A motor core is formed by stacking iron sheets on top of each other. Traditionally, there are two stacking methods, riveting and welding, but these two methods will increase iron loss and reduce usage efficiency. The use of resin is the current developmental trend in the technology used to join iron sheets, which has advantages including lowering iron loss, smoothing magnetic circuits, and generating higher rigidity. The flow behavior of resin in gluing technology is very important because it affects the dipping of iron sheets and the stacking of iron sheets with resin. In this study, a set of analytical processes is proposed to predict the flow behavior of resin through the use of computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools. The research results are compared with the experimental results to verify the accuracy of the CAE tools in predicting resin flow. CAE tools can be used to predict results, modify modules for possible defects, and reduce the time and costs associated with experiments. The obtained simulation results showed that the filling trend was the same as that for the experimental results, where the error between the simulation results for the final dipping process and the target value was 0.6%. In addition, the position of air traps is also simulated in the dipping process.

The article presents results of research on an adjustable check valve. In particular, the article deals with improvement of flow characteristics and reduction in pressure losses of an existing valve design. The subject of the research was the valve body in the form of a steel block intended for mounting a typical cartridge valve insert. Two variants of the valve body were analysed: a standard one, which is currently in production, and the proposed new solution, in which the geometry was modified based on the results of CFD simulations. The main research task was to properly shape and arrange holes and flow channels inside the body, between the cartridge valve and the connecting plate. Using CFD analyses, a solution for minimising the flow resistance was sought and then the method of modifying flow channels geometry was developed. The CFD simulation results showed a significant reduction in pressure loss, up to 40%. The obtained simulation results were verified on a test bench using a prototype of the proposed valve block. A high degree of consistency in the results of CFD simulations and laboratory experiments was achieved. The relative difference between simulation and experimental results in the entire considered range of the flow rate did not exceed 6.0%.

In this paper, flow during the filling and post-filling stages in semiconductor chip encapsulation has been analyzed. A finite-element method based on the Hele-Shaw approximation is used for the flow analysis in the chip cavity. The compressibility of the epoxy-molding compound has been considered to analyze the post-filling stage. The model has been verified by comparing resulting predictions with experimental results. Specifically, pressure has been measured in a rectangular cavity and compared with simulation results. The calculated and experimental results show good agreement. [S1043-7398(00)00101-8]

High-precision flanges are used in conjunction with O-rings, bolts, and nuts in a variety of pipe connections to prevent the leakage of harmful fluids. Flanges require good hermeticity; i.e., without pores, cavities, blow holes, or other shrinkage defects. This study employed mold flow analysis to predict where and how defects are likely to occur during the casting process. In this study, we soaked the bottom of the casting system in cold water to direct the direction of solidification from the bottom upward. Simulation results indicate that this method significantly reduces the probability of shrinkage defects in castings.

A simulation describing the fiber movement during the condensation was conducted, and the effect of the condensation in the carding machine was studied. The simulation results showed that the condensation has the blending and the evening effect on the condensed sliver, which can be explained by the fiber rearrangement. Moreover, the increasing web width and the decreasing condensing length can result in a more uniform sliver. Further, the evening effect of the web width on the web was verified by experiments. The simulation results were in general agreement with the experimental results.

Four types of Super Typhoon drip emitter with trapezoidal channel were selected out for the investigation of the flow field of the channel, and the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method was applied to simulate the micro-field inside the channel. The simulation results showed that the emitter discharge of different turbulent model is 4%-14% bigger than that of the experimental results, the average discharge deviation of κ-ω and RSM model is 5, 4.5 respectively, but the solving efficiency of the κ-ω model is obviously higher than that of the RSM model.

In this paper, the overall design of magnetic levitated thrust bearing experiment table was completed, of which the main experimental parameters those are electromagnetic parameters and structural dimensions were determined, in addition, the joint debugging and deformation measurement are performed. Analysis results showed that theoretical value, ANSYS simulation results and experimental results were similar, which said that it is feasible to perform stiffness check of the thrust collar on the experiment table.

A series of numerical simulations utilizing LS-DYNA was performed to determine the mid-point deformations of V-shaped plates due to blast loading. The numerical simulation results were then compared with experimental results from published literature. The V-shaped plate is made of DOMEX 700 and is used underneath an armour personal carrier vehicle as an anti-tank mine to mitigate the effects of explosion from landmines in a battlefield. The performed numerical simulations of blast loading of V-shaped plates consisted of various angles i.e. 60°, 90°, 120°, 150° and 180°; variable mass of explosives located at the central mid-point of the V-shaped vertex with various stand-off distances. It could be seen that the numerical simulations produced good agreement with the experimental results where the average difference was about 26.6%.

When the airflow patterns inside a lawn mower deck are understood, the deck can be redesigned to be efficient and have an increased cutting ability. To learn more, a combination of computational and experimental studies was performed to investigate the effects of blade and housing designs on a flow pattern inside a1.1mwide corotating double-spindle lawn mower deck with side discharge. For the experimental portion of the study, air velocities inside the deck were measured using a laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV) system. A high-speed video camera was used to observe the flow pattern. Furthermore, noise levels were measured using a sound level meter. For the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) work, several arbitrary radial sections of a two-dimensional blade were selected to study flow computations. A three-dimensional, full deck model was also developed for realistic flow analysis. The computational results were then compared with the experimental results.

Mold flow software is used to conduct mold flow analysis of copier parts, simulate its filling and cooling process, and predict possible defects in the product design process in order to determine the formability of plastic parts and product quality. The optimal mold structure can be obtained by comparing different solutions so as to save production costs and improve product quality and efficiency.
