The article establishes the constitutive features of value in a linguistics with the projection of the phrasemics of single-structured and multi-structured languages (based on the success value). The object is the category of value in its multilevel and multi-dimensional. The subject of the research is the phrasemes with evaluative semantics in the Ukrainian, Russian, English and German. The value in phrasemics is described by the method of parametric analysis of the phraseme semantic structure with accentuation of evaluative macrocomponent and the method of ideographic grouping. The basic unit of analysis is phraseme axiological opposition, regarded as a unity of two phraseme blocks: the first is formed by phrasemes, semantics of which correlates with the values, and the second is made up by phrasemes, semantics of which correlates with non-values. The nature of value provides for the appeal to the antinomy, thus actualizing the clash of axiological and non-axiological, compatible with the binary opposition of good – bad.

The article defines the emotive specifics of anger in Ukrainian phraseology with the design on the problems of axiophraseological pragmatics. The object of the research is the emotional state of anger in its psychological diversity. The subject is the phraseological units with the semantics of anger. The emotive profile of anger is illustrated in the study by numerous examples from imaginative literature. The main method of research is the method of parametric analysis of the semantic structure of a phraseological unit with an accentuation of the evaluation and emotive components. Qualification signs of anger are: a) intensification and complex nature with the release of complex negative states of anger / resentment, embarrassment, discontent, indignation, irritation, rage, hatred; b) negative orientation to the outside; c) psychological manipulation; d) temporary nature and lack of sufficient grounds. Recorded and analyzed the four stages of anger: hidden anger stage, the stage of excitement, stage of outbreak of uncontrolled anger and stage of decay of anger.

The peculiarities of the semantics and structure of verbs derived from adjectives in German, English, and Ukrainian have been analyzed. The verbal lexemes of the languages compared can be defined by means of a semantic interpretation model “Subject of a Situation Is a Motivating Adjective”; they constitute a semantically heterogeneous group of “essive” verbs (from Lat. esse - ‘to be'). Within the framework of the derivational category of “essive” verbs at the level of derivational semantics subcategories, semantic groups and subgroups have been distinguished. In the semantic structure of “essive” deadjectival verbs of German, English, and Ukrainian, the opposition is reproduced on the basis of an “active/inactive state of the subject of a situation when revealing a feature denoted by a motivating adjective”. On this basis, the “essive” verbs of the compared languages are divided into two derivational subcategories: “proper essive” deadjectival verbs (inactive state of the subject of a situation when revealing a feature) and “quasi-essive” verbs derived from adjectives (active state of the subject when revealing a feature). In terms of interlingual comparison, the author notes the quantitative superiority of the two subcategories of the Ukrainian “active” deadjectival verbs over the corresponding subcategories of German and English, while within each language of comparison the quantitative ratios of the selected subcategories are different: in Ukrainian the subcategory of “proper essive” deadjectival verbs is superior over the subcategory of “quasi-essive” verbs, while in German and English the “quasi-essive” deadjectival verbs are quantitatively superior over the subcategory of “proper essive” deadjectival verbs (in German the quantitative difference is insignificant (nine verbs), and in English the group of “quasi-essive” deadjectival verbs is almost twice as big as in German). Within the selected derivational subcategories of the languages compared and on the basis of the presence/absence and nature of certain additional semantic components in the semantic structure of “essive” deadjectival verbs, semantic groups have been distinguished. Two semantic groups can be clearly distinguished within “proper essive” deadjectival verbs, depending on whether the feature revealed by the subject of a situation is necessarily visually perceptible (“expositive”) or visually imperceptible (“intra-essive”). The group of “expositive” deadjectival verbs of Ukrainian is eight times as big as the corresponding semantic group in German, while in English no deadjectival verbs of “expositive” semantics have been found. In German and English, the main way to derive essive verbs from adjectives is conversion (85% and 56%, respectively). In English, conversion is supplemented with suffix models (44%). Essive suffix deadjectival verbs make up 100% of the material in Ukrainian and 15% in German.

There has been an intense debate with regards to Chinua Achebe’s (mis)representation of women in his creative works, especially his first four novels. Some scholars have argued that Achebe is a patriarchal writer who has relegated women to the periphery. Nevertheless, a few have read subtle nuances of gender balance in his works. This paper is a continuation of this debate. Specifically, it argues that Achebe has created Mother Archetypes in his novels and if the same is not recognized, he will continue to be demonized as a gender insensitive writer. The unit of analysis is three of the five Achebe’s novels namely: Things Fall Apart, No Longer at Ease, and A Man of the People. The paper interrogates the aforementioned novels within the framework of archetypal criticism, with the aim of unearthing and examining Mother Archetypes inherent in them. The paper identifies religion, education, and justice as the spheres of life in which Achebe has created, empowered and elevated Mother Archetypes to be at par with their male counterparts. However, owing to the breadth of the subject, the paper dwells on education. The paper concludes that creation of empowered Mother Archetypes in Achebe’s novels is a symbolic relay in which women characters hand in the symbolic empowerment baton to the next woman in the next novel until the last one where the creation of a woman major character, Beatrice, wins the race against male dominance.

Multi interpretation is inseparable from the consciousness and unconscious of the subject of the author, as well as the process of reconstruction by the reader. Based on this article this article aims to describe the results of deconstructing binary opposition readings on the story of Kritikus Adinan by Budi Darma. The data source used is the story of Kritikus Adinan. The research method used is descriptive analysis with the theoretical perspective of deconstruction of Jaques Derrida. Based on the findings and data analysis, the results show the following. First, the deconstruction readings of the Kritikus Adinan can not be separated from the word-scoring process as Jaques Derrida puts it in deconstruction theory. Secondly, the reconstruction of Kritkus Adinan’s story leads to unfamiliarity but leads the reader to discover the marginalized texts. Third, based on the results of deconstruction reading in the story of Kritikus Adinan, there is a binary opposition that has been denied and broken by the author by presenting a reversal of fact. Suggestions that can be recommended are many other literary works that are worthy and important to be reviewed by other researchers to uncover the phenomenon of reversing the facts by the author.

One of the fundamental determinants of the last waveof the globalization process is the emergence and expansionof international country (economy) rankings. The popularity of these lists is increasing day by day. However, despite their widespread use, the existingbody of scientific knowledge about this complex socioeconomicphenomenon is modest, at best. Since internationalcountry rankings represent a relatively newphenomenon and an “industry” characterized by explosivegrowth, the paper will present the basic theoreticalfoundations of the phenomenon, with particular emphasison the economic dimension. The concept will beanalyzed through the context of mechanisms that determinethe appearance and functioning of global societytoday. It will also be noted that the international rankinglists which use the economic systems of countriesas the basic unit of analysis, i.e. certain elements of thegiven system, are a suitable instrument for shaping aneconomic reality and development flows of a modernsociety in accordance with the goals of certain interestgroups and centers of power. The findings that will bepresented in this paper constitute a prerequisite and astarting point for extensive research on the issues of internationalcountry rankings, especially regarding theimpact of this phenomenon on the economic sphere ofsociety.

This chapter examines the short fiction content of the feminist weekly Time and Tide alongside readers’ letters printed in the periodical’s correspondence columns. A basic unit of magazine production the short story is also ‘definitional to modernism’ (Armstrong 2005: 52), and during the interwar period its status as commodity or art became the subject of increasing scrutiny and debate. Drawing on examples from amateur writers and well-known figures such as E. M. Delafield, the chapter explores how Time and Tide negotiated readers’ expectations for short fiction amongst its core target audience of women readers. Building on Fionnuala Dillane’s application of affect theory to periodical studies (2016), the chapter uses her concept of ‘discursive disruption’ to consider moments of conflict between Time and Tide and its readers over the short stories it published as moments of opportunity for the periodical to expand its scope, readership and brow, and renegotiate its position in the literary marketplace.

Professional competence is based on the invariant, which is a systemic and structural education that contains five interrelated components: axiological, motivational, individual-psychological, instrumental, conative. There is no universally accepted notion of “competence” and “competency”. There is no scientifically grounded definition of e invariant structure of competence of the subject of professional activity. The question remains of a productive pedagogical model containing a system of didactic conditions and modern pedagogical technologies that are adequate for the purpose of forming invariants of research competence of student. The basis for the development of such a model was the theory of contextual education by A. A. Verbitskiy. The basic unit of content here is the learning situation, which is a problematic nature. The system of such situations may be based on a situational and contextual approach to the formation of invariants of the research competency of student.

This chapter continues the discussion of the previous chapter about models of the firm, with consideration given to models where the firm is something more like a market than a consumer. It considers how a transaction placed within the context of a firm is different from the “same” transaction placed within a market, which is the subject of transaction cost economics. In transaction cost economics, the unit of analysis is the individual transaction. In this theory, firms are not entities, things of the rough category of the consumer; instead firms are institutions, in the rough category of the market. The line between firms and markets is rather fuzzy, but what line there is is drawn along the dimension of the frequency of interaction, the relative permanence of certain legal and market relationships, and the extent to which parties to a transaction are “tied” to one another.

Crossflow induced vibrations are the subject of this work. The analysis is two dimensional. The governing equations for fluid motion are solved using linearized perturbation theory and coupled with the equations of motion for cylinders to yield the threshold of dynamic instability for an array of cylinders. Parametric analysis is performed to determine the lowest instability threshold for a rotated square array and correlations are developed relating the dominant parameters. The results are compared with theoretical and experimental data for similar arrays and the discrepancies are discussed.
