Food waste is currently a major challenge for the world. It is the precursor to several socioeconomic problems that are plaguing modern society. To counter and to, simultaneously, stand by the undernourished, surplus food redistribution has surfaced as a viable solution. Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-mediated food redistribution is a highly scalable approach and it percolates into the lives of the masses far better. Even if ICT is not brought into the picture, the presence of food surplus redistribution in developing countries such as India is scarce and is limited to only a few of the major cities. The discussion of a surplus food redistribution framework under strategic settings is a less discussed topic around the globe. This paper aims to address a surplus food redistribution framework under strategic settings, thereby facilitating a smoother exchange of surplus food in the smart cities of developing countries and beyond. As ICT is seamlessly available in smart cities, the paper aims to focus the framework in these cities. However, this can be extended beyond the smart cities to places with greater human involvement.

It is important that your abstract clearly states the purpose of your chapter and summarizes the content. Unprecedented developments in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) have currently pervaded educational settings the world over. Under the push towards innovative betterment and global connectivity, multiple forms of ICT, especially computers and the Internet, have been frantically implemented in educational systems in developed and developing countries alike. Prophecies of an educational evolution brought about by ICT, however, have not been fulfilled as there persists a great discordance between rhetoric and reality. Research into this field suggests that major challenges are often locally specific and strategic ICT approaches are to be made with contextual as well as socio-cultural considerations. This paper, therefore, aims mainly to investigate the development of ICT integration in Vietnamese education against the contemporary international landscape. It provides an overview of the current ICT-based educational advancement in Vietnam, followed by a detailed discussion of major challenges ushered in by the new-versus-old tensions and discourse conflicts. Practical implementations are also offered in an effort to actualize ICT promises in enhancing and transforming the educational system in Vietnam. This discussion could be relevant to any other developing countries, which have just embarked on and yet are committed to the process of evolutionizing their education via ICT.

In the advent of CoViD 19 pandemic, education sector around the world try to ensure learning continuity for children and youth through different learning delivery modalities. With new possibilities offered by information and communications technology (ICT), an abundance of products, services, and projects has emerged with the promise of revitalizing agricultural extension in developing countries. However, a growing body of evidence suggests that not all ICT-enabled extension approaches are equally effective in improving adoption, productivity, income, or welfare outcomes. In this review, we explore various conceptual and methodological threads in the literature on ICT-enabled extension in developing countries. We examine the role of multiple impact pathways, highlighting how ICTs influence behaviors and preferences, gender and intrahousehold dynamics, spillovers, and public worker incentives. We also explore the opportunities presented by ICT-enabled extension for increasing the methodological rigor with which extension outcomes are identified. These conceptual and methodological insights—coupled with empirical evidence from prior studies—offer direction for several lines of policy-relevant research on ICT-enabled extension. When used effectively, it offers huge potential to empower people in developing countries to overcome development obstacles, address the most important social problems they face, and strengthen communities, democratic institutions, a free press, and local economies. But, a “digital divide” separates those who can access and use ICT to gain these benefits, and those who do not have access to technology or cannot use it for one reason or another.

Modern information and communications technology has provided medical students and practitioners around the world with a new, valuable, and easy-to-use way to retrieve potentially useful information. Using previously described by our research group methodology, we generated a list of 50 Internet resources in the field of obstetrical and gynecological infections. We believe that the availability of such a list will help in the education of students and clinicians interested in obstetrical and gynecological infections.

En este sen-tido, la educación se convierte en el vínculo de transmisión de culturas y la escuela se presenta como un lugar privilegiado para el desarrollo de aprendizajes y rela-ciones en espacios de gran diversidad que den respuesta a las demandas sociales. Las nuevas generaciones se forman en un contexto educativo que da mucha im-portancia a las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, las cuales trans-miten nuevos valores de colaboración y respeto, a través del diseño de nuevos espacios de aprendizaje e intercambio de experiencias. En este sentido, la escuela puede servir para compensar desigualdades y adquirir nuevos conocimientos com-partidos con personas de todo el mundo, favoreciendo entornos de interacción entre los diferentes sistemas sociales, culturales y educativos.AbstractIn the development of this text reflects on the influence spaces and Maker culture in education. In this sense, education becomes the transmission link cul-tures and the school is presented as a privileged place for the development of learning and relationships in areas of great diversity that respond to social de-mands. The new generations are formed in an educational context that gives great importance to information and communications technology, which transmit new values of cooperation and respect, through the design of new spaces for learning and sharing of experiences. In this sense, the school can serve to offset inequali-ties and acquire new shares with people around the world, promoting environments interaction between different social, cultural and education systems.

The chapter explores the diffusion of information and communications technology (ICT) in the country of Jamaica, and within the context of the national strategic plan for information technology. Further it utilizes the concept of institutional intervention to discuss some policies and initiatives undertaken in support of the plan. Within this framework, the impacts of managed interventions via collaborative projects between government and international agencies on the adoption of Internet technologies by small and medium-sized enterprises are also examined. The aim of the authors is to indicate that as far as developing countries are concerned, governments can affect the diffusion and adoption of ICT through policymaking but more positive outcomes can be realized through managed interventions.

This article discusses and analyses the complex relationship between digitalization and the Indian textile industry. It is found that the process of digitalization has both positive and negative impacts on the sector, in terms of its opportunities and supposed challenges. To effectively meet the challenges and convert these into opportunities, it is proposed that certain measures be taken of the likes of protecting the jobs of the poor and imparting adequate digital skills to the textiles workforce. To make the digital economy a success and not a disaster, it is imperative that digitalization be supported by an effective information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, involving both the state efforts and individual initiative. A visionary and practical approach to the issue of digitalization shall render not only the industry but also the economy in an advantageous position, given the pre-eminence of the digital technologies in the world today. In sum, running away from the process of digitalization may be the last thing any industry could manage to do; only embracing it intelligently would be useful for the sector as well as for its stakeholders—managers, employees and the entire Indian economy.
