As webstores usually face the issue of low conversion rates, finding ways to effectively increase them is of special interest to researchers and practitioners alike. However, to the best of our knowledge, no one has yet empirically investigated the usefulness of various in-webstore marketing tools like coupons or different types of product recommendations. By analysing clickstream data for a shoe and a bed online store, we are contributing to closing this gap. In particular, we use our present data to build more general hypotheses on how such purchasing incentives might function and on how they could be used in practice.

Knowledge about users’ expectations and mental models is a key aspect of interface development. By meeting users’ expectations, errors may be prevented and interaction quality enhanced. In the case of online shops, this means that it is crucial to know where users expect to find the most common Web objects such as the search field, shopping cart, or navigation. In this chapter, we show how users’ mental models of an online shop can be analyzed and validated empirically. The resulting model shows where users typically expect to find the most common Web objects within an online store. This knowledge can be used to improve the first impression, orientation, and usability of your website.

The paper presents the review of design experience and applied research of catamaran craft, up to 30m in length, of total over 30 catamaran designs, developed by ‘Albatross Marine Design’ and launched during recent years. Architecture of catamarans is discussed; typical catamaran hull shapes are reviewed and their suitability for different applications and desired speeds are studied. Recommendations are given for hull shape particulars selection. Performance issues are studied using available theoretical methods and sea-trials data of number catamarans. Components of resistance of catamarans and methods of their prediction are reviewed. Comparison of methods is presented and samples of their applications for hull shape selection are shown. Seakeeping performance is discussed in terms of vertical accelerations. Results of full-scale measurements of vertical accelerations on number of craft are presented. Controllability discussion is based on turning track measurements for power catamarans of different configurations at different speeds. Structural design issues are reviewed with special interest in composite craft and their improvements. Perspective applications of catamaran concept for different types of craft are indicated. Presented are samples of catamaran designs for special, small commercial and pleasure catamarans.

The article focuses on the experimental music that emerged after the Second World War and in graphic musical notation. He has a special interest in the influence exercised by the reading of the Tractatus Logico Philosophicus in the musical work Treatise by Cornelius Cardew. The isomorphism between language and reality and the different types of propositions formulated by the first Wittgenstein represent a new conception of music in the composer.

The term “specialized tourism” has been widely used in Ukrainian academic literature for the last few decades. The analysis of main publications reveals that this term refers to different types of tourism, which are usually known as “niche tourism” in foreign literature. Another term “special interest tourism” or SIT sounds very similar, but in fact, it has a bit different and narrower meaning. Such a difference in terms between Ukrainian and English-language publications is caused by differences in economic systems of so-called “capitalist” and “socialist” countries in the past. The term “niche tourism” comes from the concept of “niche market”, which appeared in the western economic literature under conditions of market economy. Instead, in the former USSR, in terms of a command economy, the concept of “specialization” was more popular, so the term “specialized tourism” appeared. Due to the analysis of the development of the concept of specialized (niche) tourism in domestic and foreign academic literature we got the possibility to clarify its contemporary content. Specialized (niche) tourism is a set of different types of tourism, targeted at clearly defined and relatively stable groups of tourists forming market segments (microniches), quite narrow but sufficient for the creation of individual tourist products. Niches can be separated based on different criteria such as the purpose of travelling, special needs of tourists or special features of tourism destinations. The most important features of specialized (niche) tourism are as follows: well-defined and relatively stable target group of tourists; market segmentation based on aforementioned criteria; products targeted at narrow market segments (micronishes) and tailored to the specific requirements of tourists; niche size sufficient for the creation of individual tourist products. Key words: tourism, types of tourism, specialized tourism, niche tourism, special interest tourism, tourist product.

The article contributes both conceptually and methodologically to the study of online news consumption by introducing new approaches to measuring user information behaviour and proposing a typology of users based on their click behaviour. Using as a case study two online outlets of large national newspapers, it employs computational approaches to detect patterns in time- and content-based user interactions with news content based on clickstream data. The analysis of interactions detects several distinct timelines of news consumption and scrutinises how users switch between news topics during reading sessions. Using clustering analysis, the article then identifies several types of news readers (e.g. samplers, gourmets) and examines their news diets. The results point out the limited variation in topical composition of the news diets between different types of readers and the tendency of these diets to align with the news supply patterns (i.e. the average distribution of topics covered by the outlet).

In the context of a medium-term study designed to integrate the simulation of different types and processes of learning—such as classical, operant, and some cognitive types—one must start with other more elementary ones that are facilitators of the more complex types and processes. Of special interest is habituation, owing to the filtering out of irrelevant stimuli, which means that the simulated agent does not have to respond to them. This paper presents two difference functions constructed to computationally simulate the characteristics that define habituation. The behavior of these functions is described, as are differences arising from stimulus intensity and interstimulus intervals. Results are compared with existing empirical data.

An analysis of the mathematics used in investments in government securities Abstract: This work is the result of a research promoted by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa de Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG), linked to the Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica Júnior (PIBIC-JR) and aims to analyze the mathematics used in investments in Government Securities. To do this, first, in order to have access to these types of investments, we outlined the procedures necessary for opening an account in a securities broker. In a second moment, we studied the three main investment modalities accessed through Treasury Direct, namely Treasury Selic, IPCA Treasury and Prefixed Treasury, and, through simulations and in light of the Didactic Anthropological Theory, we obtain information regarding the contents (such as percentage, compound interest, conversion rates and different types of income (gross, net and real). All this was done following Artigue's Didactic Engineering research methodology. Keywords: Financial education; Didactic Engineering; Investments; Anthropological Theory of Didactics; Treasury Direct.

E-commerce market continues to grow. It is so popular because more and more people are connected to the Internet. Nevertheless, not all online e-shops can be so proud of its conversion rates. The customers' satisfaction with the services of different types of e-shops are affected by many different factors. The authors can say that a satisfied customer is the one who maintains a good reputation of the sellers' despite of the disadvantages which he had to face, such as damage of product during its transport, the need to make a warranty repair. To evaluate the customers' satisfaction in the chosen e-shop, the authors decided to use two methods which according to them can be complementary in this case, these methods are following: the Servqual method and the Importance/Performance analysis (IPA). Then, advantages and disadvantages of e-commerce were described. Next, the research methods were characterized. Later, the survey and its results were shown. The research had the form of an online questionnaire. It was addressed to customers of the chosen e-shop. The Servqual method was used to evaluate the quality level of offered services in general and analyze the Servqual index (perceptions of the real services minus customers' expectations). The Importance/Performance analysis was used to indicate which areas of the service really need the intervention of the research e-shop.

AbstractCoevolution is one of the major drivers of complex dynamics in population ecology. Historically, antagonistic coevolution in victim-exploiter systems has been a topic of special interest, and involves traits with various genetic architectures (e.g., the number of genes involved) and effects on interactions. For example, exploiters may need to have traits that “match” those of victims for successful exploitation (i.e., a matching interaction), or traits that exceed those of victims (i.e., a difference interaction). Different models exist which are appropriate for different types of traits, including Mendelian (discrete) and quantitative (continuous) traits. For models with multiple Mendelian traits, recent studies have shown that antagonistic coevolutionary patterns that appear as matching interactions can arise due to multiple difference interactions with costs of having large trait values. Here we generalize their findings to quantitative traits and show, analogously, that the multidimensional difference interactions with costs sometimes behave qualitatively the same as matching interactions. While previous studies in quantitative genetics have used the dichotomy between matching and difference frameworks to explore coevolutionary dynamics, we suggest that exploring multidimensional trait space is important to examine the generality of results obtained from one-dimensional traits.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to asses the frequency of the deafness pathology in the Ear, Nose and Throath Clinic of the Emergency County Hospital in Tîrgu Mureș and two other private institutions that have an ear linked profile, with a special interest on those with indication for prosthesis. This is a pilot study, being conceived as a part of a larger one used to measure the number of possible cochlear implant recipients nationwide. Methods: We gathered data from the interval 2011-2013, including in the study all the patients for which an audiometry testing was performed in this time interval. This was followed by a process of selection/exclusion applied to the original group in order to obtain significant statistical data. Results: The most important part of the study was to quantify the different types of hypoaccusia and the relative number of candidates for various prosthesys available these days. Conclusions: This study quantifies the rising need for hearing prosthesis and triggers a signal.
