Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat ada atau tidaknya pengaruh attachment terhadap self-esteem pada dewasa muda yang pernah diselingkuhi. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 113 partisipan dengan karakteristik usia 20-40 tahun, pernah diselingkuhi sewaktu berpacaran, dan sudah memiliki pasangan baru dengan status berpacaran maupun menikah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan teknik survei yang disebar online. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur The Experienced in Close Relationship Revised (ECR-R) untuk mengukur attachment dan Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) untuk mengukur self-esteem. Pengolahan data menggunakan uji regresi berganda untuk melakukan analisa pengaruh. Hasil penelitian dengan melihat attachment sebagai sebuah konstruk, didapatkan hanya dimensi attachment related-anxiety yang memberikan pengaruh negatif yang signifikan terhadap self-esteem pada dewasa muda yang pernah diselingkuhi (R2=.286, p= .000, p<.05). Selain itu, hasil analisa korelasi dan uji beda antara data demografis yang berkaitan dengan kedua variabel juga dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini. The chronic experience and expression of negativity is associated with poorer personal and relationship outcomes. Unfortunately, compared to people with high self-esteem, those with low self-esteem (LSEs) are less motivated to repair their negative moods. The current research examined mood repair in a novel way: in a close relationship context, when mood repair centers on benefitting others. We hypothesized that LSEs are more motivated than usual to repair negative moods when doing so benefits close others and when high in agreeableness (a trait involving prosocial motivation). We found support for our hypothesis with self-report (Studies 1 and 2) and behavioral measures (Study 2) of mood repair motivation, through an experimental manipulation of relationship context (Study 1), when participants expected to communicate with their romantic partners (Study 2), and for both sad (Study 1) and angry (Study 2) moods. Agreeable LSEs were more motivated to repair their negative moods than were disagreeable LSEs.

Humor, which has a wide range of influences, has an important role in human life. Humor is regarded as an effective tool for transmitting a wide range of ideas, feelings, and thoughts and has long been seen as a coping strategy that is particularly healthy and effective. This is because humor is thought to be a strong antidote against negative emotions. In the previous studies, it was detected that the individuals who have a sense of humor also have high task motivation, cheerfulness, high self-esteem and social dominance, and more importantly, humor was found to be positively associated with the creative personality traits. According to Humke and Schaefer (1996), humor and creativity involve both taking risks and generating unusual reactions. Moreover, entrepreneurship includes concepts such as innovation, risk-taking, tolerance to uncertainty, the need for achievement and locus of control. Likewise, entrepreneurial characteristics are defined by creativity, innovation, risk-taking, struggle and high motivation for success. In this respect, it is thought that there is a close relationship between entrepreneurial tendency and sense of humor. This study aims to examine the relationship between individuals' humor styles and entrepreneurial tendencies. The sample of the study consists of students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Pamukkale University and students of the Faculty of Engineering. We use the most preferred scales in the literature to measure humor styles and entrepreneurship tendency. We test the data through statistical methods and analyze the relationship between students' entrepreneurial tendencies and humor styles.

We hypothesized that in adolescence, maladaptive narcissism interacts with low self-esteem to predict a preoccupied attachment style ( attachment for self-affirmation hypothesis), and with high self-esteem to predict an avoidant attachment style ( attachment for self-enhancement hypothesis). We expected gender differences in narcissistic adolescents’ attachment strategies, with girls more likely to be motivated to self-affirm, and boys more likely to self-enhance. Early adolescents in England ( N = 306, 156 girls, 150 boys, [Formula: see text] age = 13.38 years) responded to self-report measures of narcissism, self-esteem, and attachment styles to mother and a friend. Results supported the attachment for self-enhancement hypothesis only. For adolescent boys (but not girls) with high self-esteem, narcissism was associated with higher avoidant attachment toward the mother and a friend. The results suggest that maladaptive narcissism might derail normative separation-individuation processes in adolescent boys, thus contributing to their adoption of an avoidant attachment style with close relationship partners.

Purpose Nationwide, upward trends exist in student issues with anxiety, stress, depression, and lowered classroom performance. As emotional awareness and emotional regulation skills are typically not addressed in professional discipline-specific courses, students experience challenges in their academic performance. This pilot research explored the effect of brief targeted classroom practices within an empowerment-based framework on domains of emotional intelligence. Method Twenty-two students in an undergraduate speech-language pathology class received a 13-week, biweekly, 15-min session of empowerment-based worksheet exercises to develop increased self-esteem, emotional awareness and regulation, and communication. Assessments of self-esteem, emotional intelligence, communication competence, and communication apprehension were conducted using validated scales, namely, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale ( Rosenberg, 1965 ), the Quick Emotional Intelligence Self-Assessment ( Mohapel, 2015 ), the Self-Perceived Communication Competence Scale ( McCroskey & McCroskey, 2013 ), and the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension ( McCroskey, 1982 ), respectively. Midsemester and semester-end student reflections were collected. Results Paired t tests were significant in self-esteem and emotional quotient, including subdomains of emotional awareness, emotional management, social emotional awareness, and relational management. Significance was noted in communication competence in the subdomains of dyad interaction, stranger interaction, and acquaintance. Students' reflection showed significant improvement in empowerment and self-rated improvements in confidence, communication, connections with peers, and trust with instructor. Conclusion Preliminary evidence demonstrates positive outcomes with integration of intentional classroom exercises to build emotional intelligence (including emotional awareness and regulation), self-esteem, and communication. This empowerment model may assist faculty in developing effective pedagogical strategies to build students' self-resiliency.

Abstract Audiologists have a responsibility to counsel patients with auditory concerns on methods to manage the inherent challenges associated with hearing loss at every point in the process: evaluation, hearing aid fitting, and follow-up visits. Adolescents with hearing loss struggle with the typical developmental challenges along with communicative challenges that can erode one's self-esteem and self-worth. The feeling of “not being connected” to peers can result in feelings of isolation and depression. This article advocates the use of a Narrative Therapy approach to counseling adolescents with hearing loss. Adolescents with hearing loss often have problem-saturated narratives regarding various components of their daily life, friendships, amplification, academics, etc. Audiologists can work with adolescents with hearing loss to deconstruct the problem-saturated narratives and rebuild the narratives into a more empowering message. As the adolescent retells their positive narrative, they are likely to experience increased self-esteem and self-worth.
