The paper presents new knowledge and experience from numerical modelling of macrosegregation in heavy steel ingot using ProCAST software. The main aim of numerical modelling realized under the conditions of the Department of Metallurgy and Foundry and Regional Materials Science and Technology Centre at VSB-TU Ostrava is the optimization of the production of heavy steel ingots produced in V´ITKOVICE HEAVY MACHINERY a.s. Input parameters of computation were determined by the real conditions of parallel experimental casting of a 90-ton steel ingot. The input data were also verified by thermal analysis and thermography measurement. The numerical results of macrosegregation were compared with the chemical analysis evaluated in a real ingot section. According to the comparison, attention will be focused next on determination of the effect of boundary conditions of filling and solidification of the ingot on the size of macrosegregation.

The relevance of the study is due to the important role played by small and individual entrepreneurship in the vast majority of modern national economies. The aim of the study is to assess the indicators describing the ratio of voluntary, highly demanding and necessity-driven entrepreneurs in the total number of start-ups. The results of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor project for 2018 were used as input data. Modeling of empirical data and evaluation of differentiation of the considered parameters was based on the development of normal distribution density functions. According to the results of modeling average values and change intervals of specific indicators were established. The originality of the work is associated with the assessment of the share of voluntary, highly demanding and necessity-driven entrepreneurs in the total number of early-stage entrepreneurs in 48 countries. The novelty of the study is due to the assessment of indicators characterizing the current motivation of entrepreneurs, as well as the ratio of the above mentioned indicators. The results of the study can be used in the formation of an entrepreneurial climate aimed at the development of a highly demanding business.

Today universities become drivers of technology and business development all over the world. Besides fulfilling traditional tasks of creating new knowledge and competence, higher education institutions play a significant role in developing innovative ecosystems and entrepreneurship. In Russia, however, the interaction of universities and business is forming not as quickly as in developed economies. This article uses qualitative interviews and case analysis to identify and discuss the barriers to effective university-enterprise interaction in Russia. The research is based on expert interviews with representatives of universities and businesses, as well as on the case study of PJSC «LUKOIL» and HEIs interaction. The study showed that the development of university-enterprise interaction meets several barriers rooted in the mismatch of both sides’ expectations of each other. The results of the research also show promising directions for university-business cooperation in Russia.

Today’s level of the information technology development allows gathering of large amount of data relevant for a company. The issue of way and method of data gathering has been solved, however, at the same time the need also arises for extraction of the most important ones, since the quantity of the input data itself is not enough. In the contemporary business activities, being pursued in the circumstances of high competition, changes, speed and risk, management of the company may be compared to driving a fast car. Therefore, the information tables - dashboards have been created for the purpose of data processing as an analogy to the car dashboard, which, by means of several indicators, provides for the driver an instant insight into various data related to driving and the engine running. Display of the data in the form of charts and diagrams undoubtedly helps in obtaining new knowledge however, an individual visual displaying is seldom sufficient thus they should be combined in different variants. The work presents concrete examples of the dashboards creation both locally and globally.

In any country in the world, the importance of small business development is great in establishing a stable economic and political environment. Small business is recognized as a guarantor of employment, revenues growth and social stability. In the development of small business, the state's particular interest lies in it's socioeconomic role. Solving problems in a small business is the same as sustained economic development. Development of small business has a special role in the regions of Georgia. Today an important issues are resolved for the development of entrepreneurship. "Rules of the game" of small business are relatively acceptable and stable. An administrative barriers ar fewer. Nevertheless there are still a number of problems in a small business development today. Many institutions of market infrastructure are not fully accessible to small entrepreneurs yet. Anty-monopoly activities are not enough. We don't have different approaches in small business policy by region specifics. The main problem of small entrepreneur is finances , expensive bank loans, which significantly interrupts start-up and development of new business.

Epistemology is the main branch of philosophy that studies the nature of knowledge, but how is new knowledge created? In this perspective article, I introduce a novel method of knowledge discovery that synthesizes online findings from current and prior research. This web-based knowledge synthesis method is especially relevant in today’s information technology environment, where the research community has easy access to online interactive tools and an expansive selection of digitized peer-reviewed literature. Based on a grounded theory methodology, the innovative synthesis method presented here can be used to organize, analyze and combine concepts from an intermixed selection of quantitative and qualitative research, inferring an emerging theory or thesis of new knowledge. Novel relationships are formed when synthesizing causal theories—accordingly, this article reviews basic logical principles of associative relationships, mediators and causal pathways inferred in knowledge synthesis. I also provide specific examples from my own knowledge syntheses in the field of epidemiology. The application of this web-based knowledge synthesis method, and its unique potential to discover breakthrough knowledge, will be of interest to researchers in other areas, such as education, health, humanities, and the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Abstract: The Covid-19 Movement Control Order imposed by the government converted the delivery of lessons to online learning in the education sector. Pharmaceutical chemistry is a core subject for pharmacy students and first-year students were taught the elucidation of the absolute configuration of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).  The objective of this study is to investigate the pharmacy students’ perceptions and performance on learning new knowledge related to the concept of absolute configuration on API through micro-learning.  Students were introduced and assessed on the stereochemistry of new terminologies through micro-learning activities.  Various 3D molecular model capture in video format was uploaded on YouTube(YT) and embedded in the Google Form(GF) online assessment.  The students’ video navigation was captured with YT video analytics, students learning performance was through GF quiz assessment responses, and the student’s attitudes through questionnaire survey.  In conclusion, the performance of student pharmacists in learning and applying new knowledge delivered through online distance micro-learning was comparable to face-to-face active learning.  Both YT video analytics and GF responses allowed real-time monitoring and interventions.  Nonetheless, students required more time to learn new knowledge online compared to face-to-face active learning. In conclusion, the designed virtual micro-learning enabled students to learn bite-sized new knowledge while training their spatial ability through the application of 3D molecular models with reinforcement through quizzes. The virtual micro-learning design is practical and economical without much technological investment or training for both the educator and learner with easy access in an open distance learning environment and post-Covid.   Keywords: Absolute configuration, Analytics, Micro-learning, Online assessment, Video

An unambiguous analysis of transmission electron diffraction effects requires two samplings of the reciprocal lattice (RL). However, extracting definitive information from the patterns is difficult even for a general orthorhombic case. The usual procedure has been to deduce the approximate variables controlling the formation of the patterns from qualitative observations. Our present purpose is to illustrate two applications of a computer programme written for the analysis of transmission, selected area diffraction (SAD) patterns; the studies of RL spot shapes and epitaxy. When a specimen contains fine structure the RL spots become complex shapes with extensions in one or more directions. If the number and directions of these extensions can be estimated from an SAD pattern the exact spot shape can be determined by a series of refinements of the computer input data.
