 was realized. The instruments were deemed reliable as their reliability coefficients were above 0.7 threshhold recommended for social sciences research. Data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. Data was described and summarized using frequencies and percentages while hypotheses were tested at the .05 level of significance and using simple regression analysis. The results reveal that Personal factors influence progression of pupils in public primary school. The results of the study may inform the Ministry of Education, Boards of Management, parents and teachers in Trans-Nzoia West Sub-County and the country at large on factors to be addressed to enhance pupils` progression in public primary schools in the sub-county.

Purpose: The general objective of the study is to assess the factors influencing the rate of vocation to be a brother in Holy Cross Congregation in East Africa. The objectives that guided the study are; to explore how social status influence vocation to be a brother; to examine how the factor of being a clerical congregation may be influencing vocation to a brother; to determine how the need for professional career satisfaction influences vocation to be a brother, to  investigate how different motivations influences vocation to be a brother and  to identify possible ways of responding to challenges of vocation to be a brother in Holy Cross Congregation in East Africa. Methodology: The study used convergent parallel approach to the mixed methods research design. The target population in this study is107 and used Total Population Sampling to study the 107 respondents. The study used interview guide and self-administered questionnaire for data collection. The quantitative data will be coded and analyzed systematically and presented using figure, percentages and chats. The qualitative data was analyzed according to the emerging themes and the results of both the quantitative and qualitative findings were compared to draw out their significance for the study. Findings: The study established that social status, lack of awareness and perception that clerical vocation is more prestigious and glamorous than that of brotherhood are some of the factors affecting reduced vocations in brotherhood. Unique contribution to theory, policy, and practice: The study recommends the need for a rigorous promotion of brotherhood vocations, training of brothers as professionals, uplift the status of brothers and put in place proper discernment of vocations to reduce the high rate of brothers’ turnover

Purpose: This study sought to assess Awareness and use of environmental information resources to promote environmental protection & conservation at Kenya National Library Service Methodology: The study adopted descriptive research design. Simple random sampling was used to select a sample size of 105 respondents from a total target population of 550 staff members. In addition the five heads of department were interviewed. Data was collected and later analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. Frequency count and percentages were used to analyze the data collected.   Results: Findings revealed that the level of awareness on environmental information resources is low since the KNLS library staff has not implemented methods of awareness creation to users. The environmental information resources in Kenya National Library Service are not located at a specific place but integrated with the rest of the library collection thus hard to locate with ease. The challenges faced by Kenya National Library Services staff in disseminating environmental information resources to the users. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: Libraries and relevant environmental institutions need to create awareness on environmental information resources, conduct staff training, and evaluation of environmental information resources so as to access the level of quality and value to the library users.
