Introduction. Gamalama Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. The eruption of Gamalama Volcano has direct or indirect dangers to the community, especially school students. The potential for casualties and loss of school infrastructure will increase if students do not follow suit when they are at school. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with disaster preparedness that affects students. Then find out the level of disaster preparedness in high school students. Research methods. The research is a descriptive correlational study, with a total sample of 162 students taken by purposive sampling technique at 4 high schools located in the disaster-prone area of Gamalama Volcano. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis and correlation analysis. Results. The results show that there was a positive and significant relationship between knowledge and disaster preparedness in students (sig. 0.000 <0.01). Likewise, the relationship between attitude and student preparedness has a positive and significant relationship (sig. 0.000 <0.01). Meanwhile, the level of disaster preparedness among students was in the "ready" category, with the value of the preparedness index of 74.57. Conclusions. Knowledge, attitudes, and student disaster preparedness need to be improved, in order to reduce the loss of life and property during a disaster, especially schools located in disaster-prone areas. Then, real efforts from the government, local communities and non-governmental organizations are needed in the volcanic disaster risk reduction program.

The phenomenon of cyberbullying often occurs in Indonesia, especially in adolescents. The case of cyberbullying tends to occur because of the problem of self-esteem in the perpetrators of cyberbullying. Apart from self-esteem issues, it was also found that men tend to do cyberbullying more often than women. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of self-esteem and gender prejudice to cyberbullying behavior on students in Jakarta. The research method used is the stratified random sampling technique. This research was conducted to high school and vocational high school students on an equal level in DKI Jakarta with a sample of 435 people. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem and the tendency of cyberbullying behavior. In addition, gender prejudice was also found to have a significant relationship with the tendency of cyberbullying behavior. These results are expected to be the basis for educators and parents and the government to provide early education to adolescents about the importance of developing tolerance and respect for the opposite sex and providing education on how to use social media wisely.

As an individual goes through Senior High School education, s/he encounters situations which require them to take appropriate educational, vocational and social decisions. This highlights the need for guidance and counselling services in learning institutions. Its importance cannot be overstated. Research has shown that young people think about careers within the context of life more than in terms of qualifications and training. This study explored the knowledge of senior high school students in the Agona East district, about career counselling and how career guidance has been of benefit to them. The qualitative approach of descriptive survey using the purposive sampling technique was adopted. The data gathered was analysed using two main themes consisting of several sub-themes. It emerged from the study that for each occupation, different interests, abilities, personality traits and professional values are required. The findings also revealed that career counselling helps students to link what they learn to their interests, capacities, aspirations, and match these with existing opportunities. Going forward, the study recommends that schools                    assist students to identify their interests and make them aware of the importance of academic qualifications in making career choices. It further recommends to policy makers; especially the government of Ghana, to reinforce Guidance and Counselling programmes in senior high                       schools.

Disasters cause deaths and serious disruptions in society, which call for the global community to take drastic steps to address and reduce the impacts of these inevitable calamities. That is why the government, through the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010, requires the integration of disaster risk reduction in the school curriculum to strengthen the awareness and practice of personnel and students on calamity preparedness. Hence, the paper assessed the level of awareness and extent of practice on disaster preparedness before, during, and after the disaster of public junior high school students in Antique. Likewise, it sought to establish a difference in awareness and practice on disaster preparedness relative to sex, residence, and grade level and the relationship between awareness and practice.

Abstract The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between internal motivation and academic achievement among high school students. Using multi-stage cluster sampling 307 high school students were selected. Then internal motivation questionnaire administrated. To measure the academic achievement, their academic grade average was used. Using the Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression analysis, and Z test Collected data were analyzed. Results showed that there is positive and significant relationship between internal motivation and academic achievement. There is positive and significant relationship between interest, competence, effort, lack of stress, selection, value and academic achievement. Between components of the internal motivation, competence, lack of stress and value explained about 24 percent of student academic achievement variance. The relationship of internal motivation and academic achievement among male and female students is no different.

AbstractIntroductionThe aim of disaster reduction education (DRE) is to achieve behavioral change. Over the past two decades, many efforts have been directed towards this goal, but educational activities have been developed based on unverified assumptions. Further, the literature has not identified any significant change towards disaster preparedness at the individual level. In addition, previous research suggests that change is dependent on multiple independent predictors. It is difficult to determine what specific actions DRE might result in; therefore, the preamble of such an action, which is to have discussions about it, has been chosen as the surrogate outcome measure for DRE success. This study describes the relationship of the perceived entity responsible for disaster education, disaster education per se, sex, and country-specific characteristics, with students discussing disasters with friends and family as a measure of proactive behavioral change in disaster preparedness.MethodsA total of 3,829 final year high school students participated in an international, multi-center prospective, cross-sectional study using a validated questionnaire. Nine countries with different levels of disaster exposure risk and economic development were surveyed. Regression analyses examined the relationship between the likelihood of discussing disasters with friends and family (dependent variable) and a series of independent variables.ResultsThere was no statistically significant relationship between a single entity responsible for disaster education and discussions about potential hazards and risks with friends and/or family. While several independent predictors showed a significant main effect, DRE through school lessons in interaction with Family & Charity Organizations had the highest predictive value.ConclusionsDisaster reduction education might require different delivery channels and methods and should engage with the entities with which the teenagers are more likely to collaborate.CodreanuTA,CelenzaA,NgoH.Disaster risk education of final year high school students requires a partnership with families and charity organizations: an international cross-sectional survey.Prehosp Disaster Med.2016;31(3):242–254.
