The results of studies on the optimal level of zinc, which are additionally introduced into feed for rabbits grown for meat, are presented. Experimental researches were conducted in the conditions of the problematic research laboratory of feed additives of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. A scientific and economic experiment was carried out on young rabbits of HYLA hybrids of the French company EUROLAP. The study was conducted by group method. In the 42-day age, 60 rabbits were selected, out of which, according to the analogues principle, three groups were formed – one control and two experimental, with 20 rabbits (10 females and 10 males) in each. The research lasted for 42 days. It was used full-grain granulated feed for feeding the experimental young rabbits, which according to the chemical composition differed in content of zinc in them. Rabbits of the control group received feed containing zinc 50 mg/kg, the second – 100 mg/kg, the third – 150 mg/kg. It was established that feeding of rabbits in the 43–84-day-old age with feed containing zinc 100 mg/kg contributes to an increase in body weight by 2.9%, and an increase in average daily growth during the growing season, respectively, by 4.7%. Feed costs per 1 kg growth in young rabbits consuming feed containing Zinc were 1.0% lower than the control group's young. Rabbits which were fed with feed containing zinc 150 mg/kg were inferior to body weight and average daily increments, respectively, by 1.4% and 2.7% of animals fed with a feed with a zinc level of 50 mg/kg.

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the influence of various levels of methionine in feed on the productivity of growing rabbits. The research was conducted in the conditions of the problematic research laboratory of feed additives of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Experiment was carried out on young rabbits HYLA hybrids of the French company EUROLAP, of which, on the principle of analogues, four groups were formed – control and 3 experimental, with 20 heads (10 females and 10 males) in each. The experiment lasted 42 days. Every week we conducted individual weighings of the experimental animals, calculation of weight gains and feed costs. For feeding of the experimental rabbits were used diets, which were balanced by energy and main nutritional elements, but differed in the content of methionine – the rabbits of the control group consumed feed containing methionine 0.29%, the second – 0.41%, the third – 0.54%, the fourth – 0.66%. Diet consisted of wheat bran, sunflower meal, sunflower hulls, alfalfa grass meal, premix and bone concentrate. At the 84th day of age, the largest body weight was in rabbits, which consumed feed containing methionine 0.41% – 3005.4 g, which is on 3.2% (P < 0.01) more than in the control. Over the entire period of the experiment largest absolute increase was observed in rabbits of second group (0.41% of methionine) and preponderated the indicator of animals of control group at 5.7% (P < 0.001). The average daily gain for the entire period of the experiment was the highest in rabbits of the second group, which was on 5.8% (P < 0.001) more than in control. Calculations of feed costs for the period of growth 42–84 days indicate that the rabbits that consumed a feed containing 0.66% methionine per 1 kg of body weight gain consumed it by 2.3% less than control, and those who consumed feed with contents 0.54% methionine – by 1.5% less, 0.41% methionine – by 1.2% less. According to experimental results, we can conclude that for maximum increases in body weight with moderate cost of feed per unit of weight must use diet containing methionine 0.41%.

BACKGROUND: Serum zinc levels are found to be low in children of protein energy malnutrition globally. Pumpkin seed flour has a high zinc content of 6.88 mg/100 g, has been formulated biscuits made from pumpkin seed flour with a zinc content of 1.52 mg/100 g. AIM: This study aims to determine the effect of giving biscuits made from pumpkin seed flour to serum zinc levels and body weight in malnutrition Wistar rats. METHODS: This research is a true experiment with pre-post-test with control group design. Subjects were 28 male Wistar strain rats induced by fasting malnutrition for 3 days and then given biscuits with a zinc dose of 0.027 mg; 0.054 mg; and 0.081 mg/BW/day and in the control group without biscuits for 2 weeks. Serum zinc levels were examined using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA test. RESULTS: Paired t-test results on serum zinc levels obtained p > 0.05 and on body weight obtained p < 0.05. One-way ANOVA test results on serum zinc levels after the intervention obtained p > 0.05 and at body weight obtained p < 0.05 followed by post hoc least significant difference test found that there were significant differences between the control group and the P1 group, a dose of 0.027 mg (p = 0.015) and P2 groups, doses of 0.054 mg (p = 0.012). Greater weight gain was found in the P1 group with an increase of 38.85%. CONCLUSION: The provision of biscuits made from pumpkin seed flour has an effect on increasing body weight of malnutrition Wistar rats and has no effect on serum zinc levels, so further research is expected to use different doses.

Abstract. The purpose of the research is to develop an effective feed additive with an optimal content of raw protein in combination with flavoring additives for ducklings, which allows to increase zoo technical and economic indicators with broiler technology of fattening young animals. Research methods. A scientific and production experiment was conducted on three groups of analog ducklings from a daily age to 49 days old. The studied indicators are: the dynamics of live weight by fattening phases, absolute and average daily growth, the safety of young animals, feed conversion, slaughter indicators, the European fattening efficiency indicator, the profitability of meat production. Results. The use of compound feeds with an optimal level of protein content in combination with flavoring additives prepared on the basis of developed feed additives intended for fattening broiler ducklings in the fattening phases contributes to an increase in: live weight by 11.4 %, the safety of young animals by 3 %, feed consumption and conversion by 3.9 and 7.6 %, slaughter yield of 1.1 %, the European fattening efficiency indicator from 246 to 308 units and the profitability of meat production by 24.5 %. Scientific novelty. For the first time, a complex feed additive has been developed, which, according to the age periods of fattening, includes three varieties: “Prestart”, intended for intensive fattening of young animals from daily to 10 days of age inclusive, “Start” for ducklings from 11 to 21 days and “Finish” from 22 to 49 days. The rate of introduction of the additive is 30 % of the mass of mixed feed. The composition of the supplement includes high-protein feeds, premixes, amino acids and flavoring substances (monosodium glutamate, acetic and citric acids, a mixture of phytogenics: oregano, cinnamon, red pepper).

This study was conducted to observe the effect of different administration method of garlic and neem on growth performances, feed efficiency and serum biochemical parameters for safe broiler production. The experiment was done for a period of 32 days with 384 one-day-old straight run broiler chicks. The broiler chicks were divided into six groups each of 64 birds and replicated to four subgroups each of 16 birds. The dietary groups were; control (basal diet; no additives), antibiotic (basal diet + antibiotic), garlic in feed (basal diet + 0.25% garlic powder), garlic in water (basal diet + garlic extracts), neem in feed (basal diet + 0.25% neem powder) and neem in water (basal diet + neem extracts). Results showed that the body weight and body weight gain increased significantly (P<0.05) in both the garlic and neem groups compared to the control group. Feed intake was not different (P>0.05) among the treatment groups. Garlic in feed and water and neem in feed groups showed better FCR (P<0.05) compared to the other treatment groups. There were no significant (P>0.05) difference in meat yield, bone development and dressing parameters except head and gizzard in different dietary groups. Supplementation of garlic with feed and water significantly (P<0.05) decrease cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL compared to the other groups. However, both the garlic and neem groups showed numerically higher HDL compare to the control group. There were no 0significant (P>0.05) differences in serum glucose and GPT among different treatment groups. GOT was significantly (P<0.05) lower in neem groups than that of garlic and antibiotic groups. Additive groups showed higher profitability than control group. Based on the results of the study, it may be suggested that the garlic and neem could be used both in feed and water as potential feed additives for safe broiler production. Bang. J. Anim. Objective: The study developed mushroom stalk residues as feed additives in the broiler diet for improving the growth performance and immunity of broilers as well as to increase the value of mushroom stalk residues.Methods: In total, 300 ROSS 308 broilers were randomly allocated into fifteen pens with five dietary treatments: i) control, basal diet; ii) CMWM, supplemented with 1% <i>Cordyceps militaris</i> waster medium (CM); iii) CMPE, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% <i>Pleurotus eryngii</i> stalk residue (PE); iv) CMPS, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% <i>Pleurotus sajorcaju</i> stalk residue (PS); v) CMFV, supplemented with 0.5% CM+0.5% <i>Fammulina velutipes</i> stalk residue (FV).Results: The chemical analysis results showed that CM extracts, PE extracts, PS extracts, and FV extracts contain functional components such as polysaccharides and phenols and have both 2, 2‐diphenyl‐1‐picryl‐hydrazyl‐hydrate scavenging and Ferrous scavenging capacities. The group CMWM saw increased body weight gain and feed conversion rate and the promotion of jejunum villus growth, but there is no significant difference in the intestinal bacteria phase. Antioxidant genes in the nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2)- antioxidant responsive element pathway among the groups are significantly higher than that of the control group, especially in group CMWM.Conclusion: The mushroom stalk residues have antioxidant functional components, can improve the intestinal health and body weight gain of chickens, and can activate the antioxidant pathway of Nrf2 to increase the heme oxygenase-1 expression. The treatment with 1% CM was the most promising as a feed additive.

The article gives scientific substantiation of using silicon-containing new feed additive “Energosil” for replacement gilts. The studies were conducted in pig-breeding complex of the Center for Practical Training of Agricultural Specialists in Mordovia Republic. There were three experimental groups of replacement gilts (10 animals each). The effect of various dosages of Energosil (5.0, 7.5, and 10 mg per kg of body weight) on digestibility, nutrient utilization, and animal growth energy was studied. The most optimal dosage of a new feed additive in their rations was revealed, which constituted 5 mg / kg of the animal live weight. It was established that the animals from the first experimental group, who received silicon-containing feed additives of this amount digested the nutrients of the diet better than their counterparts from the other groups. Compared to the control group, the digestibility of dry matter increased by 3.62% (p<0.05), organic matter by 3.29% (p<0.01), crude protein by 4.09% (p<0.001), fat by 4.30% (p<0.01), cellulose by 3.79% (p<0.01) and nitrogen-free extractives by 2.03% (p>0.05).Replacement gilts of the first experimental group, who were given Energosil in the amount of 5 mg / kg body weight in addition to the basic ration, retained nitrogen in their bodies by 17.1%, calcium by 55.9% and phosphorus by 69.7% more than their counterparts from the control group. It contributed to an increase in body weight of gilts from the first group compared to control counterparts by 10.8%. Increased dosages of Energosil (7.5 and 10 mg / kg body weight) also had a better effect on the growth energy of gilts compared with the control group. The feed additive in the amount of 7.5 mg kg of animal  live weight contributed to an increase in animal weight compared with control counterparts by 6.21 kg or 4.8% (p<0.05), with a third experimental group by 4.4 kg or by 3.4% (p<0.05). When given Energosil in the dosage of 10 mg/kg, the body weight of gilts from the third experimental group was higher by 1.81 kg or 1.4% (p> 0.05) compared with the control counterparts.

The article presents the expediency of using valine in the feeding of growing quails of meat direction of productivity. The studies were conducted in the conditions of research laboratory of feed additives of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. The experiment was conducted with growing Pharaoh quails. It was selected 500 daily quails. Birds were placed in 20 cages with 25 heads in each. In the formation of analog groups, the body weight of the birds was taken into account. Quails were fed full-fledged mixed fodder, which was balanced by energy and other nutrients. The feed for the quails of the control group contained the natural level of valine, and the experimental groups – additionally L-valine according to the experimental scheme. Observed a relationship between the level of valine in feed and feed conversion (R2 = 0.7359). The most effective level of valine in mixed fodder for quail, which is grown for meat, to obtain a sufficiently large body weight with a low level of feed intake per unit of growth is at 1– 21-day age – 1.68% and at 22– 35-day age – 1.23%.

The objective of these investigations was to examine the influence of prebiotics based on mannan-oligosaccharides and polysaccharide complexes of micro elements (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn) on production results and abattoir parameters for broilers of the hybrid Arbor Acres. The experiment was performed on 186 chicken divided into three equal groups, it lasted 42 days and was divided into 3 phases. The first phase lasted 21 days, the second 14, and the third seven days. The complete mix for initial fattening of broilers was used from days 1-21, and complete fodder mixes for closing fattening from days 21-35, and on days 35-42 of the experiment. Feeding was ad libitum and the broilers were maintained in a floor system. Broilers fed mixes of standard raw material composition and the usual nutritive values achieved an average daily growth of 49.10 g at an average daily feed consumption of 115.55 g and with food conversion of 2.35, while the yield was 71.90%. The addition of prebiotics based on mannan-oligosaccharides resulted in an increased average daily growth by 14.95% with a lower feed consumption by 2.67% and better conversion by 15.32%, while the yield was approximately the same as in the control group. The use of mixes to which polysaccharide complexes of micro elements have been added (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn) resulted in a higher daily growth by 11.43%, with a lower feed consumption by 4.28% and better conversion by 14%. The yield was approximately the same in this group as in the controls. The results realized in these investigations, throughout the experimental period, indicate that the use of the examined additives significantly affected the growth and body mass of chicks and that it is nutritionally and economically justified.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of phytogenic feed additive and prebiotic on vegetable protein base diet in broiler performance.  A total of 90 chicks (Cobb-500) were weighted and randomly assigned to the three treatment groups (To, T1 and T2) and supplemented with either phytogenic feed additives or prebiotic and reared for 28 days. Data on live body weight, body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion (FC) were taken at weekly interval. Results revealed that significant (P<0.05) increase in live body weight of broilers was evident in both phytogenic feed additive and prebiotic supplemented groups comparing to the control group at 4th weeks of age. No significant (P>0.05) differences were found in live weight gain among the treatment groups on weekly intervals along the whole experimental period. However, significant differences (P<0.05) were evident on cumulative weight gain at 3rd and 4th weeks of age. In case of feed intake at the age of 3rd and 4th weeks, significant (P<0.05) differences were obtained with decreased feed intake in both phytogenic feed additive and prebiotic supplemented groups comparing to the control group. In case of feed conversion (FC), there were significant (P<0.05) differences among the groups on 1st week and 4th week of age. Best FC was accounted for prebiotic supplemented group along the whole experimental period. The survivability rates were 96.67%, 100% and 100% in control group, phytogenic feed additive and prebiotic supplemented group respectively. Results finally showed that vegetable protein when supplemented with phytogenic prebiotic feed additives and prebiotic c an additive beneficial effect on performance of when compared to non-supplemented control diet. So, ration using vegetable protein mixed with phytogenic feed additives or prebiotic can be recommended for broiler.Progressive Agriculture 28 (4): 323-330, 2017

The use of natural sorbents such as aluminosilicates in particular bentonite clays as feed additives is promising now. The diverse mineral composition of bentonites combined with sorbing, buff ering, ion exchange and other features of clay minerals suggest that the physical and chemical properties of clay provide a productive eff ect by activating the regulatory mechanisms of metabolism. The purpose of the work was to identify the infl uence of natural sorbents on the dynamics of live weight and average daily growth of piglets during the fattening period, to determine their meat productivity and meat quality. The biggest infl uence on the absolute gain in live weight over the entire period of fattening was the introduction of 3,5 % bentonite into the diet of piglets (2nd experimental group). This indicator for this group was 71,15 kg, which was 7,65 kg or 12,05 % more than the analogs of the control group. In animals of the 1st and 3rd experimental groups the absolute gain was higher than the control group by 2,98 and 4,93 kg or by 4,69 and 7,76 %, respectively. The average daily gain in live weight during the rearing period was signifi cantly higher in animals of the 2nd experimental group by 64 g or by 12,10 % (P < 0,05). The biggest pre-slaughter weight, the weight of the cooled carcass and the length of the carcass were in animals of the 2nd experimental group. Their indicators exceeded the control group by 5,74, 9,13 and 2,13 %, respectively. The total indicator of the slaughter traits in pigs is the slaughter yield, which was 2,30 % higher in the piglets of the 2nd experimental group than in the analogs of the control group (P < 0,05). It has been found that the introduction of bentonite from the Zyryansky deposit as a mineral additive to the diets of fattening pigs has a positive eff ect on the meat and fattening traits of pigs, the optimal dose should be considered 3,5 % of the weight of compound feed.
