Analyzing the influence of social media on the learning process is no longer a novel idea; however, due to its importance for students and consequently for teachers, research continues to explore the pedagogical potential of social media. The main objective of the present study was to analyze the influence of teacher roles (guide or facilitator) on students’ social participation in Twitter and their perceived academic experience. The sample consisted of 525 future teachers, all of the Master’s degree students at Spain’s National Distance Education University (UNED). We used a mixed triangulation design, a theoretical model, quantitative methods (descriptive analysis and contrast of means) and qualitative methods (content analysis following the principles of grounded theory). Our results showed that the teacher’s role as a facilitator exerted a more positive influence on how students assessed their experience and on their participation on Twitter than the role as a guide. We conclude that the use of social media sites in education offers a motivating and satisfying framework that is not provided by other more traditional means such as forums, and that a role that facilitates independent learning is a better strategy when using social media in the classroom.El análisis de la influencia de las redes sociales en el proceso de aprendizaje ya no es una novedad. Sin embargo, debido a su importancia para el alumnado y en consecuencia para el profesorado, la literatura científica sigue prestando atención al potencial pedagógico de las redes sociales. El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue analizar la influencia del rol del profesorado (guía y facilitador) sobre la participación social en Twitter y la experiencia académica percibida de los estudiantes. La muestra estuvo formada por 525 futuros profesores, estudiantes de posgrado en la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. Se utilizó un diseño mixto de triangulación, un modelo teórico, una parte cuantitativa (análisis descriptivo y contraste sobre medias) y otra cualitativa (análisis de contenido, siguiendo los principios de la teoría fundamentada). Los resultados mostraron que el rol facilitador del profesor influye positivamente en la valoración de la experiencia por parte de los estudiantes y en la participación en Twitter, en mayor medida que el rol guía. Por un lado, se concluye que el uso de las redes sociales, en el ámbito educativo, proporciona un marco motivacional y de satisfacción que no lo aportan otros medios más tradicionales, como los foros, y, por otro, que un rol que facilita un proceso de aprendizaje independiente es mejor estrategia cuando hablamos de redes sociales en el aula.

The scientific communication habits and practices of the new wave of Spanish researchers are analyzed based on the results of an international survey (2019). The results obtained from 100 participants support those previously obtained from interviews conducted between 2016 and 2018 in Spain under the Harbingers Project, and show similarities to and differences from those collected from the mentioned survey in other countries covered by the Project in its second phase. Spanish researchers have two contradictory faces: They are innovative in their perceptions but slightly less so in their practices regarding open access and the use of social media. However, these new attitudes and habits are motivated by a desire to promote their own work and gain recognition; In this sense, they are conservative. The competition in which they are immersed regarding the achievement of tenure and, therefore, the need to focus on their abilities that will be evaluated represent a limitation on enjoying the learning process and dedicating themselves to the practices of open science to which their generation is naturally prone. Resumen Se analizan los hábitos y prácticas de comunicación científica de la nueva ola de investigadores españoles a partir de los resultados de una encuesta de ámbito internacional (2019). Los resultados de un centenar de contribuciones confirman los obtenidos previamente en entrevistas realizadas entre 2016 y 2018 en España en el marco del Proyecto Harbingers, y ponen de manifiesto similitudes y diferencias con los resultados obtenidos de la encuesta mencionada en otros países cubiertos por el Proyecto en su segunda fase. Los investigadores españoles presentan dos caras contradictorias: Son innovadores en sus percepciones aunque no tanto en sus prácticas relativas al acceso abierto y al uso de las redes sociales. Sin embargo, sus actitudes y hábitos nuevos no son desinteresados, están motivados por promocionar el trabajo propio y conseguir el reconocimiento. En este sentido, se muestran conservadores. La competición en que se encuentran inmersos para conseguir un trabajo estable y, por tanto, la necesidad de focalizarse en los méritos que les van a ser evaluados les limita para poder disfrutar del proceso de aprendizaje y dedicarse a las prácticas de ciencia abierta a las que su generación se muestra proclive de forma natural.

Social media is now used as an information source in many different contexts. For professional journalists, the use of social media for news production creates new challenges for the verification process. This article describes the development and evaluation of the ‘Truthmeter’ – a tool that automatically scores the journalistic credibility of social media contributors in order to inform overall credibility assessments. The Truthmeter was evaluated using a three-stage process that used both qualitative and quantitative methods, consisting of (1) obtaining a ground truth, (2) building a description of existing practices and (3) calibration, modification and testing. As a result of the evaluation process, which could be generalized and applied in other contexts, the Truthmeter produced credibility scores that were closely aligned with those of trainee journalists. Substantively, the evaluation also highlighted the importance of ‘relational’ credibility assessments, where credibility may be attributed based on networked connections to other credible contributors.


The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of brand personality of Jokowi and social media to voting behaviour of Indonesia president 2014. The methods of this research conducted with quantitative methods. This research uses quantitative method. In this study also built on a review of the theory and results of previous studies. The population of this study are students faculty of social science and political science at Riau Kepulauan university force 2011-2015 users of social media twitter and facebook. Based on sample drawing technique Krejcie and Morgan obtained sample of 165 samples and the scale used is likert. Hypothesis testing is done by using multiple regression with the help of computer software SPSS 19.0. This study looks at the influence of five dimensions of Jokowi brand personality, sincerity, excitement, competence, sophistication, and ruggednes. Furthermore, this study also aims to identify the influence of social media twitter and facebook, and three dimensions of voting behavior that is sociological, psychological, and rational choice. The results of this study show the brand personality Jokowi in general categorized well with the dimension of brand personality the highest score is sincerity. Student voter behavior is generally categorized well with the rational choice dimension that has the highest score. Brand personality has a positive influence on voter behavior. Social media contribute significantly to voting behavior. In other words brand personality and social media together give influence to PP equal to 23.1% while the rest 63.9% voting behavior influenced by other factor which not discussed in this research.

This study aims to understand the relationship of non-commercial Digital Marketing in Public Administration and the promotion of social participation in public management through social media. Despite the federal legislation establishing mechanisms for the participation of the population, such as consultations and public hearings, social media is gaining more and more space in our lives as a tool for communication, debate and exchange. Marketing 4.0 integrates offline and online, highlighting the importance of user participation during the development process of a particular product or service, which directs us to participatory public management and the development of more efficient and effective public policies . However, even though the use of social media as a tool for social participation and engagement in political discussions is growing, it cannot be confirmed whether this participation actually influences the development of public and social policies. To understand this relationship, a bibliographic review was carried out, complemented with a documentary research with the objective of discussing the theme.

Penggunaan media sosial sosial telah merambah ke semua lini layanan kehidupan masyarakat, termasuk di instansi pemerintah. Media sosial digunakan untuk mendukung implementasi program dan kegiatan di instansi pemerintah, yang kemudian berdampak pada kinerja individu di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi secara empiris dampak penggunaan media sosial terhadap kinerja individu di Dinas Pertanian dan Pangan Kota Magelang.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara kepada 40 (empat puluh) karyawan di Dinas Pertanian dan Pangan Kota Magelang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi media sosial memiliki dampak positif pada peningkatan kinerja individu di Dinas Pertanian dan Pangan, yaitu sebagaimedia komunikasi (koordinasi) dan tempat untuk berbagi informasi secara aktual. Sementara beberapa dampak negatif penggunaan media sosial yang perlu diantisipasi berupa konsentrasi karyawan yang berkurang sehingga dapat menyebabkan keterlambatan pada penyelesaian pekerjaanThe use of social social media has penetrated into all lines of life services, including at government offices. Social media are used to support the implementation of programs and activities in government offices, which then have an impact on the performance of individuals in it. This studyaims to identify empirically the impact of the use of social media on the performance of individuals in Agriculture and Food Office, Magelang. This research uses descriptive analysis method. Data is collected by filling in questionnaires and interviewing with 40 (forty) officer in the Agriculture andFood Office. Research shows that the application of social media has a positive impact on improving the performance of individuals in Agriculture and Food Office, namely as a medium of communication (coordination) and a place to share information actually. While some negative impacts that need to be anticipated include reducing the concentration that can cause delay incompletion of work.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana penggunaan media sosial untuk kegiatan katekese oleh para mahasiswa di Kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa sekolah tinggi agama di Malang, Jawa Timur sebanyak 61 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket tertutup dengan menggunakan Google Form. Teknik analisis data menggunakan scoring, F prosen dan uji binomial. Pengolahan data menggunakan rumus scoring, memperoleh score rata-rata 1,72. Artinya dalam menggunakan media sosial sebagai sarana katekese, mahasiswa menjalankan keterlibatannya dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data menggunakan uji binomial diperoleh nilai z = 4,05. Jika dibandingkan dengan nilai tabel maka nilai tersebut lebih rendah dari taraf signifikan 0,05 artinya ada perbedaan antara keterlibatan mahasiswa yang satu dengan yang lain dalam menggunakan media sosial sebagai sarana katekese.AbstractThis research was conducted to reveal how the use of social media for catechesis activities by the students in Malang City, East Java. This research uses quantitative methods. Research subjects are students of religious high schools in Malang, East Java, as many as 61 people. Data collection using a closed questionnaire using Google Form. The data analysis technique used scoring, F percent and binomial test. Processing data using the scoring formula, obtaining an average score of 1.72. This means that in using social media as a means of catechesis, students carry out their involvement well. Based on the results of data processing using the binomial test, the value of z = 4.05 was obtained. When compared with the table value, this value is lower than the significant level of 0.05, meaning that there is a difference between the involvement of one student and another in using social media as a means of catechesis

Kajian ini bertujuan mengungkapkan kaitan antara posmodernisme, sastra populer, dan siber sastra. Dengan pemahaman posmodernisme sebagai pergerakan budaya, sastra populer sebagai sastra pelarian, dan siber sastra sebagai konsekuensi atas pergeseran produksi sastra yang memanfaatkan internet, kajian ini merelevansikan asumsi bahwa ketiganya memiliki kaitan yang cukup erat. Pendekatan kajian ini adalah fenomenologis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif. Posmodernisme menghasilkan pergeseran pola pikir terpusat menjadi tersebar sehingga batas antara yang adiluhung dengan yang populer menjadi kabur ditambah lagi dengan fenomena media sosial yang menghadirkan interaktivitas penulis-pembaca sebagai pola baru kesusastraan, seperti pemanfaatan media sosial (facebook, twitter, wattpad, dan lain sebagainya) yang mampu menawarkan intimasi antara penulis dengan pembaca serta bagaimana wacana kebebasan menulis menjadi hal yang realistis lagi tanpa perlu kompetisi ketat yang penuh dengan kekuasaan dan legitimasi. Tentu saja, interaktivitas penulis-pembaca tersebut merupakan hal yang sulit terwujud dalam produksi sastra yang konvensional (versi cetak). Kata kunci: Posmodernisme, sastra popular, siber sastra, interaktivitas This study aims to reveal the relation among postmodernism, pop literature, and cyber literature. By the understanding of postmodernism as a cultural movement, popular literature as escape literature, and cyber literature as a consequence of the shift in literary production that utilizes the internet technology, this study revives an assumption that the three have a fairly close relationship. The approach of this study is phenomenological with descriptive analysis techniques. Postmodernism results in a shift in decentralization process, so that the margin between the noble and the popular get blurred along with the phenomenon of social media that faces writer-reader interactivity as a new mode of literature, such as the use of social media (facebook, twitter, wattpad, etc.). Those offer intimacy between writers and readers, as well as how the discourse of freedom of writing becomes realistic without requirement toward intense competition that is full of power and legitimacy. Of course, the writer-reader interactivity is difficult to be realized in conventional literary production (print version). Keywords: Postmodernism, pop literature, cyber literature, interactivity

Abstract: This study discusses the use of social media in organizational information management focused on WhatsApp application. This phenomenon is important given the current situation where the usage of social media as one of the formal and informal communication channels in the distribution of organizational information needs to be examined especially in terms of usage factors and its implications. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to develop an instrument to measure the usage of WhatsApp as well as to identify the implications of  WhatsApp usage among organizational staff. This study utilized combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method of interviewing was conducted with professional management staff, administrative and support staff. As a result of the interview, instruments to measure WhatsApp usage were formed which contained the dimensions of WhatsApp Usage, Belief in Information, WhatsApp Usage Ethics and WhatsApp Usage Competencies. The questionnaire was then distributed to the staff of the organization. Analysis of the questionnaire showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between WhatsApp Usage and Belief in Information, the Impact of WhatsApp Usage, and WhatsApp Usage Competencies. This study contributes to the knowledge related to information management in organizational communication as well as  strengthening the Technology-based Social Construction theory and Hyper personal theory. Keywords:  Competency, Information Management, WhatsApp, Instrument Development, Hyper personal theory     Abstrak: Kajian ini membincangkan tentang  penggunaan media sosial dalam pengurusan maklumat organisasi khususnya aplikasi WhatsApp. Fenomena ini penting memandangkan situasi semasa yang banyak melibatkan penggunaan media sosial sebagai salah satu saluran komunikasi formal dan tidak formal dalam penyaluran maklumat organisasi yang perlu diteliti dari segi faktor penggunaan dan implikasi dari penggunaan berkenaan. Tujuan kajian ini dilakukan adalah untuk membentuk instrumen bagi mengukur penggunaan WhatsApp serta mengenalpasti implikasi penggunaan WhatsApp dalam kalangan kaki tangan organisasi.  Kajian ini mengaplikasikan gabungan kaedah  kualitatif dan kuantitatif.  Kaedah kualitatif iaitu temu bual dilakukan dengan kakitangan pengurusan profesional dan kakitangan pentadbiran dan sokongan.  Hasil dari temu bual berkenaan, instrumen bagi mengukur penggunaan WhatsApp dibentuk yang mengandungi dimensi Penggunaan WhatsApp, Kepercayaan terhadap Maklumat, Etika Penggunaan WhatsApp dan Kompetensi Penggunaan WhatsApp. Soal selidik berkenaan kemudiannya diedarkan kepada kakitangan organisasi. Analisis dari soal selidik menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara Penggunaan WhatsApp dengan Kepercayaan Terhadap Maklumat, Kesan Penggunaan WhatsApp, dan Kompetensi Penggunaan WhatsApp. Kajian ini menyumbang kepada pengetahuan berkaitan dengan pengurusan maklumat dalam komunikasi organisasi serta pengukuhan teori Konstruksi Sosial berteraskan Teknologi dan teori Hyperpersonal. Nowadays social media has become a lifestyle of some Indonesian people and libraries as one of the institutions that provide information services and providers of information sources for users. In addition to the phenomenon of the use of social media as mentioned above, in several studies on the use of social media in libraries it was found that at present there has begun to be growing awareness from libraries to use social media as a form of innovation from services provided by libraries to visitors. In this study trying to analyze the use of social media as a form of innovation, communication strategies and service creativity in the college library. The method used is descriptive analysis. In order for the use of social media in the library to be more optimal, there are several things that must be considered. Optimizing the use of social media in libraries needs to be done so that all available information can be conveyed properly.
