This study deals with the improvement of the students’ achievement in reading comprehension through advance organizer strategy. The objectives of this research were to improve the students’ achievement in reading comprehension as well as the process of learning reading comprehension by using advance organizer strategy.  The subject of the study was grade XI IPA 2 Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Binjai consisting of 33 students. The data of this study were obtained by using test, observation sheets and interview. This research was conducted in two cycles because in the pre-test (without treatment), the average of the students’ score was 59,24. In the first cycle test, it was 74,30. It is lower than the minimum passing grade, and if is viewed from the observation sheets, the situation of the learning process hasn’t met the criteria of the success. So the writer continued to the second cycle. There was a significant progress on the students’ achievement in reading comprehension in the second cycle, and the average of the students was 82,94. The students were more active and enthusiastic in following the lesson. Therefore, the teaching reading comprehension through advance organizer strategy can improve the students’ achievement in reading comprehension quantitatively and qualitatively. The reason underlying the implementation of the present study was because there was a finding revealing that there were still several students from cross-economics class of XI MIPA having difficulties in understanding the lessons. In addition, the students also had a kind of thought that economics was just about memorizing things which was not interesting and challenging that resulted in their unsatisfied learning outcomes. Therefore, the SIM-OVG model needed to be implemented in the learning process. The instruments of the present study were observation and, students’ learning reports and work method. The population of the study was the second grade students (4 classes) who enrolled economics subject at SMA Negeri 10 Samarinda, whereas the samples of the study were the students of XI MIPA-1 class (cross-economics class) at SMA Negeri 10 Samarinda. The number of the population and samples was 101 and 23 students respectively. The study lasted for one semester. The description of the classroom observation, the students’ scores and the group presentation were obtained for the data analysis. After implementing the SIM-OVG model, the results showed that; 1) in the affective aspect, the students showed a better attitude, 2) in the cognitive aspect, there was an improvement on the students’ learning outcomes (before the implementation of SIM-OVG model in XI MIPA-1 class, 52,17% of the students did not reach the passing-grade, but after the implementation, 100% of the students reached the passing-grade, and they also looked enthusiastic in doing their assignments, and 3) in the psychomotor aspect, the students became more skillful, creative, and be able to perform high level thinking. The researcher suggested that the dissemination should be done through MGMP forum and SIM-OVG model workshop. In addition, the researcher also suggested the integration of SIM-OVG model with other learning models and hoped that every school provided adequate facilities to support the implementation of SIM-OVG model.

TOEFL test is one of the requirements for the students of English Study Program FKIP UNRI to finish their study at S1 Degree.  Based on the researcher’s observation, most of the students did not pass the TOEFL Test.  The students followed the test for several times till they reached the passing grade. It seemed that the students got difficulties in answering the TOEFL Test. So, in this research the researcher focused on analyzing the students’ difficulties in answering the Written Expression section of the TOEFL test.  The aims of this research were to identify the categories of items in the Written Expression section of the TOEFL test which were difficult for the third-year students of English Study Program FKIP-UNRI . and to identify which categories of items that were easy for the students. This research was a quantitative research. The researcher analyzed the categories of items tested in TOEFL test, especially in the Written Expression section. There were 12 categories of items tested in the Written Expression section of the TOEFL test based on Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL Test by Deborah Phillips (2000: 144-221). The categories consisted of subject-verb agreement, parallel structure, comparative and superlative, the use of the verbs, the forms of the verbs, passive verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs, articles, prepositions and usages   The result of the research showed that there were 10 categories of items that were difficult for the students. The categories were parallel structures, comparatives and superlatives, the use of the verbs, passive verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs, articles, prepositions and usages.  While the categories of items which were considered easy for the students were subject-verb agreement and the forms of the verbs. So, in general, the students got difficulties in answering the Written Expression section of the TOEFL test.

The condition of the students’ critical thinking skills in the Kowangbinangun State Elementary School has impacted their learning results. Departing from this situation, a study for improving the students’ critical thinking skills and learning results by using hidrorium as the media should be conducted. Within the conduct of the study, the approach that had been adopted was the classroom action research. Then, the instruments that had been implemented were the test instrument, namely the test items for measuring the achievement of the students’ learning results, and the non-test instrument, namely the assignment assessment rubric for measuring the students’ critical thinking skills level. Furthermore, the data analysis method that had been adopted was the descriptive-comparativee method. Within the first cycle, 4% of the students belonged to the “Very High” category, 14% of the students belonged to the “High” category, and 82% of the students belonged to the “Low” category; as a result, 33% of the students met the passing grade while 67% of the students did not meet the passing grade. The research in the first cycle improved the students’ critical thinking skills and thus 14% of the students belonged to the “Very High” category, 57% of the students belonged to the “High” category, and 29% of the students belonged to the “Low” category. Following up the improvement, the learning results of the students showed that 64% of the students met the passing grade whereas 36% of the students did not meet the passing grade. In the second cycle, the students’ critical thinking skills also improved since 86% of the students belonged to the “Very High” category and 14% of the students belonged to the “High” category. Thus, the students’ learning results improved as well with 82% of the students met the passing grade and 18% of the students did not meet the passing grade.

Pencapaian hasil belajar siswa dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, adalah fasilitas belajar dan motivasi belajar.Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah adakah pengaruh fasilitas belajar dan motivasi belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa mata pelajaran materi Air Traffic Services taruna D.III Lalu Lintas Udara Angkatan IX alpha & bravo pada ATKP Makassar, Tujuan penelitian ini apakah ada pengaruh antara Fasilitas Belajar dan Motivasi Belajar terhadap hasil belajar materi ATS peserta didik D.III LLU angkatan IX Alpha & IX Bravo ATKP Makassar sehingga semua mendapatkan nilai passing grade. Populasi berjumlah total 48 siswa. Peneliti mengambil teknik sensus, yaitu seluruh populasi sebagai objek penelitian. Variabel penelitian terdiri dari variabel bebas yaitu fasilitas belajar (X1) dan motivasi belajar (X2) serta variabel terikat yaitu hasil belajar (Y). Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif persentase. Kesimpulan adalah fasilitas belajar dan motivasi belajar berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar baik secara simultan maupun parsial. Saran penelitian ini untuk fasilitas belajar baik namun peningkatan dan pengoptimalan fasilitas belajar untuk mempertahankan eksistensi perguruan tinggi vokasi serta perawatan yang intensif harus tetap terjaga dan dimonitor secara berkala. pada motivasi belajar, peningkatan motivasi peserta didik dan tenaga pengajar sebagaimana tujuan dari institusi yaitu mengeluarkan lulusan yang berkualitas dan berkompetensi khususnya pada bidang penerbangan sesuai standar internasional.

The result of the observation in an elemtaray school in Blitar, 2012 is as follows: the teachers’ presentation is not interesting; the students are not given a chance to develop their idea and mind; the students get boring with the learning,the concepts given to the students are given separately, and their grades are below the minimum of the criteria passing grade. The research problems: the application of Group Investigation learning model improves student learning outcomes; and the application of ‘Group Investigation’ learning model shapes friendly character / communicative. The result of the research shows that Group Investigation model runs smoothly and The students’ learning outcome increases.

The purpose of this research is to improve students’ learning outcome on the topic liniear programing by using Problem Based Learning. This research is conducted in 11th grade students of senior high school 1 Saparua in academic year 2019/ 2020. Total number students on experiment grup is 25. This research took 2 cycles in order to achieve passing grade by most students. Every cycle consists of two class meeting. Data collected by using essay tests on each cycle and observation sheet. Further more, data analyzed by using qualitative nd quantitative analysis. The results show that students’ achievement on cycle I which reached passing grade is 56% of total number students. Meanwhile, students’ achievement which reached passing grade on cycle II is 80% of total number of students. There can be concluded that students’ learning outcome has improved 24% through Problem Based Learning

The process of learning English in SMP N 2 Penebel class VII C showed that students experienced obstacles in speaking. It could be seen from result of observation, interview and pre-test. It was 2.70 which is categorized below the passing grade minimum criteria: 3.0. Researcher indicated that it was because they seemed to be having lack of motivation in the English learning process. The use of interactive video in learning is necessary in order to improve students' motivation in speaking. Action research design was accommodated to help their problems. The researcher offered three kinds of tests. The result of pre-test was 2.70. After pre-test, the researcher went into cycle 1 which succeeded in improving their speaking from 2.70 to 2.96. In cycle 2, there was improvement up to 3.31. The use of interactive video gave positive responses to the students. As the result, their speaking could be improved.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan hasil belajar Passing atas melalui variasi pembelajaran pada siswa kelas XI SMK Parulian 1Medan Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah PTK, yang terdiri dari siklus I dan siklus II. Setelah data terkumpul, dzilakukan analisis pembelajaran melalui variasi pembelajaran. (1) Dari tes hasil belajar melalui variasi Pembelajaran di siklus I diperoleh 13 siswa yang tuntas (68,42%) sedangkan 6 siswa (31,58%) belum tuntas, dengan nilai rata-rata ketuntasan belajar passing atas (76,27). Belum tercapai ketuntasan klasikal maka dilakukan kembali pembelajaran melalui variasi pembelajaran (2) dari tes hasil belajar II disiklus II diperoleh 17 siswa yang tuntas (89,47%) sedangkan 2 siswa (10,53%) belum tuntas, dengan nilai rata-rata ketuntasan belajar passing atas sebanyak (81, 54%). Maka sudah tercapai lah nilai klasikal 85% tersebut. Dalam hal ini dapat dilihat  bahwa terjadi peningkatan 21% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa melalui variasi pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar Passing atas Bola Voli Siswa Teknik Komputer Jaringan SMK Parulian 1 Medan Tahun 2018. Kata kunci: Belajar, Passing Atas, Bolavoli                                                    ABSTRACTThis research was conducted aimed at knowing how far the increase in learning outcomes Passing through learning variations in class XI Parulian 1Medan Vocational School 2017/2018 Academic Year. The research method used is PTK, which consists of cycle I and cycle II. After the data is collected, dzilakukan analysis of learning through variations in learning. (1) From the learning outcomes test through variations in Learning in the first cycle, 13 students were completed (68.42%) while 6 students (31.58%) were not completed, with an average passing grade of passing learning (76.27) . Classical completeness has not yet been achieved so learning through learning variations (2) from learning outcomes II in cycle II is obtained by 17 students who complete (89.47%) while 2 students (10.53%) have not yet completed, with average completeness scores top passing learning (81, 54%). Then the 85% classical value has been reached. In this case it can be seen that there is a 21% increase from cycle I to cycle II.
