In the treatment of this subject I shall confine myself to those schools only that require a grammar school diploma, or its equivalent, for admission, that have a four year’s course, and that are manual training or technical high schools as distinct from the “trade” school. I have confined my investigation, mainly, to public high schools, for with the institutions supported by the public the problem is more vital, and demands the attention of the public school teacher to a far greater extent than that of private institutions.

<p><em>This study aims to analyze the level of mathematical problem solving abilities of students in one of the high schools in Garut City on the material of sequence and series. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. The sample in this study was conducted on 5 students in class XI at one of the public high schools in Garut City. The instruments given to the students were 4 questions on the sequence and series material. The conclusion of this study is the mathematical problem solving ability of class XI high school students in Garut City, seen from the indicators of identifying sufficient data to solve problems and implementing strategies to solve problems, is quite high, but the indicators of making mathematical models are classified as moderate, and checking the correctness of results and answers still relatively low.</em></p>

This study aimed at identifying the organizational climate at the Jordanian public high schools and its relation to the teachers' job performance. The sample of the study consisted of (100) high school principals, who were chosen using the stratified random technique, and three teachers who work with each of those 100 principals, who were chosen randomly, during the academic year 2016-2017.The findings of the study indicated that both of the organizational climate and job performance at public high schools in Jordan was medium. Furthermore, the results indicated a statistically significant positive correlative relationship at (α=0.05) between the level of the organizational climate in the public secondary schools in Jordan and the level of teachers' job performance in these schools. Accordingly, the two researchers recommend that the Ministry of Education should improve the organizational climate in secondary schools in Jordan and hold training courses for principals in this field.

My aural introduction was Peter Allen’s song, ‘Tenterfield Saddler’. And most of you will know that ‘At Henry Parkes Motel’, Meaghan’s famous essay on mobility, comfort, desire and banality, is situated in Tenterfield where Meaghan’s early childhood took place.  The overblowness of this song, the calculated ridiculousness of its nation branding via the melange of Australian animals—kangaroos, emus, cockatoos—all ‘up ahead’, only underscores the poignancy of the public secret of Allen’s homosexuality and his early death through HIV.  The song, as you may have caught, may have felt, includes the heartbreaking camp of the transnational subject: ‘been all around the world and lives no special place’. And the recognition by that subject that the figures of their hometown, the grandfather living on manners, and the grandfather’s son—Peter Allen’s father who took his own life—have no point of belonging, no line of connection, ‘Except in this song’.  If only Peter had read, heard, interacted with Meaghan. Today I would like to salute all the ways Meaghan has made it possible for the queers, swats, smartarses, girls, women, and those of us from the country and from public high schools—to be here. Meaghan has made it possible for us to imagine ourselves as both ‘here’ and ‘there’. And not just in a song.
