Historically, the value theory was based on an objectivist approach, where the value of the goods arises through the involvement of private means of production, with a special role of work or a subjectivist approach, where value is a subjective phenomenon and depends on marginal utility of the economic entity. The neoclassical revolution replaced the vague value theory with price theory, the economic reality and consumer expectations led to a situation in which lowering the price of goods at the expense of the environment became a commonly accepted mode of operation. For a long time, the value theory in economics was not an area of reflection, both in the sense of economic and moral value. It was assumed that the subjective character of the value phenomenon makes the analysis of value elusive for the tools of economics. At the same time, environmental goods were considered to be so-called free, occurring in unlimited quantities. These assumptions have contributed to the development of an economics theory that is the antithesis of the economics of sustainable development, excessively exploiting the environment and, indirectly, society as well. The assumptions of sustainable development redefine the space for interpretation of the value theory and imply a change in the approach to an environmental element that cannot be understood in the sense of a free good and which imposes an objective understanding of values that can be preserved or lost in the production process.

Subject. The article discusses the sustainability of regional economy development, its definition, and the substance of sustainable development. Objectives. We aim at performing a comprehensive analysis of indicators of sustainability and adaptability of regional development in the context of digitalization, formulating a strategy for economic behavior that takes into account the multidimensional nature of regional inequality and is focused on boosting the economic potential of regions. Methods. The study draws on dialectic and systems approaches, general scientific methods of retrospective, situational, economic and statistical, and comparative analysis. Results. The sustainability of the region focuses on improving the human welfare over long time horizon. This happens in three areas, i.e. maximizing the efficiency of resource use; ensuring justice and democracy; minimizing resource consumption and environmental damage. The stability of the region can be assessed by using one parameter, or by combining the parameters in accordance with the type of region and expected results. Conclusions. The adaptation of a region to changing conditions depends on its type (‘adapted’, ‘adaptive’, and ‘non-adapted’). Regional inequality has two main components: difference in economic potential and social satisfaction of residents. Another component, affecting the stability and adaptability of regions, is the level of their digitalization. However, some regions have only formally embarked on the path of digitalization. Moreover, a focus on smart technologies, solutions and digitalization often leads to ignoring the goals of sustainable development. Smart technologies should be aimed at ensuring sustainability within the framework of the smart sustainable city concept.

Education is one of the key goals of sustainable development (SD), which establishes the basis for the improvement of the people’s living conditions. In this logic a special role is played by universities that create an institutional framework for educating citizens on sustainable development, offering a new understanding of social problems. On the one hand, universities can create and promote knowledge about SD by their educational, expert and research activities, hence developing relevant values among people. On the other hand, universities can become an active agent in implementing the concept of SD by introducing it into its own academic activities. The article considers stakeholder approach as one of the approaches to the implementation of the concept of education for sustainable development (ESD). Therefore based on this approach, the article explores the benefits of the key stakeholders of the sustainable university. Low awareness among key stakeholders is one of the significant factors that hindering the implementation of the SD concept. Due to the lack of a sufficient research focused on studying the interests of the main stakeholders in the framework of ESD, this article is an attempt to narrow this gap.

The article gives the author's vision of the sustainable development of a public corporation based on the movement towards "green" growth. The results of the author's research aimed at establishing a link between the financial condition of Russian public corporations and ESG criteria are presented. This is a connection that necessitates the transition to a "green" economy at the level of an individual enterprise, not only for reasons of ethical business practices, but also because of the possibility of extracting financial and economic benefits. The article proves that the application of ESG practice leads an individual economic entity to economic and social prosperity.

The Continental intercalary groundwater is highly sought for its water as resources hugely mobilized in Northern Sahara. A very high flow rate and output pressure characterizes this underground water. It amounts from 50 to 400 l.s-1 for the flow, and from 5 to 40 bar for pressure. A survey of the Northern Sahara Aquifer System was essential to prove the existence of this potential. This energy appears into the artesian form, which remains very considerable for a very long time in most drilling. We have realised that this energy is immense, as well as the expanded volume of the groundwater, and the importance of its use in agriculture. Unfortunately, this potential remains untapped to this day and the energy of this water is completely neglected. Several turbo generator and/or inverted pump (PATs) integration tests were undergone. The new concept of reflection with respect to the environment and sustainable development has led us to structure our work towards the extension of this potential in order to extract the exploitable energy.

The article examines the infrastructure approach to the implementation of the concept of sustainable development in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF). This is done from the point of view of compliance of this development with the so-called megatrends of the world economy, highlighting theoretical, conceptual, and technological aspects. he characteristic of modern geoeconomic and geopolitical factors of development of the AZRF is given. A brief comparative analysis of applicability of economic models that are relevant the concept of sustainable development in the case of the Russian Arctic: bioeconomy, green economy, and circular economy. A few conditions for the implementation of the circular economy model in the Russian Arctic is considered. In connection with the representation of the AZRF as a heterogeneous socio-economic, real-virtual, socio-cyber-physical space, a special role of logistics infrastructure is shown as necessary condition for ensuring the sustainable development of this largest Russian region. The emphasis is made on the need to conceptualize the concept of "logistics infrastructure". Based on a holistic approach to logistics, a 5-layer (underwater, water, ground, air, space) conceptual research holistic model is proposed that could be used for designing, constructing, and monitoring the system of logistics flows in the Russian Arctic. The result of an analytical assessment (in dimensions of "digitalization" and "sustainability") of the state of the Art and possible development for the underwater layer of the logistics infrastructure of the Russian Arctic. The conclusions of the article could be useful both for designing the logistics infrastructure of the Russian Arctic, and for designing the courses of disciplines of higher education relevant to the problem under consideration.

The proposed article is devoted to certain aspects of measuring the effectiveness of implementation development strategies of the economic subject. One of the enterprise-specific structures of St. Petersburg, operating in the format of small and medium-sized businesses for a long time on the market of biomedical and pharmaceutical products of the Northern capital, was chosen as the object of research. The studied company in its market activity adheres to the innovative path of development, which requires the attraction of significant investment influences, including state organizational and financial support. To implement the existing plans of the enterprise, the authors of the study developed a strategy of innovative development for three years, taking intoaccount the peculiarities of the formation of prices for medicines produced by the business structure. For obvious reasons, the authors assigned the company name “ABC” to the real economic entity. This company is part of the St. Petersburg medical-pharmaceutical cluster and successfully works on the production sites of the Special Economic Zone of the Technological and Innovative Type (SEZ TVT).

The article focuses on the social aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Czech Armed Forces (CAF) and, more specifically, on professional ethics as a prerequisite for the sustainable development of the security organization. The text presents the results of research conducted on a sample of 278 members of the CAF. This research was based on Schwartz’s holistic concept. To determine value orientation, a reduced version with 21 entries of the Schwartz’s Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ) was used. Our data indicate that value orientation changes depending on military rank, depends, to a certain degree, on trait conformity (including obedience, respect for authorities, politeness, and self-control), and increases in the presence of lower-ranking individuals. Based on these findings the authors recommend to continue monitoring the value profiles of CAF members at various stages in their careers, to determine the optimal range of self-identification with a certain military rank and position, and to provide rank and position-specific educational programs into military ethics and ethical leadership aimed at sustainable development of moral-values.

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a complex and multifaceted subject, including many aspects, environmental, societal, and financial. It is not a set of knowledge, which can be learned, because it is an evolving subject and in addition solutions that are successfully applied at specific locations might fail elsewhere. ESD should make students aware of the problems humankind is facing and encourage them to become active citizens. Thus, people must also have positive attitudes towards sustainability issues. In this study, we will present the results of a teaching intervention (TI) leading to a system of two expansive learning cycles. For the TI we used the topic of houses, which are a social construct, an economic entity, and have environmental influence. The researcher, an architect had to transform her knowledge to prepare the TI, thus starting an expansive learning cycle which was influenced by the outcome of the TI. The preservice teachers, who decided to use the topic of houses during their internship started their expansive cycle, which again influenced the researchers’ learning cycle. In this study, we will present the results of the TI and the implementation of the preservice teachers’ teachings of SD during their practicum. The preservice teachers reflected on their teachings in their written reports, which were used to analyze how preservice teachers chose to apply the topic ‘houses’ during their internship.
