In double increment Simultaneous Lightness Contrast two equiluminant squares rest on darker backgrounds that differ in luminance. Research on such displays has produced conflicting results as to whether an illusion is observed. Anchoring theory of lightness predicts no illusion with double increment displays. Here we test the hypothesis that an illusion can be predicted if the framework containing the target and the darkest background carries more weight in lightness computations. We tested two displays, one with a general white and one with a general black background. An illusion was obtained only in the first display. These results suggest that an illusion can occur with double increment displays when the global value of the targets differs from their local value, as these conditions allow different local framework weighting to affect the targets? final lightness. We propose that this parameter be added to the Anchoring Theory.

Three experiments investigated the role of physical illumination on lightness perception in simultaneous lightness contrast (SLC). Four configurations were employed: the classic textbook version of the illusion and three configurations that produced either enhanced or reduced SLC. Experiment 1 tested the effect of ambient illumination on lightness perception. It simulated very dark environmental conditions that nevertheless still allowed perception of different shades of gray. Experiment 2 tested the effect of the intensity of Gelb lighting on lightness perception. Experiment 3 presented two conditions that integrated illumination conditions from Experiments 1 and 2. Our results demonstrated an illumination effect on both lightness matching and perceived SLC contrast: As the intensity of illumination increased, the target on the black background appeared lighter, while the target on the white background was little affected. We hypothesize the existence of two illumination ranges that affect lightness perception differently: low and normal. In the low range, the SLC contrast was reduced and targets appeared darker. In the normal range, the SLC contrast and lightness matchings for each background were little changed across illumination intensities.

By incorporating the consideration of local issues, local value creation (LVC) creates value for local stakeholders, favoring local industry, local economic activity, and local availability of materials, services, and skills. The purpose of this study is to understand how local values in forest management could be framed and defined within the French forest management context and to explore how the process of LVC could be modeled. Therefore, in this study, we propose a meta-model that can be applied to ecosystem services provided by forests, enhancing the importance of the local context. Also, we introduce the concept of value creation, its connection with forest management, and the pivotal role of stakeholders in value definition. Finally, the way in which this generic conceptual model of the LVC can be applied to the forest management system in France is presented and discussed.

The paper presents a new approach to the conventional averaging in which the role of boundary values is considered in a more detailed way. It results in a new weighted local averaging operator (WLAO) taking into account the particular role of boundary values. A remarkable feature of WLAO is that this operator contains a parameter of boundary regulation p and depends on a local value $h$ of the integration domain. By varying these two parameters one can regulate the obtained approximate solutions in order to get more accurate ones. It has been shown that the combination of WLAO with Galerkin method can lead to an effective approximate tool for the buckling problem of columns and for the frequency analysis of free vibration of strongly nonlinear systems.

From 1987 economic development is challenged with the sustainability paradigm that aims to promote a sustainable development of a triple bottom lines, economic, social and environmental. UNWTO and WTTC promoted Agenda 21 by stating that tourism stakeholders have to participate in sustainable development of the territories. The engagement of tourism businesses including hotels, equipped themselves with a number of tools such as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). By the impregnation and the stage of governmental actions, sustainable development becomes a global value. Thus, transnational hotels operating in Bali are required by Indonesian law since 2007 to integrate the CSR program, requiring them to bring benefit to the local community in a holistic sense. Transnational hotels are required to participate in local sustainable development, but also to meet the requirements of Balinese traditional theological philosophy, ecological and social known as Tri Hita Karana. This research therefore challenges the western paradigm of sustainability, which aspires to universalism by questioning its ability to integrate cultural specificity in the Balinese case, by combining reflective and pragmatic approach, focused more specifically on the particular case of transnational hotels. They are essential agents of the international tourism boom in Bali since 1970.

The main objectives of this research are: (i) To analyze the factors that influence the motivation of community participation in managing Alas Gumitir in terms of acculturation of local value, and (ii) To know how the role of acculturation of local value in improving the quality of community participation Managing Alas Gumitir. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative by taking samples in Kalibaru Manis Village, Kalibaru Subdistrict, Banyuwangi Regency. While the data analysis tools used are factors and discriminant. Factor analysis is used to determine the motivation of the community supported by the application of acculturation to local values. While discriminant is used to know the role of acculturation of local value in improving the quality of participation. The result of factor analysis shows that most motivated communities participate in managing Alas Gumitir as a coffee plantation due to: (i) increased production, (ii) income increase, (iii) land area, (iv) low production cost, (V) labor availability . Surely this is supported by the values of local wisdom which increasingly streamline and streamline governance in the Alum gumitir coffee plant. While discriminant analysis is obtained: (i) the community assumes that the existence of informal sanctions, the effectiveness of sanctions implementation, and institutions or parties imposing sanctions can improve the quality of management participation of Alas Gumitir, (ii) Informal sanctions by the majority of low-income people are considered unable to improve the quality Management participation of Alas Gumitir.

AbstractProduct service systems (PSS) are frequently cited as key strategies in the transition towards the circular economy (CE). The main aim of the CE is sustainable development (SD), hence, this paper intends to highlight the importance of considering the territory in the design and implementation of circular PSS strategies for ensuring SD. This research is in an early stage, thus, a literature review was conducted to define the main characteristics of circular PSS, and the concepts of the territory, territorial and local resources from a PSS perspective. In addition, an analysis of the state-of-the-art approach of the integration of the territorial scale in the design and development of PSS strategies was conducted. This study contributes to the understanding of the territory and its relevance in the local value creation in circular PSS strategies. Furthermore, the results highlight the relevant role of collaboration and the importance of intangible resources in the mobilisation of other resources in the design of circular PSS strategies.
