At the present stage of development of world music, the accordion and button accordion occupy one of the leading positions. Formation of instruments on the professional concert stage is an integral part of both world and Ukrainian musical culture, as evidenced by the composition, a large number of performing competitions and festivals that take place not only in Ukraine but also in Europe, Asia and America, and Australia. A significant phenomenon of the latest wave of development of accordion and button accordion art is the crystallization of pop and jazz in the works of composers and performers. From the second half of the twentieth century, the popularity of pop and jazz music among performers and listeners (due to its brightness and accessibility) opened new horizons, genre and stylistic searches which have largely affected the trends in the development of world accordion and button accordion art, including pop and jazz. The composer’s activity of leading performers is becoming a widespread phenomenon of modern pop-jazz accordion movement. Among them we note V. Podgorny, V. Zubytsky, V. Vlasov, A. Haidenko, O. Nazarenko, B. Myronchuk, A. Stashevsky and others. Well aware of the specifics of technical-expressive, acoustic and textural capabilities of modern accordion and button accordion, domestic composers-accordionists have created a large number of bright works of pop and jazz direction. Thus, the intensification of composer’s work and the emergence of new works of pop and jazz in the accordion and button accordion art of modern times have determined the relevance of the topic of this article. The purpose of the article is to identify the main stylistic and genre features of the French musette in the works of A. Haidenko. One of the most significant examples of this genre is the series «Paris Secrets» of five waltzes in the style of French musettes for accordion by A. Haidenko. Such a work as a «musette» has not yet been mastered by any of the domestic composers, especially in the form of a cycle. The composer rethought the basics of the French folk instrumental genre in terms of professional accordion performance. This synthesis transforms the genre of the musette, embodies the pop genre in terms of academic art. The use of professional performance capabilities distinguishes the artist’s works from other compositions of this style, with the general availability of musical material to a wide range of listeners. Typical melismatics of French musettes is organically and professionally implemented by A. Haidenko in the whole cycle. The melismatics is based on beamed ascending and descending grace notes on chord tones, “singing” grace notes on separate notes, chromatic grace notes (imitations of “transitions” to the sound), mordents. Sudden dynamic contrasts, shift of strong bars, chord introduction, virtuosity, brightness of phrases and sentences are typical for A. Haidenko’s musettes. The series of five waltzes for accordion “Paris Secrets” in the style of French musettes by A. Haidenko is a unique heritage not only of the domestic, but also of the world original repertoire.

At the present stage of development, the musical society has the centuries-long artistic experience. The evolution of educating professionals in the performing sphere has contributed to the creation of musical masterpieces in different genres. The birth and decline of numerous musical styles and trends has led to new requirements for trumpeters and their capabilities. Of course, the development of trumpet playing has always been accompanied by the new techniques and methods aimed at implementing the composer tasks. However, we can often observe the use and borrowing of the same performance techniques and methods aimed at overcoming common difficulties, for example, in academic or jazz music. Modern Ukrainian primary and secondary educational institutions maintain their position to educate narrow specialized trumpeters, while European countries are increasingly frequently raising universal performers. The trumpeters having one-vector performance skills, for example, academic or solely jazz ones, narrow own performance capabilities. It limits their professional performance in their subsequent solo and orchestral practices. This suggests the need to create the methods for training special universal skills for trumpeters, which will expand their capabilities and ensure the ability to play different music. The article explores the universal performances abilities of a modern trumpeter. The capabilities and skills are singled out, combinations of which allow the trumpeter to master the professional performance of both academic and pop-jazz works. The classification of techniques and skills laying the foundation for broad specialization and professional experience of a trumpeter is proposed. The characteristic of the technological component of the universal trumpet skills is provided. Based on the research of scientific explorations and practical achievements of modern trumpeters, a list of the masters is specified, who are the bearers of universal abilities, the names and achievements of these professionals are presented in the article. Background. By analyzing and comparing the researches and publications of some authors, we distinguish the components that can provide the trumpeter with a universal ability to work with academic and pop-jazz material. The education of modern trumpeter specialists is based on the scientific and methodological works of the leading specialists: J. Arban, E. Bolvin, S. Watterman, I. Gishka, K. Gordon, T. Dokschitzer, K. Caruso, G. Clarke, Ch. Colin, D. Muedinov, H. Orvid, J. O’Neill, O. Stepurko, etc. Each author uses his own methods aimed at gaining or developing some particular practical skills of the trumpeter. However, such works are characterized by a clear orientation, which is projected solely on academic or pop-jazz specifics. The works of J. Arban, G. Clarke, T. Dokschitzer are devoted to the development of solely academic features of the performing musician, while S. Watterman, E. Bolvin, J. O’Neill and O. Stepurko take care of the jazz image of their fans. Thus, a completely newest step in the trumpet art would be a creation of a fundamentally new methodological concept in formation of specialists that would be based on production of symbiosis patterns and combination of universal skills in playing the academic and pop-jazz music. Objectives. The purpose of the paper is to distinguish and study the universal performer skills of the trumpeter, which will allow using the experience of a specialist in academic and pop-jazz art work in many various aspects. Methods. The following methods of research have been used in the paper: historical – when reviewing the methods and algorithm of training trumpeters in Ukraine and in the world; comparative – when analyzing and comparing the well-known theoretical works on the method of teaching playing the trumpet; empirical – when analyzing the thoughts expressed by prominent performing trumpeters and educators having the universal capabilities of academic and pop-jazz performances; inductive and deductive – when studying the issue on acquiring universal performance skills that will expand the specialization of the trumpeter and promote mastering the skill of performing academic and pop-jazz works. Results. At the beginning of the paper, we have considered the concepts of universal skills and performances of trumpeters. The achievements of the most prominent performing musicians having the universal capabilities of playing academic and pop-jazz music have been distinguished. The main part of the paper studies the process of acquiring universal skills by the trumpeter, which is defined as: 1) experience, and 2) technology. In our opinion, the basis of professional experience of the trumpeter’s universal art is: a) fluency in traditional and non-traditional techniques of playing the trumpet; b) practicing the different styles of music and performance; c) experience in improvisation and arrangement. The final part of the paper provides a list of universal skills of the trumpeter: a) the endurance of the lips muscles; b) the knowledge of the articulation and fingering combination theory; c) the use of high-tone sound focus and epithelium muscles flexibility control; d) the manipulation of the sound tone; e) the technique of playing the extreme limits of the range; e) the skill of long-term playing in the extreme limits of the high pitch sound-dynamic zone. Conclusions. Musicians-trumpeters, working in a narrow specialization, understand well that the level of performance technology has grown so fast in the recent years that performers should seek alternative methods to master it. Nowadays, the trumpet performing art needs new ideas for its improvement and development. Therefore, when educators-trumpeters base their school on the narrow specialization skills, i.e. performance in academic or pop-jazz manner, the music industry lacks valuable professionals. Thus, we have outlined the need to expand the mastering of the trumpeter’s special skills, which will allow performers acquiring a wide range of skills, achieving mastery and showing themselves in a wide range of orchestral and ensemble groups. The universal skills, considered herein, should be recommended for the trumpeters to introduce into their own system of personal training. Skilfully mastering them, the trumpeter will open the world of new performance opportunities.

This article demonstrates the need for the iconic status and function of Buddhist scripture to receive more attention by illuminating how lay Korean Buddhists try to appropriate the power of sutras. The oral and aural aspects of scripture, explained by Wilfred Cantwell Smith, provide only a limited understanding of the characteristics of scripture. It should be noted that, before modern times, most lay people, not only in Buddhist cultures but also in Christian and other traditions, neither had the chance to recite scriptures nor to listen to their recitations regularly. Several clear examples demonstrate contemporary Korean Buddhists’ acceptance of the iconic status of sutras and their attempt to appropriate the power and status of those sacred texts. In contemporary Korea, lay Buddhists try to claim the power of scriptures in their daily lives by repeating and possessing them. Twenty-first century lay believers who cannot read or recite in a traditional style have found new methods of repetition, such as internet programs for copying sacred texts and for playing recordings of their recitations. In addition, many Korean Buddhists consider the act of having sutras in one’s possession to be an effective way of accessing the sacred status and power of these texts. Hence, various ways of possessing them have been developed in a wide range of products, from fancy gilded sutras to sneakers embroidered with mantras.

Arsenic content in groundwaters present a wide range of concentration, ranging from hundreds of micrograms to thousands of micrograms of arsenic per litter, while the maximum permitted arsenic concentration established by World Health Organization (WHO) is 10 mg L-1. According to the WHO all people, regardless of their stage of development and their social economic condition, have the right to have access to adequate drinking water. The most efficient and economic technique used for arsenic removal is represented by adsorption. In order to make this remediation technique more affordable and environmentally friendly is important to new materials with advance adsorbent properties. Novelty of present paper is represented by the usage of a new adsorbent material obtained by physical - chemical modification of Amberlite XAD polymers using crown ethers followed by iron doping, due to well-known affinity of arsenic for iron ions. Present paper aims to test the obtained modified Amberlite polymer for arsenic removal from real groundwater by using adsorption in a fixed bed column, establishing in this way a mechanism for the adsorption process. During experimental work was studied the influence of competing ions from real water into the arsenic adsorption process.

The development of digital technologies offers a wide range of opportunities to increase production efficiency, which relies on known tools and methods that transform in modern conditions. Many researchers note that the specialization most characteristic of complex knowledge-intensive industries has high prospects and is evident in all sectors of the national economy. Its combination with cooperation and outsourcing brings momentum to the development of both individual enterprises and the industry as a whole. It has been found that in light industry, which had a developed system of specializations, the return to this practice is difficult due to significant changes in the industries related to the liquidation of large mass production enterprises and the lag in the creation of digital twins, which are the basis at the stage of production preparation. Lost in the process of transition to a market economy, large production with a complete cycle is now successfully replaced by specialized small and medium-sized production, using high-performance equipment combined with modern digital technologies. It is obvious that the garment industry has entered a new cycle of development characterized by a high degree of specialization against the background of the application of digital technologies at all stages of the product life cycle. The significant lag in the application of digital technologies at the stage of production of light industry products is overcome, especially in the transition to additive technologies. It is noted that the digital shadow complements the information digital twin, which is especially relevant from the point of view of production. The introduction of digital technologies in specialized industries allows to achieve higher productivity and payback of invested capital than in standard production, where such investment is "blurred" due to the lag of related processes of the enterprise. It has been revealed that the modern stage of development of light industry is characterized by the application of fundamentally new technologies based on the creation of a digital twin and digital shadow, which create prerequisites for industrial application of additive technologies in industry. Key words: specialization, cooperation, digitalization, development of light industry

In this article, I argue for organizing the undergraduate curriculum around topics that are applicable to a wide variety of repertoires. Doing so allows students to continue to learn the central concepts and skills that theorists seek to impart via the core curriculum but through a wider variety of musical styles and traditions. Pairing this approach to the curriculum with a wide range of musical activities and projects that extend beyond analysis to include improvisation, arranging, performance, composition, and research helps students connect the content to their own instruments, degree programs, and musical interests. I describe my application of this philosophy towards curricular reform within the context of a fourth semester course on twentieth-century music, where twentieth-century music was treated as a broad category encompassing post-tonal and avant garde music alongside jazz, popular, and world music. This article presents a broad overview of the course, discusses the successes and failures of this approach, and offers some suggestions for how it may be implemented and adapted for various teaching contexts.

This article examines the ecology of germination and the features of ontogenesis of the floating mat-forming hygrogelophyte Calla palustris L. in the territory of some regions in the central part of European Russia and the Republic of Belarus under laboratory conditions. It has been found that in the surveyed territory in the dense ear-like collective fruit of C. palustris, 40.7 ± 6.4 fruits, juicy berries, are formed and the number of seeds produced (actual seed productivity), averages 164.0 ± 89.3. Widely varying data on the number of berries in the collective fruit, as well as a variable number of ovules in them, shows that the seed productivity of C. palustris depends on a whole range of endogenous and exogenous factors, including the effectiveness of pollination of flowers by insects. In laboratory experiments, various storage periods (2 and 12 months) and methods of presowing seed treatment (stratification, drying, ice-freezing) were applied to simulate the ecological conditions of the growth of white alder. It is shown that freshly harvested seeds do not germinate at once, and wet cold stratification makes it possible to achieve maximum values of laboratory germination (from 84.4 to 99.0) and germination energy (from 66.6 to 88.3). Given that the features of germination are indicators of dormancy, it is demonstrated that seeds of C. palustris are in a state of shallow physiological dormancy, conditioned by the physiological mechanism of inhibition. Along with dry storage, wet cold stratification is the main way for seeds to enter a non-dormant state. Such mechanisms are consistent with the climatic features of the regions in which the species grows. It is found that C. palustris seeds, in common with many other species of hygrogelophytes, can float on the water surface for a long time (more than 30 days), spreading with water flow (hydrochoria). Seeds of C. palustris are photosensitive, germination is observed in a wide range of temperatures – from 10–14 to 30 ºС (at constant humidity), type of germination – underground (hypogeal). It is found that ontogeny of individuals of generative origin of C. palustris in the laboratory is terminated (the plants died after passing the juvenile ontogenetic state). The formation of C. palustris seedlings under laboratory conditions lasts 23–25 days and is characterized by the appearance of the main organs of the plant and the anisotropic growth of the shoot axis. At the final stage of development, the seedling is represented by a uniaxial monopodial and anisotropic growing rosette shoot with shortened internodes. The juvenile ontogenetic state in laboratory conditions lasts up to 7 months, after which the plants die off. In the framework of ontomorphogenesis, the stages of ontogenetic development under study (the seedling and the juvenile plant) correspond to the phase of the primary uniaxial rosette shoot. The plant in this period is represented by a uniaxial monopodially growing anchorage shoot. The detection of virgin plants in natural conditions indicates the possibility of their further development from the rudiments of generative origin. The main way of the species reproduction is vegetative, characteristic of most aquatic and semi-aquatic plants. In the course of ontogenesis, progressive features of development such as cotyledon greening and early death of the radicle root have been revealed.

Numerous studies in recent years have proven that the oncological process is an independent risk factor for thrombosis. For a long period of time and at the moment, research is continuing on the pathogenesis of a prothrombotic state in cancer patients. It was shown that the degree of risk is influenced by such indicators as the histological type of tumor, the stage of development of the disease, surgery, duration and type of anesthesia, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, age, the presence of central venous catheters, immobilization, thrombophilia, history of thrombosis, infections. Thrombosis in cancer patients is triggered by thrombogenic factors associated with the tumor, patient-associated factors and environmental factors. The tumor cell affects the balance of hemostasis by releasing procoagulant substances, profibrinolytic, proproteolytic and proaggregant activity, expression of adhesion molecules, secretion of proinflammatory and proangiogenic cytokines; new participants in the process have also been identified. Studies have confirmed the fact that inflammation and thrombosis are inextricably linked with each other and play an important role in the progression of the disease and metastasis. All this opens up new horizons for the development of modern innovative strategies for treating cancer patients and increasing survival.

Until rather recently, piracy as a form of seaborne organized crime seemed to be a phenomenon of the past—something that was relegated to a great number of books, some comics, and, of course, the silver screen: many Hollywood blockbusters revolve around pirates as larger-than-life swashbuckling characters, played for example by Douglas Fairbanks (The Black Pirate, 1926), Errol Flynn (Captain Blood, 1935), Yul Brynner (The Buccaneer, 1958), or Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, 2003 onward). Even the Muppets had a (comedy) go at pirates with Muppets Treasure Island (1996). That “real” pirates still exist and pose a formidable danger to seafarers at least in some parts of the world was known only to a small group of people outside the mariner community such as legal experts and some scholars, mainly from history departments. This blissful ignorance was swept away by the advent of Somali piracy between 2005 and 2008: suddenly, “real” pirates made headlines again, sparking a renewed interest in all things pirate, modern or not. It also resulted in a wave of publications focusing on modern pirates, trying to make sense out of why this age-old menace had returned with a vengeance. Even for specialists, this burgeoning literature, ranging from books aimed at the wider public and offering general overviews to very specialized research articles appealing to equally specialized audiences, it is difficult to keep track. This bibliography aims at referencing the leading works, in order to offer the reader a quick access to the vast repository of knowledge which is nowadays available. It will commence with general overviews, to then move to the most dangerous regional hot-spots of current piracy, which are West Africa (Gulf of Guinea), East Africa (Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin), and Southeast Asia (Straits of Malacca and Singapore plus South China Sea). Also, some secondary hot spots such as the Persian/Arabian Gulf and the Sundarbans at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal are referenced as well, although not much has been written about these manifestations of piracy. This is followed by works on root causes (why do people become pirates in modern times?), and works on modern pirates’ modus operandi, in particular their weapons and tactics (what do modern pirates do?). Finally, the focus will shift from piracy to counter-piracy at sea, on land, and at court—the latter part also including publications dealing with legal definitions of piracy such as included in the United Nations Law of the Sea Convention (LoSC). As regards the nature of the sources referenced, it should be noted that in order to reach out to a wide range of audiences, not only academic and scholarly publications are included, but also publications with a more journalistic approach that aim at the general public. Furthermore, great care was taken to include publications which are easily accessible—also for the benefit of a wider audience.
